Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
I'm SO HAPPY Star Wars beat that TRASH Jurassic World into the ground. :)
LMAO I remember the prattoons trying to tell me that JW would hold the record and that Chris Pratt was the reason it did reasonably well

Episode VII was so good. Like only Empire Strikes back and Revenge of the Sith are higher in the SW rankings imo. Episode VII deserves that top spot more than Avatar tbh.

Jurassic World is the worst film of 2015. Garbage plot, piss poor acting, horrendous CG, lame music, poor casting decisions, bad reviews. I'm SO GLAD that people are starting to vote with their wallets for QUALITY once again. Poor JW, it's over for the dinos.

Up next to battle Star Wars for that record is the soon to be critically acclaimed Captain America: Civil War.

Jurassic world did 99 million in China for the opening weekend there. I imagine something similar if star wars had been released there.

I still can't believe Brad "Tomorrowland" Bird was almost in charge of this movie

Then again, you could say the same thing about J.J. "Super 8" Abrams

Hilarious if this poster is serious...and not the good hilarious, either.

lol. Honestly Episode VII was okay. Not "so good" and I'm a huge Star Wars fan. Of course that's just my opinion but the marketing machine has certainly done its job here.

I'm not a Star Wars guy and the marketing/fans completely ruined the whole thing. Overhyped it to no end. It is an OK movie that is specifically designed to please everyone, and have no other qualities.

I can agree with this. Disney played it extremely safe, the ultimate focus tested blockbuster.

I am really curious to see how Ghostbusters does. People complain about "ewwww girls" nonsense but a trailer with the Ray Parker Jr. theme playing? That's going to hit the nostalgia button of a lot of people.

Both Gremlins and Bill & Ted are in development hell and have been for years, I wouldn't expect them anytime soon if ever until they actually are in pre-production.

I think Ghostbusters has a really wide box office range. With good reviews it could be a pretty big hit, but poor or middling reviews combined with the unfortunate ambivalence towards the cast could really sink it.

I disagree. Thought it was great. Probably in my top 3 star wars movies. But yeah the poster above was getting a little ridiculous.

Word!

So maybe the December legs will be true after all. What if it stays over $35 million on Monday and Tuesday? Christmas will be huge obviously. Avatar is toast domestically....

And we still don't have China.... $2.7 billion is probably too big a hill to climb. But the race to $2billion will be fun. I'd also love $1 billion domestic but that's a stretch.

I'm all for bashing the complete and utter mediocrity of Jurassic World, but simultaneously praising Revenge of the Sith? That's some silly nonsense.

Are people being sarcastic in their hate on JW or is that genuine? I enjoyed the movie.

The post above was satirical but some people actually feel that way.

Theres a very vocal group of people that dislike it but the general consensus seems to be that it was pretty well received.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Pfffff even with the updated number, Star Wars still won't beat The Cameron duo.

Only Cameron beats Cameron.

Impressive though, but Disney is still in the red. It needed $4 billion.

We'll have to see. I'd say it's a safe bet that TFA will beat Titanic domestically. Avatar is within shot, but it's only the first weekend. We'll have a much better idea of domestic Avatar next weekend.

Worldwide.. just take what I said about Avatar and apply it to Titanic worldwide. It could very well take down Titanic.. but we'll have to wait and see how next weekend performs worldwide. We could get to the end of next weekend and know that it'll be highly unlikely, or not. Though I think $2B seems like a pretty safe bet right now.

And obviously it won't even approach Avatar WW.

Worldwide, getting to Avatar is really unlikely.

But domestic, It's got a shot.

I'm kidding Bobby you know that 😃

Domestic, yup no doubt about it and with the updated numbers, beating Titanic's ww gross may be in play.
