Funny how talk of all non-Star Wars films stopped in this thread.

Barring an out of the blue American Sniper like event in January, here is how the 2015 Domestic Top 10 will end up looking:

1) Star Wars: The Force Awakens - At least $700M. Probably $800M-$1B depending on legs.
2) Jurassic World - $652M
3) Avengers: Age of Ultron - $459M
4) Inside Out - $356M
5) Furious 7 - $353M
6) Minions - $336-338M
7) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt 2 - $285-295M
8) The Martian - $225M (possibly more if it gets an awards season re-expansion)
9) Spectre (?) - $200-205M
10) Cinderella (?) - $201M

Spectre and Cinderella could conceivably switch places. This year has the fewest amount of $200M+ films in several years, but the Top 5 is a record high.

The Top 10 combined will likely account for nearly $3.4B this calendar year (Star Wars will continue to make some money next year), which will equal ~30% of the total dollars spent this year at the cinema. Last year's top 10 took less than 23% of the total box office (About $2.36B).

I'm already almost more interested in how the next two Star Wars films perform. There's always been a drop after the first episode, plus 2016's offering is a spinoff, plus the fever may tone down somewhat now that the franchise is back. On the other hand, contemporary blockbuster sequel achievements have been extraordinary. On the other, other hand -- the third hand, if you will -- I look at stuff like Age of Ultron (obviously successful, and yet beneath forecasts) and I wonder.

Waffle is tasty!

You don't know about the TFA vs Ultron BO thread?

The Mahvel crowd is here!

Grow up

Nope, I think I missed that thread.

wachie is convinced there's some kind of resentment from the MCU crowd for being wrong about Ultron. It's like bronsonlee's crow thread but not a joke. He's actually being serious in thinking being wrong about box office predictions is embarrassing.

Considering how they designed their logo, I think actually removing The Force Awakens would've been closer to their intention. :p

I hate that they didn't follow the rebranding done for 1-6. It bothers me to no end. The font chosen for "The Force Awakens" is especially bad.

My parents sent us the Darth Vader toaster. I have no idea what to do with it, they're not cheap ($50) but while hilarious it's super huge, and we don't really know what to do with it. The waffle maker is at least a bit more practical.

dalek's crow thread was terrible, never forget.

so glad one hasn't been made for star wars, even if it would actually be accurate on the numbers.

Crow should be reserved for spectacularly bad predictions, like saying Star Wars isn't relevant any longer. It's application has gotten way too broad if we're going to apply it to something no one called ahead of time.

I saw TFA just a bit ago again, for science. The crowd was almost as large as my Saturday visit at the same theater. Which is pretty bonkers given the small town I live in.

The only foreseeable crow thread from movie-gaf I think would be somewhat deserving is if BvS reviews extremely well.

I just bought tickets for Saturday with my mom. My fiance said he didn't think he could sit through the movie again lol.

I have actively stopped both my sister and mother from going to see TFA.

I'm helping!

They hate going to the movies and prefer almost anything else
