Would you buy smaller, self-contained single player stories exploring different characters or locales in the world of GTA6 by R*?

Realizing its been almost 12 years since GTA5, would you be content buying smaller scale games using similar game-play systems and mechanics that were released every 14-18 months?
 
I haven't even bought the main GTA6 game. It was given away on the Epic Store.
The last time R* got my money was Read Dead Redemption 2 on the Series X.
One of a few Regerts buying stuff on Series X. The other was Elden Ring. Should have bought these on PC. :(

I find the writing in anything I played from Rockstar not really interesting (GTA3-5) or just weird (RDR2, MP3), so no thanks. Their sandboxes are great, something I am just not interested in, but proper good SP content is not something I expect from them. They can do GTA Online stuff until RDR3 in 2034 as far as i am concerned.
 
Never will happen when you have sheep and whales paying millions for dumb cosmetics in GTA V. We should have had multiple story DLCs for GTA V but every time they started on it, they had to stop to count money. Why bother?

Yup, happy to buy good quality single-player GTA content that has interesting missions and stories within that world. I am sure they will invest in the world like this with updates and changes to fulfil this side finally and GTO because it's going to be a long ass time before GTA 7 comes. No doubt they will have a huge team to support this game for the next decade specifically while others begin to work on other projects.
 
I loved LC and especially VC stories. Same maps, new story, new characters, new radio stations. Was disappointed when SA didn't get one. So yes I would. The GTA4 DLC was similar on a smaller scale.

This won't happen though, all DLC will be online and you know it.
 
These large open world games would be great for episodic content. I am still not sure why someone hasn't really done it, especially with GTA or a super hero game like Spider-Man.

You buy the main game and it includes:
- 25-30 hr main campaign, along with all the other fun activities
- access to the first "episode" that comes out 3 months after the game, to give people an idea and a hook to get the rest.

You then sell season passes, which include 3-6 episodes through a year, that equate to another 25-30 hr campaign, within the same open world. They could retail for the same amount as the main game, because the content, stories are equal. Sometimes adds new locations and such. You do this for the next 2-5 years as the true sequel is made.


With this approach, you could easily have the new seasons focused on new characters, including playable ones, who interact with the old cast of characters all within the same game world. Going the super hero route, if done right, you could get a huge build up, Avengers style, with a host of characters finally coming together by the 3rd or 4th season. You just have to have compelling writing, and a gameplay loop that will keep people interested in the game, season after season.
 
nope. The story itself is not important for me. Its great that its been generally good. But I play GTA for the gameplay. And I want ALL the gameplay. I dont want a pared down experience. Give me the full sandbox.
If the Full sandbox comes with the smaller story, great. But I am unlikely to buy additional stories.
 
Well, I don't work for rockstar unless you count the money they gave me for shitting on mindseye

Personally, no. I rarely care about the story of GTA. I just buy the games to explore the open world for a few weeks, then never touch the games again.

But those few weeks are GLORIOUS.
 
Yes. Let's say the game has 120 hours of non too repetitive content and a huge map that you can split into 6 regions.

I'd split it in 6 games of 20 hours each, each one in one of these regions.

No, I'm not gonna even buy full GTA6 let alone the smaller versions…..I no longer care for R* games.
