Well tatum was a stripper originally so he's done pretty well since that..
And it's pretty cool that he isn't afraid to talk about it..

why would he be? That's all part of his bad boy 'with the moves' image. You can tell he's uncomfortable when he talks about it, even as he's saying he's not ashamed of it, but his management probably tell him to play it up. LOL

he wasn't REALLY a bonafide heartthrob/star, before, but now he is - or will be. More than the taking his shirt off and stuff (which is all pretty derivative as far as 'heartthrobs' go) the guy can dance, like, for REAL dance and THAT is what will grow/solidify his fanbase, IMO.

I'm straight and I'm so going to see Magic Mike for Soderbergh. I might drag my sister or mom along XD

Also, good work on Moonrise Kingdom :D Give this a damn wide release, damnit!

Unlike Kitsch though, Tatum seems to have a bit of comedic talent in him (as exemplified in "She's the Man" and "21 Jump Street". So maybe that appeals to the female audiences?

I found Kitsch to have his funny moments in Friday Night Lights. Given the right script he could make it work...and watch the film flop too.

Please tell me that isn't Kevin Nash

haha, yep it is Kevin Nash.

Prome should crack $140 domestic when all's said and done.

Nice.

Not surprised that TED did so well, lots of interest surrounding the movie before release, but expect a massive drop off next week.

Prometheus will end closer to $130M. It is $6M behind the Incredible Hulk after a similar fourth Weekend, and that movie stopped at $134M.

Lol kevin nash in that stripper movie

Ted will get 200 million D:

But i think this will give Seth more movies, hmmmmmm don't know if thats good or bad

also, marketing for MM was smart using 'Moves Like Jagger' in the ads. It really fit, and got stuck in your brain, the movie with it.

Kevin Nash as a male stripper? Haha.

Dear god, I might have to rent that on blu ray at some point just to see that embarrassment.

Also, good work on Moonrise Kingdom :D Give this a damn wide release, damnit!

I've given up all hope of this happening. One of the best movies of the year relegated to a limited release. downright depressing. :(

at least it will do well on BR/DVD.

Won't even come close. Might crawl to 130.

It's what I choose to believe. ;p

I saw Moonrise Kingdom this weekend. Probably my favourite Wes Anderson movie since The Royal Tenenbaums.

From the Last Thread:

Early international Releases:
Ice Age 4 - $78M
Amazing Spider-Man - $50M (comparable to Avengers in most of the 13 territories it opened in)

Updated WW totals:
MIB3 - $599M
Snow White - $334M
Avengers - $1.447B

Funny thing was that GI Joe was supposed to be released this Friday. Considering the rapid ascension of Channing Tatum this year, thing must be getting edited much different in that movie now.

MIB3 made an estimated $2.9M this weekend.

That's My Boy was estimated at $2.1M dropping over 70% from last weekend. Ted killed it.

I'm off to see Moonrise Kingdom right now.
Having to drive to the opposite side of Atlanta Metro.
Only 2 theaters here are showing it ...

Prometheus WW total is at $285M

Regarding the MIB3/Will Smith Discussion, MIB3 is Will Smith's seventh highest grossing movie domestically, and third highest grossing film worldwide. His highest film in both territories is still Independence Day. $600M is on the high end for Smith. The only other film (after the two I mentioned) to break that mark is Hancock.

Wow, sorry Steve Carrell, we're apparently done with you.
"Seeking" fell clean off the chart after an already bad open.

i hate being a poor student...so many movies that i haven't seen this summer and won't see until they are available on redbox

Not updated on BOM, but Seeking a Friend made $1M this weekend, down 73%. At least the film was low budget (BOM has it estimated at $10M. It will make less than that domestically).

I think that Universal has predicted $600 million for Snow White. Boy where they wrong.

Prometheus WW total is at $285M

I want Bad Boys 3 now.

Impressive that TAS is comparable to the Avengers. Spiderman is really a WW action hero icon.

I totally said in the other thread that Magic Mike was locked for 40m this weekend.

That was until a cataclysmic 42% drop happened from Fri-Sat. So I was wrong. That's pretty unprecedented for a non horror movie/non midnight dependent film.

It is higher than any horror movie actually. However, it is in line with some other heavily female skewed films like Sex and the City and the Twilight films. I went to Moonrise Kingdom and Prometheus Friday night (7pm and 10:40pm showings) and there were a ton of 20-40 something all-female groups making a girl's night out of Magic Mike. Both Magic Mike and Ted had a lot of sellouts on Friday.

I'm still somewhat shocked Ted is an actual movie. It looks like a bad parody of a bad movie, or a "funny or die" clip.

Good point, I totally forgot about Sex and the City/Twilight, but they did have some built in audiences that would explain a bigger rush factor to see it on Friday. Twilight also got some pretty big midnight numbers too, right?

If Magic Mike has similar legs to Sex and the City, it will cross 100 million, but it's hard to say whether the Saturday drop was partially indicative of the reception to the film. I'm sure some females were not pleased that there wasn't more actual stripping.

Never in my life did I think I'd want to watch a film about male strippers but I'm hearing good things. I might have to check it out when its out on bluray/dvd.
