That was a McAvoy vehicle.

IMDB Summary said:
Told from Igor's perspective, we see the troubled young assistant's dark origins, his redemptive friendship with the young medical student Viktor Von Frankenstein, and become eyewitnesses to the emergence of how Frankenstein became the man - and the legend - we know today.

Daniel Radcliffe ... Igor

Sounds like a McAvoy vehicle to me!

Well now I don't if that should count. McAvoy is the clear star of the picture, but the advertising dept doesn't believe he'll be a draw, so they'll top bill Radcliffe.

What the hell? The movie is about Radcliffe's character. It's from his perspective. He is the lead, full stop. You are digging yourself deeper and deeper here.

You are so wrong.. Billing is all about contracts and negotiations and on some level it's a measure of perceived star power. It isn't up to advertising.

From the mind of Max Landis, the one man in Hollywood who thinks you're supposed to start out writing screenplays for major motion pictures and end up making low-budget YouTube videos for free.

TBF this Mary Sue shit has done more for his name recognition than writing screenplays ever would.

Alright, fine I didn't see Victor Franknstein. The tv spots, and title made me think it starred McAvoy.

Wow, Daniel Radcliffe got two chances. That's sure a lot of chances.

Speaking of Max Landis films, how many chances is Kristen Stewart had now?

Or Robert Pattinson...

Really that's the point- very few films seem to launch people to independent stardom these days. JLaw is probably one of the only ones to really be consistently successful coming off of a major franchise launch.

A launch and a relaunch (X-Men).

Eh, I think that kind of worked in reverse. I don't think First Class really got her any extra attention one way or the other. But, boy, I'm sure Fox was happy that they had her signed into the franchise after Hunger Games hit big and now she has obviously getting promoted heavily in X-Men films.

At least we get to see him and know who he is. I couldn't tell you with a gun to my head who played uh... the main love interest, whatever her name was.

Really? You're not familiar with Zoe Saldana?

Literally all you have to do is make a movie where you put her on a ship

ANY ship

and you've got yourself a box office hit.
Better still, put her on a ship and paint her face some unnatural colour?

Now you've got yourself a global goddamn phenomenon, my friend.
I wouldn't be surprised if she had a hidden cameo in The Force Awakens just to bring the movie some good luck.

Jennifer Lawrence was nominated for an academy award, golden globe, and SAG for Winter's Bone. Then she went to X-Men. She had a great start before Hunger games.

That got her the other stuff, but just being nominated doesn't mean much for future stardom. Look at Keisha Castle-Hughes (and realize that Obara Sand from Game of Thrones was once up for a Golden Statue).

I thought we were talking about box office prospects. Most of the actors we are discussing have had very good critical notices and successful careers. But few people can actually propel that into reliably opening movies.

This is officially the longest BO thread now.

5 of us have more posts here than your average September box office thread gets in total.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
I mean the guy started out with Tigerland, and went on to do Minority Report, Phone Booth and S.W.A.T., and then it turned to shit.

Poor guy - he did date Britney Spears for a day, I blame her. POPGAF would agree.

It's still weird Zoe Saldana's yet to break into the A-list (or the B-list for that matter). She doesn't really show off her acting chops in her films though and she's kinda lowkey on the celebrity side.
