World of Warcraft |OT9| People still play this? Isn't it from 2004

So mother of all unpopular opinions here but... I miss garrisons. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't miss the content involving them, but I do miss the actual location, hear me out. There was something special about having my own place that I was in control of. Getting a new follower and seeing them walking around, seeing Birchus show up after the quest line. Swapping the buildings around as I chose. Getting a bank and AH set up there. Really felt like my little place, and all of my alts garrisons were slightly different. I was never one of those people that felt like I never left my garrison in WoD, I did a few daily things there then left to do whatever I was doing that day, but I also PvPed a lot so I spent plenty of time in stormshield.

I spend about as much time in my order hall as I did in my garrison, and I'm beginning to grow a bit tired of the order hall. Sure, I guess I see other people there, but I certainly don't interact with them, so they might as well be NPCs. And I am getting a bit tired of the routine of going between the 3 places that matter in my order hall (weapon forge, work order people and mission table). The order hall never changes and I have no impact over it, nor can I improve it in any way. All of my followers and all the NPCs are always in the same spot. As weird as it sounds my garrison felt more alive than my order hall does, even without players in it.

Oh well, guess I just miss having my own place that I had some control over, even if it wasn't optimally implemented. Too bad they fucked up so badly with the content associated with it, and we will likely never get something like that again.

Also what happened to Suramar blue quests? There used to always be like 3-4 of them at once everyday. But now, it's like 1 or 2.
Like today emissary is Nightfallen and I'm forced to do the damn Withered Training WQ because my only other options are 3 regular WQs and a pet one, which i don't bother doing because all my pets are lvl 1.

My suspicion is that it has to do with the new Suramar campaign. Much like how the 7.0 Suramar WQs would unlock as you did the story, it seems like they more or less reset that with 7.1, and new ones will be available as we progress through the new storyline. Unfortunately, this one is weekly gated, so it will end up with very few quests for a long while.

Flotsam, who is indeed one of the ones that can drop the enhance appearance.
Ohh, nice!

They're meant to be things to look forward to throughout the duration of the expansion, which I understand, but it'd be nice to be able to get them a lot sooner so you can enjoy them longer. Who knows if they'll carry over to future expansions.

Seeing all of the requirements for the various appearances I liked really dulled my enthusiasm for Legion. Most of it I'll never do and a new skin for my artifact is not enough motivation to do any of it.
Yeah, it's sort of a bummer. I mean some of them should be saved for top end raiders / PvP'ers, absolutely, but at least throw us regular folk a few different colorways :p

I'd miss Garrisons too, if I was the real commander in them and not a random peon doing the busywork which should have been done by my followers, like picking the flowers, mining the rocks, emptying the crates and going around putting in requests.

Cleared Karazhan and I really enjoyed it. It definitely helped that we had a good and talkative group, but I seriously haven't had this fun doing pve in years. Wouldn't mind getting somr useful drops though. I did get 865 legs from the quest chest at least.

The amount of entitlement and sheer hatred for them actually trying something new and hiding stuff in the game is laughable

I think Blizzard is awesome for trying to slow down and/or hide progress in the game. Too many times people just rapidly consume the content and feel frustrated there isn't anything left. Try to alleviate that issue? They get yelled at.

No one is complaining about blizzard hiding cool stuff in the game. The reaction would be nearly as bad if all of them were more or less equally hard to obtain, the problem is obviously the imbalance of that. it sucks if other appearances are super easy and yours is a super low chance of a mob that you can only kill once a day.

Yeah. It's the same thing with Legendaries. Legendaries used to be reserved for 1 person in a guild group, and it usually took months for that person to get it. You were fucking lucky if you knew the right people to get picked to get the Legendary.

On the secret appearance thing, if they set the rate too conservatively, then that makes sense. But there is an amount of entitlement that I've seen this expansion that I haven't seen in any other expansion.

I think the varied types of acquisition have come back to bite them in the ass, yeah. They should have had more similarities to them, but that might have made it easier to find them all.

The treasure hunt like feel to them really made it special, especially the Ret Paladin old meme post one.

Eh, they're trying. It seems there are a few archetypes to the quests-

They can be a random drop, IE: Fire Mage from Suramar, Guardian from Ursoc, Elemental from Rares

They can be on a random timer-IE Arms, Frost Mage

Wither training

Or they will have an involved quest to unlock it. Usually each class has one of their artifacts be done by an involved quest.

And that's fine tbh.

But if your artifact skin drop is just from a world boss and the bosses rotate then you only get 1 shot at it every 2-3 months? That's kind of really stupid.

The Arms Warrior one didn't appear for a whole 2 months. "Conservative" is putting it nicely.

That said this is just for cosmetic appearance so I'm not too bothered about it overall. I think it's totally not cool to the classes/specs locked behind months long waits. Having them be convoluted secret quests like the Ret Pally one is fine. But just waiting 2+ months for a spawn to have a chance to get it is pretty lame.

First legendary item, Mangaza's Madness, acquired. Dropped from Helya on a Mythic+ 2 Maw of Souls run.

Congra-Holy crap that is a shitty looking belt.

I'll criticize Blizzard for one thing, is that it's the legendaries look bad >_> thank god I got a ring. I would've...would've like a little animation on my hand tho.

