It is my most anticipated game for the last few years. With that said, I am going to say NO! I find it absolutely nuts that gamers are spending $100 on "Deluxe" Editions of games that often include a bunch of useless bullshit.

I have no doubt, if GTA 6 proved a success at $100 the rest of the industry would soon follow. It would set a standard I believe would ultimately break the gaming industry. Just my take but you may have another.
Depends what exactly the "useless bullshit" is... if it's something dumb like color swaps or more shark cards for GTAO, then yeah... not interested in deluxe.

But if it's an extra wardrobe options for Lucia... say, for example, a thong bikini to sport out on South Beach... then I'll probably go ahead and work that hour of overtime to be able to afford it.

This could be very bad for the industry

Publishers are waiting on GTA 6 to cost $100 so they raise up the price too. Just you watch. They'll do the same even though none of them took a risk in the range of $2B like Rockstar did.

I wouldn't pay $100 for any modern game on release. Games today are always broken as fuck on release, and they're always incomplete.

Best to create a backlog of games that are at least a year old and play through those while waiting for patches and complete editions to release.

No, in fact i already refuse Sony 79,90€ games most of the time, 90 or 100 will push games into a ballpark that i am not willing to pay for, especially considering that they will drop in price shortly after.

I have nothing against such a price at launch, but will buy after it comes down to around $70. Have a long enough backlog to work through anyway

Absolutely, it's the only game to look forward to right now and with a 99% certainty the best game of this generation. Not that that's a great achievement considering the abysmal output this far but anyway. If any game is worth that price, it's GTA.

For a physical copy, I would never buy a downloadable one.

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
If Rockstar charges $100 for this and it is a success that will become the new standard game rate. All publishers will see that and see the dollar signs.

€100 for a game is a little too much for me. No matter which one it is. I find €80 too much already given the quality of the current games (at launch).

I'm not even sure I'll buy it at 60. I'm worried the game won't be funny and be woke trash. I'm also worried that the rigid mission structure hasn't been changed. For all the freedom the game gives you in the open world, the missions are almost like a movie scene where you're the actor and you need to stay on script or be met with the director yelling cut or in this case the words "Mission Failed" popping up on the screen.

I don't know why people want Rockstar or think they deserved to raise the price of their game to $100.

They will probably break even day 1 and not to mention the online mode that will keep them fed by sharks for another decade to come.

I know that extra $20 is not going to the developers that worked hard the past decade actually making the game.

I don't think anyone sane wants them to raise it to $100 or think they deserve it, but rather people are willing to pay as much. I've put so many hours into the game it's already paid for itself many times over.

I don’t play gta so I’d never buy it anyway. But all I know is the older I get the cheaper I am. Lol. Even though I do home sharing with a friend I think the last two full priced games I bought because I really wanted it day one we’re Witcher 3 and some recent Diablo games. I’ll wait for a deal or leach off my buddy if he buys it out of the blue.

Man every time I read one of your comments, it's always retarded, and this one addressed me takes the cake.

So R* should somehow get a pass on shitty mission design because that's how their games have been so far? So trying to improve in areas where it's lacking is not something a game series should do according to you. Okay... :pie_eyeroll:

As for the second part of your comment it must be a troll because there's been plenty of evidence suggesting as much so I can't imagine somebody commenting on this matter being so uninformed.

What shitty mission design? Just because they don't want to give you freedom to fuck around during missions?

Why is it shitty? It's just what they want to make. If you want to fuck around during scripted missions, there are plenty of other games that let you do that (oh wait, there aren't.)

It's not lacking in anything. It's just what they want to create. It's not a Deus Ex type game, where you can play the game however you want.

And there hasn't been any evidence suggesting as much, but ofcourse your clown ass won't be able to link any of it. Fucking woke bullshit, give me a break. Snowflakes the lot of you. Oh no a black gay man, WOKE!!! Oh no, they aren't making fun of hispanics? WOKE!!! Oh no, they aren't making fun of transgenders?? WOKE!!!

