With Quantum Break going PC who is ditching the X1 in favor of a new rig?

I don't think it's ever a good idea to sell a console, since you'll almost always end up regretting it down the line.

I want to buy a new PC later this year, but I need to wait and see what's up with Nintendo NX first. Not much point in blowing money on both in the same year. And I don't need a new PC, it's just that my laptop is getting old and I want a desktop as a second machine.

I'm not getting rid of my Xbone though. If I get a new PC it'll be to drastically improve the games I've already got and play Xcom 2, along with faster video editing/rendering and such. Not to play games I can get on my Xbox.

Will never ditch consoles, my PC is basically my Blizzard box atm with a few strategy games tossed in.

Glad MS is trying to get the PC games going again though.

Laughing at everyone that is still taking those system requirements at face value. No one even knows what the fuck kind of performance or settings to expect QB to run at with those "recommended" specs.

Bingo.

Recommended specs are almost completely arbitrary....

I'm considering dropping consoles all together. With Microsoft moving most heavy hitters to pc,and Sony exclusive not doing much for me i see less reasons to not just get a high end pc.

I'll be playing this on XB1. More exclusives going the way if XB1 and windows could be seen when you saw MS trying to bring the ecosystems together. Makes no difference to me if they come out on both. I know what I primarily game on. As long as they take advantage of gamers being able to play against each other on XB1 and PC, I'm all for it.

Not ditching, 'cause i don't have one, but i sure as heck won't ever bother buying one.
Which makes me happy, because other than the money saved, i just don't have space for another (huge) box in front of the TV.

So far this gen I've been playing games primarily on PS4/Vita/3DS, with a short but intense stint on Wii U for Xenoblade Chronicles X, since I've neglected my desktop PC. I also hadn't bought an Xbox this gen, but I had figured it would be a matter of time.

However these announcements combined with how I've recently been toying with the idea of building a beefy rig to do PC VR make me think that there's little to no point of getting an Xbox and encourages me to pull the trigger on that PC build.

Now that Quantum Break is coming to PC day one I'm selling my X1 and finally building a new PC. I've wanted an excuse to do so for a long time and MS has finally given it to me. I love Microsofts new strategy and ironically enough when all is said and done I'll probably spend even more money in their new ecosystem. I'm definitely getting the Elite controller as well.

Is this impacting anyone else similarly?

Nah. Don't have a gaming PC. Don't want one.

I won't ditch it, but if this carries on and the exclusive xbone games start to come to PC on the same day, it would certainly encourage me to beef up the PC

I had a 360 last gen but I didn't buy a next gen console this time because PC gaming is awesome now. It has most of the games I want to play anyway and I think my money is better spent on upgrades for my gaming rig, so I already ditched consoles even before the news about Quantum Break hit.

I already have a powerful PC but I'm keeping my Xbox. I don't think I've ever gotten rid of a console because there's no point really. Also mainly because Xbox/PC is probably the best combo this gen.

I bought my Xbox One to play these games and they are still coming as 'console exclusives' all the same. Nothing has changed for me.

Exactly, nothing has changed. I'll be getting a laptop some point later to play the likes of Pillars of Eternity, but that will be it basically. Being a father of 2 and working full time, console is a blessing for me. I simply cannot afford £900, at least not now. No matter how you spin it, Quantum Break being on virtually any MS platform is a good thing for everyone.

To answer OP's question, nope not for this title. But I will definitely will for other games.

Yeah. If it runs decently on a console, there's no way it's going to need an i7/980ti to run smoothly. Maybe if you need 144fps.

I wonder if Microsoft is preparing to not have any console next gen and instead "xbox ready" computers ala steam machines. It's weird to have such a major console seller to be released on PC also.

I was given an Xbox One for Christmas and even I'm feeling a little bit of 'buyers remorse'. Going to keep it unless Scalebound is announced for PC, if that happens I'll sell it for money towards the top end Pascal/Polaris card and other upgrades.

Not jumping ship just yet, I've been getting a lot of good fun out of it so far.

The Potato Masher - $375

i5 750 overclocked to 3.7 ghz
Asus P7H55 LGA 1156 motherboard
4GB DDR3 memory (upgraded to 8GB in January 2016)
GTX 760
320GB Samsung Spinpoint HDD
Cooler Master Wavemaster Case
Arctic Alpine 11 GT cpu cooler
EVGA 430 watt PSU

Plays games at better quality than the PS4 except for 4 games which were shit ports. Nice. No PSN/Live subscription and cheaper games also.

People are seriously overreacting to this.. WTF.

It's shady that they waited until 2 months before release to announce it, I agree completely. But QB going on PC isn't the end of the world, if this helps get a sequel to what looks to be an amazing game then why does it matter? that's a good thing...

I have what I particularly consider a decent gaming PC: i5 2500 + GTX 570.
Yeah, I know it can be upgraded to a much better system nowadays, but right now it still can handle pretty much everything in a way or another.

