Would you ever consider abandoning consoles entirely for PC in the future?

Yes, absolutely. If it weren't for console exclusives, I'd never buy another console again. Microsoft is taking the right steps with play anywhere.
 
No, I would not consider it unless consoles disappear or become obsolete. There's still a level of ease about playing games on a console that my main desktop cannot give me. The console community is also different.

Until then, I will continue to enjoy both.
 
Yep, i bought a new pc recently, gtx1080 new monitor 1440p 144hz g-sync. For me is the next step into gaming.
Not 4k, hdr, and other useless feature as vr
I like competitive vg, such as rocke league, overwatch, unreal ect...
60 fps for a first person shooter game is not enough in 2017
I'm pretty sure that i won't buy any other console game in future
 
No, doing the opposite is the best thing I've ever done for my gaming life.

I just tinkered forever and barely got any actual game time in. This only happened with newer games, not when I was playing my old faves (bar the occasional dosbox nightmare).
 
I pretty much do anyway, at least I consider it that way. I don't really count the Nintendo consoles I buy, I can give or take them really as I play them rarely, more like a novelty thing.

I love my handhelds though.
 
No, it's too much user friendly the console to be abandoned.
I like the idea to just plug it in and play.

I liked the idea of Steam Machines with SteamOS, because it was something really similar to a console with Steam access, but they like died before becoming even interesting...

I am able to build my own PC, I recently built one for my father, a pretty powerful one for just 900€, that can run everything... but I still prefer to have my console near my TV and play on the couch.
 
For the last 3 years I have and it's been great. I did buy a PS4 to play Bloodborne and ended up selling it after when I saw I still played 99% on my PC.

PC exclusives have become more important to me than any big AAA console exclusive games, I don't really miss them.

We'll need a entertainment unit for our living room, so most likely there will be a console in our household. So not abandoning entirely, but dropping consoles that works well with PC-gaming rather then actively against it. And currently it seems that only the Microsoft has the right idea with shared purchases, play anywhere, cross-platform multiplayer and streaming.
 
Yes OP.

Consoles are a redundant and wasteful hardware when my PC can already run the same programs better.
I bought my ps4 only for bloodborne basically, and I feel guilty for wasting so much resources because of arbitrary exclusivity.
 
I personally can't see myself ever just becoming 100% PC.
I've always had the PC in the study and the console/s in the lounge room.

I game on both, but mostly smaller indie sort of games on my PC and the AAA games on the console/s.
 
I'm the opposite, I've discovered the wonderful world of arcade sticks and I intend to play shmups only from now on as I don't have the resources and time to keep investing in new and expensive PC hardware.
 
No. For me, the games make the machines. Sony and Nintendo exclusives, in particular, are just too good for me to pass on.

I'm a big believer in keeping as many platforms as you can budget financially and time-wise, so as to not miss the best games out there. Not interested removing platforms.
 
I'm mostly there, having gone from all consoles last gen to only a ps4 and 3ds now. I'll stay for handheld though as I haven't found mobile/phone gaming to be an adequate replacement for that. I do need to upgrade my GPU though.

Or because they are the best games. Steam can gift me 50 generic indie titles, but I'll gladly take Bloodborne over any kind of Steam sale. Right now PC is the perfect example of quantity over quality. 80% of my library I probably couldn't even get on PC legally.

Historically it has the most exclusives in certain genres like strategy, though I don't really care for that.
 
Possibly, I like the ease of just buying a console plugging it in and having it work as well as it can and sometimes I just don't want to have to care about graphics sliders and performance/visual tradeoffs. Which I always do when playing AAA games on PC.

But at this point I have my PC connected to my TV, and I use it for most multiplat releases. Also in the past there have been years where I was PC exclusive. So yea I guess I can.
 
I would love to, but right now it seems impossible. I'm an absolute sucker for WipEout, and there are too many japanese games that either don't come out on PC, come out late or get horrible, awful PC ports. Anything by Koei Tecmo (particularily Warriors and currently NiOh but also Ninja Gaiden), several games by Sega (especially Yakuza) and WipEout Omega are good reasons why I can't let go of my PS4.

