This is also only for the first film. Unlike Ford and Abrams, they have two more movies to make bank on. Honestly, the more important thing for them is to ensure that they have a career outside of Star Wars after the films. Getting breakout roles as new leads in a Star Wars trilogy and making millions of dollars is great, but hopefully they can take advantage of that and make it even more in the future.

Harrison Ford is pretty much the only actor out of all six Star Wars films that managed a massive movie career after the fact. Gonna be interesting to see if any of these newbies break out, I'm thinking Oscar Isaac has the best shot.

So I'm thinking, is it possible we see SW hit 200 million for a second weekend with the big Christmas day bump on Friday? Say 80 65 55 this weekend? I know it sounds ludicrous to say aloud but the numbers is doing are unprecedented at this point. 80 on Friday is a fifty percent drop from last Friday with a holiday that doesn't seem impossible.

The 120 from last Friday includes something like 50 million in Thursday showings, which this Friday won't have. I think the highest we'll see Friday hit is 65 or so (but that's even that's a stretch).

I'm convinced the warm weather also has something to do with this. /tinfoilhat

There was a bible-esque rainstorm by me today and all 3 screens 6:30-7:30 were sold out and jam packed. No snow helps, sure, but I truly don't know if people would stop if it were just a normal, cold december.

It is crazy Daisy Ridley went from never having a single movie role ever to starring in this boxoffice monster.

I don't like it at all honestly. It feels so artificial. What challenges did she have to overcome? Where were her failures? Just another example of Hollywood self-insert fantasy ruining the narrative.

Snow prevents people more than rain!

Box Office Theory forums are what you would get if you created a hybrid of Pop-GAF and Wrestle-GAF, and switched the focus to box office numbers.

If you are including Oscar Isaac who already had acclaim coming out of Inside Llewyn Davis, then you have people like Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor who had pretty solid careers despite doing Star Wars fairly early on.

She has to be careful and not turn into a female Worthington.

I liked Worthington in Avatar, but Daisy Ridley is clearly a much better actor. Plus, she has two more sequels coming out in the same decade as the first film in the series, so she's got that on him.

I'm not saying Oscar Isaac is currently a major movie star, I'm saying he has the best chance of becoming one. I'm talking Ford/Dicaprio/Smith/Cruise tier.

I've never seen her pervious work before. Has she had impressive performances in the past? Because while she decent was in TFA, it wasn't any better than say, Emila Clarke on Game of Thrones.

Daisy Ridley already has a big advantage over Worthington in that her most famous and expressive role isn't playing a blue CGI cat person.

That's not true at all. Ewan McGregor has been very successful- he just doesn't chase commercial films a whole lot but that seems by design. Same with Portman (who has an Oscar BTW). And this guy Liam Neeson makes the occasional flick too.

Yes, Hayden Christensen doesn't have much of a career. Not sure if that's unfair or not (I seem to recall liking Shattered Glass and did not like Jumper. Don't know if I've ever seen him in anything else). But the rest of the main cast of the prequels have done quite well for themselves.

Remember that the only reason Age of Ultron doesn't have an extended cut is because Joss Whedon specifically doesn't want to do it.

Has Abrams ever done an extended cut? I doubt that Kathleen Kennedy is going to push for extended cuts of films if the director isn't interested.

About a trillion more people are going to see Daisy Ridley in TFA compared to Game of Thrones, that opens a hell of a lot of doors.

Being the lead of one of the biggest movies of all time is a lot different than being an ensemble cast member on a cable tv show.

Portman, McGregor and Neeson were all fully established actors already.

At least we get to see him and know who he is. I couldn't tell you with a gun to my head who played uh... the main love interest, whatever her name was.

Nope.

So far as anyone knows, the cut he delivered is the cut he wanted out there. Which simply means he botched the edit in a couple instances and was cool with it.

If there are deleted scenes released at ANY point, someone's gonna cut that shit back into the film themselves, though.

Star Wars basically gave birth to the fan-edit community, so there's no way they're not going to do the same when an honest to God new Star Wars hits home video.

That's actually what I expect to happen long term to both Ridley and Boyega. And it's not a criticism. There aren't many movie stars these days in the sense that people will open movie on their name alone. Hell people are still debating Chris Pratt's status despite headlining GotG and JW.

But there are more opportunities than ever for good actors and that's in TV which is why so many "respected" actors are turning to the TV. Hell one of the biggest genuine movie stars we have right now is also headlining an HBO TV show too (The Rock). Boyega and Ridley proved that they are good actors so I don't think there is any risk that they disappear when these movies are over. But I don't know that they will be headlining movies either. Which is just fine- very, very few people can headline anymore.

...And if her first post Star Wars blockbuster bombs, or her first Oscar bait performance fails, then she won't be seeing any future lucrative film roles in her future. She's too much of a unproven talent for a studio to give her another major franchise. She has to prove to executives that Star Wars wasn't the only draw, and that's super hard for to do. Look at Daniel Radcliff.

If she had an impressive film resume before this, it would be super easy for her to bounce back.

She woudn't have gotten this role if she had a resume before this and be in this position at all. An established actress in this sort of role would never have worked. I am sure her team is going to be VERY careful for her first high-profile non-SW film.