Shitty mission design was one of the worst surprises for me in RDR2 and that's a game that came out years after the last GTA so they had a lot of time to listen to the previous feedback and make changes.

On one hand the game wants you to feel like you're in a breathing living world, on the other hand you have very clear and often annoying restrictions during missions. No one expects missions to offer full freedom, but their limitations should be well hidden within the game. You move just a bit too much away from the mission area? You get a warning. You do something that's not related to mission objectives? There's a chance you'll get a mission failed screen. You want to leave a less important objective for later? No, you started the mission, do it now or else. Absolutely unacceptable.

If there is a game worth 100 dollars even just for the tech, it's gta6.

But better fix your dogshit mission design if you ask for 100 dollars, make half missions strict and cinematic and at least another half that you can solve how you want.

I really don't understand this notion of 'shitty mission design'.

Yes I get the 'you're too far from the objective, turn back'. That kinda sucks. But the freedom to solve missions however you want?

Which open world games actually do that? Basically none right?

I get it, it would be cool. But with the way Rockstar works, and has worked for the past 15 years, I don't see them implementing such freedoms. It would be an actual nightmare to QA. And I'm pretty sure that's a big reason they don't do that.

Rockstar games sell like hotcakes. Why should they listen to complainers on the internet instead of all the people who bought they games?

Also there has been no word at all from Rockstar themselves about the price. This is just a corporate guy thinking out loud about his greed. They want it in as many hands as possible so they can play online which will be the real money maker.

This topic is filled with liars. Would I buy it at that price point? Yes, Rockstar has proven time and time again that they are the best developer in gaming. Every main series GTA game since 3 has been ground breaking. GTA 5 could have been $150 and I still would have been be satisfied with the 60-80 hours I played the game.

Would I be happy about it? No, because it would set a new standard and give other companies permission to again increase the base price of video games to $80.

Not everyone is in to Rockstar games, I personally have zero desire to get GTA6. I rather spend my money and time on MHWilds.

80% of the votes stated that they wouldn't. That's what I'm referring to. There is a significant chunk of people in that poll that are straight up posturing. They'll be playing the game Day 1 like the rest of us while whining about it.

This is why physical is still important.

There are several supermarkets, at least in the UK, who would very much like to stock GTA 6. But they would look at a £100 game and laugh at Take Two until they lower the RRP.

Even if it launched at 100 it would drop to 70 very quickly regardless of how good it is.

Naw, I have enough for a backlog that I'd just wait for a sale. I'm not spending $100 on games. There's only a couple this gen I was willing to spend $70 on. Plus I didn't really even enjoy RDR2 so I have a lot less trust in Rockstar than I did 20 years ago.

I wouldn't mind. I mean if you put $20/mo. away now you would have it by release.

Can people really not save money for what they want?

Players are generally pretty dumb. Just look at preorders for that.

After thinking of how stupid such a move would be, and how it would usher in the new $100 base price - I think maybe I welcome it. Let’s crash the AAA industry, and have a lot of AAA studio closures.

Then it’ll just be the indies left. The ones who truly drive the industry forward.

I think they should reevaluate the pricing for a game. Because if gta 6 and other big open world games starting to be released at 100 dollars, there will definitely be companies that will cheap out with their games and still ask that much of money for theirs.

I don't know if that already exists but they should come up this tier system for games and based on the tiers the game will be placed for the right price.

First of all, I will wait for impressions from people who's opinion I consider worthy. I'm not a very big fan of V so I'm in no hurry to play it.
If I feel that the game is great and does new revolutionary stuff, I will probably buy it when it comes out on Xbox Next and if it is still the same price, I will just split the cost 50/50 with my game-sharing buddy. But there is no way I will ever buy a game for that price even if I can afford it.

I get to play just a few games per year these days and I think it's going to take me at least six months to finish GTA so I don't mind.

So yeah I'm willing to pay 100€ for it if it's as good as it should be.