That said, I'm not sure if I will sell my Xbox One. There's already a while (before today's announcements) that I'm considering selling it and / or my Playstation 4, and keeping only a PC and Nintendo consoles (right now a 3DS and waiting to see what NX will be like). These rumors and Quantum Break oficial announcement is impulsing me a bit more in that direction though.

Thing is, nowadays I'm playing way less than before and I'm not willing to play many online games anymore, cause 1) I don't have much time available to dedicate "getting good" and 2) my time hardly matches with people I personally know and play the same coop game. So I'm growing more interested in games which I can jump in once in a while and have fun, doens't matter how long I stayed away from it: more simple and / or casual games such as Nintendo games or less complex RPGs. This kind of thing I can find a lot on PC and Nintendo devices, and other than some very specific exclusives from PS4 and XB1 (such as Persona 5 and Forza Horizon) there's nothing trully getting much of my attention anymore.

I'm waiting to see what MS announces at E3. If everything coming from MS is available on any Windows 10 device then I'll likely double down on my PC, making room in my media center for the PS4 and NX.

I love the Xbox One, it's been a lot of fun, but I'd prefer to play games on my PC.

EDIT: Oh man, Spencer having to calm down one of the warriors is hilarious. https://twitter.com/XboxP3/with_replies

And I'm sure this exact rig costs less than this price point, which was assessed at the time of build if I'm not mistaken.
You can build a better rig for this price point now, which would destroy PS4/Xbox One on raw computing power.

Also as you said it, no subscription fee to play online, the freedom of playing with the controller you want (or mouse/keyboard), and everything else a PC does that a console doesn't.

Not trying to belittle consoles, but saying that console gaming is cheaper than PC gaming is misinformation.
Console gaming is great for exclusives and ease-of-use, but that's it basically.

could you please make a list of PS4 exclusives that are also on PC? cause atm I can't think of any.

Firewatch and The Witness actually fall into that list and they just came out. Paragon is coming to only PS4 and PC, oh and Street Fighter V and No Mans Sky. There are more but those are some I can think of off the top of my head.

I literally got a new PC last week (optimized to play The Witcher 3 perfectly) and already it doesn't match Quantum Break's recommended specs. GTX 980 Ti recommended is crazy.

Xbox One version it is.

You think your PC built to run Witcher 3 perfectly will play Quantum Break worse than Xbox One? You are wrong if you think so.

From the early screens and videos Quantum Break runs at 720P on Xbox One.

Just built a gaming rig last month so I am all over this, hope I can just buy games on steam and that halo makes its way to Windows 10.

Ye you are right, PC gaming get s a bad rep pertaining to price because PC gamers are enthusiast. We never want just enough, we need 4 titans SLI, 4K monitors, etc. PC gamers want the most they can get for how much money they are will to spend. If you have $700 to spend on gaming and a ps4 cost $400 you can't do anything about it but spend $400. PC gamers will spend all $700 on a rig looking at every sale to add just that extra ram stick.

Quite happy with my PS4/PC combination but I've always been a multi-console owner. I'd been waiting for a compelling reason to get an XB1 and assumed that would have happened by now...this news makes it feel like it may never happen. I wouldn't have imagined that being the case when this generation started.

I'll be selling my Xbone and buying a new video card once the new Nvidia cards launch now. If first party is really going day and date on the PC I have no reason to own an Xbone when I already have a PS4 for multiplats.

Even if QB is a "Windows 10 exclusive" is there a way to play it through Steam? Also, what's so bad about Windows 10? No mod support?

As you can tell, I'm not a PC person (yet), but this has gotten me more interested.

Could always keep the Xbox around as media center and the occasional game. I have a gaming PC and still like my XO. Game on it rarely, but it's nice media machine. I would never recommend purchasing it solely for that, but you already have one. The amount of money you'll get for it seems miniscule in the grand scheme of things. You'd only get a fraction of what you need for a PC. Seems like a rash decision.

I love the fact that it's cross buy and cross save. However as I get older I'm just losing patience with PC gaming. So for now I'm mostly playing PS4/Xbox One. I have a i5-2500k/r9280x for playing PC exclusives and last gen stuff.

Helldivers is one, but the was published by PS mobile inc whom I think published a few other mobile games and the game was made by arrowhead so it is more of a' 2nd party' deal and the more the same with SFV

Replies in this very thread are the reason why MS can and cannot support the PC. There are people who would have never bought and Xbox because warrior reasons and are super delighted(lol). Then there are the PC only gamers who are genuinely happy to have more MS games.

At this point 90% of MS games are going to PC. If people are really happy about PC ports. Then people really should be asking why Sony can't and won't do the same for their exclusives.

I cannot ditch Xbone... because I never intended to buy one (even though QB was my "most expected" game on that platform).

My plan for PC upgrade still stands. 14nm GPU this year, new CPU possibly if I can get enough money.

Nope, I'll most likely play it on XBO and just dabblw with the free PC version. If I ever upgrade my PC then I'll play it in 4K further down the line, but as it is my PC is at the minimum specs and it would have to look significantly better for me to play it on PC over console.