Nothing about player reaction is surprising. I fail to really see how this is an issue of "entitlement". Players spent massive amounts of time trying to solve open ended riddles that sometimes had virtually no clues for items that were just flatly unobtainable. It's not like I think Blizzard has some kind of malicious intent, but their failures in this area left an experience that was unrewarding, insulting, and ultimately deceptive.

Arbitrary hidden time gating is not something to applaud and it added nothing to the game. There is not some kind of special magical experience because Blizzard frustrated players for months by asking them to search for content that could not be accessed. This is not real content, and nothing about the end goal for the especially elusive skins turned out to be well hidden.

People had been saying that the remaining hidden skins were tied to as yet unspawned World Bosses as a joke. Turns out they were right.

One has a elaborate questline inspired by a years old internet forum post, others have to wait until a certain thing has appeared (could be days, could be weeks) and some just have to spam Withered Training and pray to the RNG Gods.

They can't be surprised some people are a bit miffed about the whole thing...

At the end most of it is just an RNG roll. On my Monk it comes down to a loot roll every day, one every 3 days and one once a week. I'm not sure if I would call that "trying".

Honestly, the majority of classes has atleast one of the artifacts dropped from an elaborate quest(The exceptions being Shamans, Hunters, or Monks.)

Yeah the random drop from a world boss that may or may not spawn, or from a daily trigger sucks, but it is what it is. As far as implementing a new system goes, they did a decent job for the majority of classes.

They all can't be winners~

Except you don't need the wq to farm the world boss for your skin if that boss is up all week. Do the wq, then farm it.

I get three tries on a weekly lockout.

Warrior is RNG check inside class hall, RNG check in random cave, world boss drop. DK is the same where there are no elaborate quests. "It is what it is?" Okay...well it's bad. If they can't do the work don't bother.

Fine no hidden artifact appearances for DK or warriors.

Fine with me.

I had heard it can't drop on bonus rolls, if that's what you mean.

That applies for all doesn't it?

But no I am not talking about bonus rolls, talking about farming as in killing.

Still better than my weekly time out. Three tries, no bonus roll for it either.

I'm...confused. Where are the three tries coming from if not the extra loot rolls? I must be missing something.

Unrelated, but at least one of the Falcosaur mounts is locked behind the Nighthold. Direbeak requires you to kill Krosus.

They might as well. Nobody actually believes Blizzard cares about those classes anyways.

If they cannot think of enough interesting ways for specs to unlock hidden appearances it's not really an idea worth implementing. That there are apologists for Blizzard sending players on a scavenger hunt that could not be completed for months is just unreal to me.

There's like

40 specs in the game. Giving each one a unique quest would be cool, but the realities of development make that hard to achieve unless it was a primary feature of the expansion.(That is, hidden artifact appearances).

It also would've been cool for Blizzard to come out and say 'Hey it's a random chance each day' but that would just ruin the fun of it.

Oh. I thought we were talking the world boss out in the world not raid instances.

Yea wasn't very clear about that early on, just realized.

But yes mine is a random chance off of one boss in a weekly raid timer.

Where as the World Boss one, you can repeatedly kill for the entire week is farmable (if you are that dedicated). No bonus rolls, just killing. You don't need the wq for the skin to drop, just the boss. Think the only thing that can screw you is if your boss doesn't spawn till the end since they fixed the whole same boss can't spawn in succession.

Hmm, trying to decide on an alt to play to level with some friends through the last two zones they have to do. Already have my Druid and Shaman at 110, and played through most of the DK campaign already. Any suggestions as to which classes have Order Campaigns that are really interesting or worth seeing through to the end?

DK has been pretty excellent, really liked Shaman, Druid was reasonable but ended kind of meh. Any others that are really quite excellent and worth experiencing? (aside from DH, still never bothered to get mine past 98, while I have every other class at 100 already)

DH's ending is the best.

My shadow priest alt just got a legendary. Not exactly what I wanted but not the ring so~

Zenk'aram, Iridi's Anadem. 250% more healing from vampiric touch in voidform.

Was hoping more for the other ring, the Twins' Painful Touch, which would make putting out dots easier (spreads shadow word: pain and vampiric touch to 3 enemies nearest my target with the first mind sear after entering void form).

But it isn't the secret one so, meh I"m ok.

I don't even think the frost one looks great but I've been watching all the people during the hunt and holy crap waiting on a random world boss spawn must be infuriating for them.

You never know which boss can spawn on a given week and sometimes withered Jim spawns twice. Imagine missing the week this boss spawns as well. Horrible design decisions all around.

Apparently Jim spawning a second time was an error and by the time they got around to maybe changing it, a fair amount had run him already, so they ended up with a dilemma. Either they change it to the boss it was supposed to be, and thus give those who ran Jim already a second boss to fight and loot, or leave him in. They chose the latter.

That said, still annoying.

I didn't mind two Jim's, that trinket is great but in terms of unlocking a hidden item it being gated like this sucks.

Joining various pug groups to kill that world boss repeatedly wouldn't be too bad. Since I actually want the skin and don't have it, can anyone confirm they have actually gotten it this way?

Does the fox mount come from the end chest of withered training even after you have cleared out all other chests? Do you need a certain score to get it?

Fuck, are we not able to transfer ourselves to a different server? I used to do that to go to my old low pop server but it's not longer doing it.

There are a handful of people attempting it in the Shaman discord and so far no one has had it drop like that after 20+ kills.
