World of Warcraft |OT9| People still play this? Isn't it from 2004

There's been very little in 7.1 with regard to meaningful balance/spec changes. Most of what is there is actually just tooltip fixes to reflect stuff already hotfixed on live, and then a few actual changes like the one you mentioned and I think a single ability being reworked for Ret.
Which ability?

Blizzard needs to fix their servers. They just seem to shit the bed at 21:00 realm time. And cost me my mythic+ key when peopel cant dodge shit at Helya when they get 1-2s lag spikes.

Aaaaaah, wie wiped on the Court of Stars +6 endboss on 1% and if we hadn't we coul have beaten the timer! ;____;
Would have been our first +6 clear in time. But noooo, the CoS endboss of course has to be a fucking DPS check. >_>

Always make damn sure you've collected every buff item from the previous area. They're extremely important for meeting that requirement, which can be annoying when you keep finding Fel Orbs and your group lacks a warlock/DH.

Even then, at higher levels it becomes very tight. I can't imagine the fight is currently even possible at +10 or above with Tyrannical and bad luck on buffs.

I got an 875 Arcanocrystal from Jim, a Heroic Nythendras trinket with a socket, and Mangaza's Madness (dropped from Normal Cenarius), all of that on Tuesday night.

Dreams sometimes do come true.

Was probably one of the craziest RNG luck sprees I've ever had or seen. And we also got like 4 or 5 legendaries to drop that night between our Normal EN clear and the Heroic bosses we killed.

As for the belt, it's definitely a big dps increase in and even out of voidform.

Holy SHIT. Congrats on a fucking fantastic night of drops, wow...

The Arcanocrystal is good for us? I've had a lot of trouble tracking down BIS lists, particularly for trinkets, given that gear can WF or TF with different stats. What lists should we be consulting? Icy veins doesn't have much for shadow priests in terms of gearing.

Again, big Grats. I'd be happy with just Mangaza. Man.

Yeah, we collected it, got the lantern (+10% damage) and the keg (+health/mana reggen). Couldn't do anything with the tome or whatever else spawned. The worst thing, it started lagging around the first boss and didn't really stop until our third or fourth try on the endboss. I am pretty sure we would have beaten him without lags, it being a 1% wipe and all. >_>

I hadn't played in almost 4 years since I started playing again for Legion. Reading the official forums and it feels like every class is terrible. General forum over there is a mess. For some reason it feels worse than I remember in other expansions. Or maybe I have been away from the community for so long, I forgot what it was really like.

Yeah, your first mistake was going there. Honestly, they haven't changed much since I last used them during Wrath. It is nothing but complaining, its awful. If you're looking for advice for your class or what not, icy-veins.com/wow is pretty handy.

But to be fair, there are a handful of specs that are good at most and, at worst, mediocre in some situations. Then there's the middle of the pack, and then there's the bottom. The divide between the bottom and the top is gigantic. Class balance is currently so bad that even the devs have acknowledged it (directly with a quote and indirectly with some large sweeping changes). So while it is true that at any point in time someone is bitching about class balance, it's kinda justified right now.

7.1 will bring in some major tuning, apparently.

Play Monk. All three specs are fun.

As somebody who used to post on the official WoW forums, they're largely a cesspool of negativity and have been for years (especially the General forum). They're kind of a terrible place to look when determining which specs are underpowered in the overall game because everyone thinks their class/spec is terrible and that Blizzard hates them.

But as Xeteh posted above, Icy Veins is a far better resource.

I love Monk but I'm not sure I'd call Brew fun right now, I want to like it way more than I do but compared to other tank classes it feels like a struggle to do anything.

I only played DK & DH on beta, but I can say based on live experience that the playstyle of Brewmaster shits all over Paladin & Warrior in terms of a fun, rewarding gameplay experience. Druid is a tad closer, but the Monk just feels too damn fun to play.

Funniest thing about playing Prot Warrior in mythic raids is how slow I feel the rotation is compared to how many CPM/APM I'm pulling. On our Ursoc kill, I was doing 80 CPM, while no-one else was above 70... Yet it felt so slow!

This is a weird thing coming recently from XIV tanking. I was an overly active tank there and that's at around 30 casts per minute. On DH here, I hold pretty steady around 80-90+. Every tank I've tried has been at least double the activity from what I was accustomed to before so it's fairly refreshing.

TBC time walkers surprisingly fun. Strangely enough we got Terrace first and it was piss easy, and then older ones like mana tombs and arcatraz actually hurt. Seems Terrace is very undertuned or something?

Thanks! I still can't believe it.

As for trinkets, Arcanocrystal is the best one by far if you can get it. Even at 860 it's better than anything else, including mythic trinkets. Swarming Plaguehive (Nythendra's) seems like a solid second place or close to that, it did about 5-6% of my damage on the bosses I was able to test it on.

There's a list of trinkets here https://howtopriest.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=8844, but even the guy who made it says it's probably not very accurate, it seems to undervalue proc trinkets a lot. What I do is check the logs on warcraftlogs and see what seem to be the top trinkets shadow priests are using (keep in mind the trinkets they show there are the absolute lowest ilvl possible of the trinket but it doesn't mean that's the ilvl of the trinket that person is using).

mana tombs hurt? I just had a tank nearly chain pull the entire instance and I wiped the floor with it

Weird shit abound.

My alt scores a 845 titanforged from a WQ, then a 845 titanforged from withered training, then a 850 warforged from an emmisary cache.

Great luck, wrong character.

...ok? Some of the packs hurt our melee focused group, what can I say.

So they hotfixed the emissary caches to have actually more appropriate gear now, right?

About damn time.

