Would you ever consider abandoning consoles entirely for PC in the future?

If I had the money and time, I'd like to get into PC gaming but as it stands I love the convenience and laziness of consoles quite frankly.

Love the fact that I just buy the thing, plug it in and whatever game says 'PS4' on the box for example will play on that machine no questions asked.

doubt it.

If you can afford a kickass gaming pc, you can afford consoles as well (especially during sales a few years later).

I still mostly game on my pc though, but have no issue playing console exclusives.

Not entirely. With the XBOX actually making some progress with BC this generation it would be stupid not to at least wait and see what their plans are moving forward. I have a huge library of games on 360 and xbox one at this point. If they continue making in roads with play anywhere, I'd happily support their TV box moving forward.

Yes. Ive always felt that gaming on a PC is the superior experience for the kinds of games i play. I LOVE console gaming, but keyboard + mouse will always be better imo.

If Nintendo ever goes third party and brings games to PC I'd likely never need to own anything else besides a pc.

I'll probably never swear off console gaming completely; it's just not something I'd ever pay full price for. Console and big-budget games maintain their value pretty terribly, with the exception of Nintendo's evergreen titles. Any title you want can eventually be found for twenty bucks, and I don't need to pay top dollar for a cheap computer to sit under my TV.

I could probably live without Sony's first party. A good PC would give me all of MS' big games anyway, but I could never go full PC due to my love for Nintendo's first party software.

its heading in that direction for me, i have been a console gamer all my life, got my self a gaming pc and sold my xbox one but kept my ps4 which i hardly ever switching on

I play video games on PC or I don't play, simple as that. Every single console manufacturer could close shop tomorrow and nothing would change for me personally.

I don't know about entirely. But for the past 18 months I've had no problem ignoring my consoles. I think I'm so involved in my PC and everything that goes with it that I simply don't care enough to spend money on consoles.
And I don't know if it's because in the back of my mind I know I can play them, but I just don't care if I play the latest console exclusives.

There's also the incredibly useful and cheap tool of gamefly which pretty much offers me the ability to support more than a handful of consoles and never be saddled with feeling like I overpaid for a game. Steam refunds has at least taken away the sting of something straight up broken at launch but I'd still spend more money buying everything I play on PC.

If consoles quit having games that interest me more like: FF15, Digimon Cyber Story, Destiny, Uncharted, Bayonetta 2, Mario, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Splatoon, etc.

Also if PCs start having better controls like the consoles do with Overwatch and Diablo 3.

Nah. I need* to be able to play Nintendo's games. Not like I need to pay for online with them, if only for now.

*I know "need" is a strong word, but...video games

I am a PC gamer, only reason i own 360 i got it for $40 and it came with 2 controllers and 60gb HDD...if it wasn't for the crackhead price, would have gone 12 years no console..just PC..

Probably not. I've had a gaming-capable PC for many years, and I game on it sometimes, but the only way I see anything changing is if the console exclusives I enjoy come to PC... and probably not even then.

Yes, I can do more with a PC than a console at this point in my life. The only thing keeping my from getting a PC now is the fact I live in a 1BR Condo with my GF.

I spend 8 hours every weekday working on computers. Sometimes I just want to sit back and have my games just work.

That being said, if PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox all go under and nothing compelling replaces them, I'd gladly make the jump to PC.

Also if PCs start having better controls like the consoles do with Overwatch and Diablo 3.

Excuse me ? They already have infinitely better controls than consoles. You know both your examples had to be specially nerfed and adjusted because of the inferior input on consoles so they're playable there ?

No, I like my retro consoles + CRT.

For newer stuff - if it was all on PC i'd have no qualms to playing strictly on PC. Since Japan will never fully be on board though I'll have to buy at least PS and maybe Nintendo.

Only if Nintendo goes third-party and releases their games on PC. Like a good half of what I play consists of Nintendo published games.

Even then I might get a console for physical releases.

Oh, and of course I'd still have all of my classic consoles. I just mean for modern gaming.

Yeah, sure. If so many games continue coming to PC I might do that. Not this generation though.

Important: Continued focus on Big Picture and Controller support. I rarely play on my Desk anymore. Only for multiplayer these days.

At this point the pull of console exclusives is too strong, and I still like the couch/controller default setup. I am aware that there are couch/controller options available for PC, but I'm still defaulting to console.

That being said, with console storage constraints getting more annoying, and the prevalence of lengthy installs eating in to the console's convenience advantage, its less of a guarantee than it used to be. If the point comes when the majority of games I want to play are coming to PC, I may abandon consoles.

Never handhelds though, I will keep playing handhelds as long as they exist.

All my friends play on Xbox, and have for a long time. So IDK. I have a PS4 and PC, and they are great, but it's hard for me to make friends online at my age. So it would take a lot for me to abandon my core group.

I don't see why you'd limit yourself like that.

I personally wouldn't due to the occasional exclusive Souls games on this PlayStation thingy. Ands I gotsta play my Souls games.

I went PC only in 2012 and I can't really say I've felt compelled to turn back and get a console until the switch reveal, the 2 in 1 gimmick is a bit too attractive to skip.

I love the ultimate BC of PC and the fact that you can improve the framerate and resolution of your older games, on consoles i have to hope for remasters and buy the game again.

But the prospect of having to trouble shoot problems with my lack of knowledge for that platform keeps me in the console ecosystem.

Nah. As I get older, I can see myself becoming more casual and just getting a single console as opposed to multiple like right now as I get less and less free time. Investment into a PC wouldn't be worth it.

And miss some of my favourite exclusives created by Sony and Nintendo? Not a chance.

Plus I prefer gaming on a console, speaking from experience.

I could. Was a PC gamer (only) up till about Jan 2015 when I got a PS3 (which was cheaper used than the PS4 I would've gotten instead). I've enjoyed the PS3 a lot and am definitely glad that I got it, but it's still hard to find the 5 or 6 exclusives I'd want to play that'd make it worth buying a PS4, and some of the decisions Sony's made make it easier to stick with what I have than make the leap (most especially having a problem that took out auto updates and save uploads for PS+ on PS3 for about a month last year, and not saying anything publically about it or even acknowledging it, but issuing an extension for a PSN outage that happened (and affected PS4) during the same time).

If I had no PC and was console only it'd be a harder decision but my feet already half in the PC camp anyways, and so are most of the games I'd want to play.

I could only if the first parties released all of their games on PC. As it stands, I enjoy some exclusives from every company enough to buy their platform. We'll see how long Play Anywhere lasts. I couldn't ever give up PC either.

No. I need my Nintendo fix.
but i can easy live without Uncharted and other sony series :)
Xbox is almost on PC anyway

I just never had the allure for PC gaming. I enjoy the ecosystem of Playstation and to an extent Xbox and Nintendo.

I'll always be a living room gamer and the thought of spending more on PC hardware rather than using that capital for a new 4K and PSVR doesn't match my cost-value beliefs right now.