And then there's Nintendo. Can't live without their output either.

Shmups dont even need new hardware. Even an old laptop suffices.
Also no need to worry whether stick will be PS or XB compatible.
Emulation provides hundreds of shmups, even from the 70s.
 
I don't see this ever happening, no.
The closest I'd come would be to build an arcade cabinet with a mame-box inside and call it a day.
I have zero interest to go back to being a PC gamer.
 
pretty much have aleady. we'll see what happens when switch releases though. But I'm done with sony, the paywalled multiplayer is indefensible.
 
If you had asked me last year I would've said no, but I recently got an Alienware gaming laptop and have almost exclusively been gaming on that ever since. Having your gaming library with you everywhere you go is just so conveniënt. I recently even played the new Doom on the train, and Dark Souls on the airplane.

You keep throwing around the trash titles like the good titles are not even there, comparing bloodborne to indie titles. You know, Dark souls 3 has also came out this year for PC.

And I totally agree that exclusives around here are more appreciated for the sake of being exclusives, then again NeoGAF is driven by console users, big majority here. Which is why is normal that they get GAF's GOTY.

Lmao at users trying to pass the idea that the PC doesn't have top-tier titles.

Edit: To answer the thread, I'm already 99% a PC user, I've got a PS4 for the exclusives and I will keep it that way as long as the budget fits. Whenever I dont have that kind of money to spare anymore because i'm not in my twenties anymore I will drop consoles altogether, not gonna have an extra machine to play 3 titles a year.
 
Not on purpose but i am gaming mostly only PC now and then Nintendo. PS4 is kinda gathering dust

PC is so vastly customizable these days it's hard to argue "muh comfy" with a straight face anymore.
 
I could see abandoning consoles in the further future, just because I only own them now for exclusives, and they've been increasingly putting fewer of those out (in fewer genres) since the PS2 era ended. Too few of those exclusives grab me, vs. the sheer variety of quality titles that hit on PC every year. Steam has opened the flood gates, but there are so many places to find out about the interesting gems that give me a unique experience.

With stuff like Playstation Now on PC and cities starting to get Fiber internet...I could see a time where I mainly play PC games as I do now, but just stream those few exclusives without needing to have multiple boxes. I already have the console experience through the Steam Link, streaming downstairs on my couch with a big-screen, using a gamepad, and have local multiplayer game options.

That's going to be a while though, but I am seeing a falling trajectory in the amount of time I turn a console on. They just don't have as many unique games anymore, less stuff is coming from Japan, more Japanese stuff is coming on PC, and they don't "just work" anymore with day one updates, firmware, SKU upgrades now, etc. The Switch has a cool form factor, but I wonder if other Windows tablets won't mimic what it does in the coming years too.
 
As I get older and have less time to game I care less and less about what a PC offers in addtion and just prefer the simplness of my PS4. PCs are great and all but mine certainly doesnt offer the same ease of use as my PS4 does (and yes both are hooked up to the telly)

But theres are strange questions that have no real answer. Both have advantages and disadvantages that verious people perefer for various reasons. Its good they both exist

I'd like a great gaming dedicated pc for multiplats (don't think it's worth the investment right now though) but i need my console exclusives.

So unless all of them are released on the PC day one: nope.
 
I've basically abandoned most consoles at this point anyway. I mean, there are a handful of Nintendo IPs that I still love and play. Games like Zelda and Pokemon would be really hard to give up.

Also to download patches, games etc without worrying, you'd need at least a 24Mbps Internet connection
We had 50MBps for over 8 months, so I downloaded and upgraded whatever I could. Now we're stuck at 5Mbps again.
No way I'll invest again in 50 GB digital games, PC and consoles. So indie games and games under 5 GB in size are the most convenient. Or else I'll have to leave the machine on for the whole weekend, downloading and crumbling the rest of the daily internet tasks.
Even disc console games will be affected if the patches are huge. PC is more likely to offer smaller yet quality games.
 
EDIT: Oops, wrong thread.

As long as consoles have exclusives that interest me, I'll keep buying them.

I'd still rather play them on PC though, obviously.