Depends how you define meaningful I guess. I've gotten 2 pieces of 835 epic gear from the last two boxes I've opened, which is cool and all but I'm 862 ilvl, so it seems there is a (reasonable) limit on how much the gear can scale up. Which I'm totally fine with, shouldn't go too crazy on gear, and free DE crystals from them.

Seems like pretty bad design to have the buffs be random requiring random professions or classes in a speed run scenario. Last week on our +8 run the only buffs we had at the end were 30% speed and the hp/mp regen one, made the last boss way harder since none were DPS buffs. Though interestingly we found that if you are moving when he starts the charge cast, you can avoid the bleed every time with 30% speed. Still a super tough fight on +8 though without a DPS buff, I had to go resto subspec to heal the person who dropped lowest with a quick swiftmend during the later AoE phases.

Also odd is the fact that the items don't seem to work correctly. "You can use this because of your skill in mining", I was able to use it but I didn't have mining, I don't have an alt with mining, and no one in our group had mining...

I love the Arcway and Court of Stars as Mythic only dungeons that are fun and have interesting gimmicks, but honestly both of them are pretty shitty as part of the Mythic+ system, we generally do those last and avoid them at all if we can help it.

Seems like it. Got an 835 piece yesterday that wasn't warforged or anything, just base item level.

Yeah I got an 840 belt.

Also makes me happy to do it on my main since more epics means more of the crystals from disenchanting.

Oh, speaking of, what neck enchant should I go for for a WW monk, if anyone knows? There's a flat mastery one which I guess would probably be the best (since the mastery for WW monks increases the damage of your next attack if it isn't a repeat of the previous one, and that's always the case since there's the hit combo talent too), but that's so boring compared to things like the satyr one the arrows.

I mean, its more meaningful than an 810 wrist or something when I'm 852.

I have a couple of alts that I've focused on tank specs and I don't know what it is about Arcatraz but almost every pull felt like I had to pop something. Everything in that place hit hard.

I swear that every time the game tells me that random queue needs more tanks and I'll get the bonus for queuing as such that the queues are longer.

Yes Arc was the worst. Theres also a ton of un-dispellable shit which is annoying

Yeah, I feel like most BC dungeons were a lot of "LOL BULLSHIT DEBUFFS"... I'm just talking about tank damage, it feels like damage mitigation doesn't scale as well for relatively new 110s. I've seen 70-80 tanks handle it just fine but my new 110s suffered.

Edit: Almost 7m tank queue, what is this.

On your hidden artifact skin, one of the colors to be unlocked says by running 200 dungeons. Is that *any* 200 in the entire game, or just Legion ones?

I've seen a script posted in places that will tell you how far along you are for the hidden artifact unlocks on wowhead.

/run local q,x,_,a,b = GetAchievementCriteriaInfo,0 for i=1,11 do _,_,_,a,b = q(11152,i) x=x+a end local _,_,_,c,d = q(11153,1) local _,_,_,e,f = q(11154,1) print("Dungeons: "..x.."/"..b) print("WQs: "..c.."/"..d) print("Kills: "..e.."/"..f)

Idk if it works, just repeating what I saw.

It wouldn't be the sincere TBC Heroic Arcatraz experience if it wasn't an absolute nightmare.

Any reason why Guardian druids don't take PULVERIZE?

It seems decent on paper.
You can. It can be situationally good but a single target 5 second stun is pretty weak compared to what other classes can do. Typhoon can stop spell casts more frequently and help with group CC, which is the most generally useful CC.

Chronicle Part II coming in March, apparently. Gul'dan is on the cover.

Looking forward to it. Gul'dan is a cool character, but it's kinda weird with this alternate universe Gul'dan being in game at the same time they talk about main universe Gul'dan in chronicle

Time travel/alternate dimension fuckery is usually a disaster. This is no exception!

I recall there being "hulked out" Gul'dan models being found for the NIghthold fight, and thus he probably becomes a bit demonic (I mean, those spikes grow, so...). So if he becomes a demon, the same rules that apply to Illidan apply to him...

edit: The model I am talking about.

Any reason why Guardian druids don't take PULVERIZE?

It seems decent on paper.

The main problem with Pulverize is it is a pretty significant DPS loss for a questionable survivability gain. Rend and Tear stacks to 6% damage reduction (10% with legendary, making it flat better) AND gives 6% extra damage done to mobs at the same time. Pulverize gives 8% damage reduction, but removes 2 stacks of thrash lowering your DPS a little, but also taking the GCD to Pulv means less swipes or moonfires that can proc Gore and increase rage gen. So for 2% increased DR from Pulv, you also lose Ironfur stack uptime because of lower rage gen. All just a complex way of saying Rend and Tear is simpler to use, has no downside, and increases DPS, while Pulv may not even be a survivability increase in the end even with all its downsides. And it still takes 2 stacks of Thrash to use Pulv, so it isn't even like you can get it up that much faster than Rend and Tear anyway. Unfortunate really, since I loved Pulv in cata, and I wish it had returned. 10% DR, 10% Crit would be cool, and bring back some of the old flavor it had back when it boosted crit.

Didn't mention Lunar Beam, which is situationally awesome as well, but it was easier to just describe why no one used Pulv by showing how the other option is just better in pretty much any conceivable scenario.

You can. It can be situationally good but a single target 5 second stun is pretty weak compared to what other classes can do. Typhoon can stop spell casts more frequently and help with group CC, which is the most generally useful CC.

Seems like you're talking about Mighty Bash, not Pulverize. I use Bash quite a lot, I prefer it to Typhoon personally, but that is because my Mythic+ group has two other AoE Stuns, so AoE CC is rarely an issue, but a well timed ST stun helps more. I think the CC tier is mostly based around group comp tho, and they all can work depending on the situation.
