THE ROCK INJURED PREPARING FOR NEW FILM, SURGERY SCHEDULED

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon injury yesterday during a football practice in preparation for his upcoming role as a professional quarterback in the Disney comedy, THE GAME PLAN. Johnson will undergo surgery Friday in Miami by world-class orthopedic surgeon Dr. John W. Uribe. Production has been put on hiatus and will continue when he can resume his role in the film.

"While this is a set back for our production schedule, we completely support him as he recuperates and look forward to resuming production when Dwayne is fully recovered," said Nina Jacobson, President of Walt Disney Motion Picture Group.

In a prepared statement Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson said ... "I approached this role trying to be as true to the character as possible and the fact is professional athletes train hard and get hurt. My injury, while serious, is unfortunately common with this type of activity. I am so appreciative of the outpouring of support that I have received from Disney, and all those involved with this film. I anticipate that with some TLC, pizza and a lot of donuts, I will be making a speedy recovery and will be able to get myself, and everyone who has been working so hard on this production, back to the business of doing what we love most, making movies."

i enjoyed ECW. i didn't catch any of the other ECWs so far, but it seems like this'll end up being as good as RAW

Orton looked like he badly hurt his wrist or forearm.

Now's WWE's only opportunity to make Orton awesome. Two things: 1) Give him a ****ing cast and have him wear it for years like his dad, or 2) Bring back the RNN.

Test is good for ECW. As someone said, he could definitely fill in the Mike Awesome role.

RN F'N N! AND the cast, damnit. Smarmy Orton is damn awesome; we need it back. None of this legend killer shit, I want to know what percentage his arm is at!

It appears that Randy Orton's shoulder will be OK.

When he got to the back after the match, his shoulder was popped back into place and he was then taken to the hospital for tests.

I actually saw Randy leave in the ambulance backstage where I was told he was being sent to Albany Medical Center for further evaluation.

*whew The Legend Killer is Ok is seems, and the wrestling world is safe....for now.

That was a sweet RKO he put on Angle with a dislocated shoulder.

Randy probably raised his level of respect in the back for toughing it out. Though his work was never the problem in the past.

One thing that I don't understand is why no one seems to care that RVD has the WWE belt. You would think Vince would be giving Edge a pep talk to 'bring the WWE title back home!!!'. But no one seems to give a ****. Now if HHH had lost the title, it would be the #1 angle on the show.

Exactly.

However, if Vince was more concerned with the title race, the DX setup wouldn't be as good.

I sorta have the vibe that DX is distracting Vince's character on Monday's from everything else, and I sort of like that. ECW invading? Doesn't bother him. All that bothers him is that DAMNED HBK AND HHH.

Liu Kang Baking A Pie said:
They could at least have someone go up to Vince and say "dude, the title's gone" and he brushes it off. As it is, it just looks like no one cares and it buries RVD's win.

I've been waiting for something like that.

WWE probably won't do that. Oh well.

Man, Venegeance is THIS Sunday. Wow.

I just remembered something.... Remember last year, during Raw home coming or around then at some point...Triple H went to see Vince as he arrived in the parking lot. The segment ended with Triple H and Steph smiling/starring each other and the cut to commercial.

In light of Triple H's "hung like a horse" crack this past monday, I think they are building it to bring Steph and HHH's relationship back to WWE TV(again). With Triple H further sticking it to Vince by revealing he fathered Steph's baby..(We all know he really did, but they havn't touched on who the father is on TV).

From the latest PWInsider audio:

-Paul Heyman had a lot more influence on the show last night, but like always, at the end of the day it was Vince who said what goes. Vince realized there were problems last week, and was open to suggestions for this week.

-Behind the scenes, everyone was saying that they also felt that the show last night was a hell of a lot better than the first episode.

-Francine, CM Punk, and CW Anderson are all scheduled to debut for ECW this weekend at the show on the 24th. Test may go ahead and make his debut then also.

-Test was going to debut last night on the SciFi show to do the role that Sandman did, squashing Macho Libre. The only reason that didn't happen is because Paul Heyman got his way to let Sandman do it.

I like the gimmick. That is, Sandman coming down and squashing random goofy "sports entertainment" jobber every week. Keep doing this and build it up to where eventually someone gets sick of Sandman being served cupcakes week after week and you have yourselves a PPV match. Seems like a reasonable way to build Sandman's persona for a largely new crowd.

Well, that or licensing his music. Geez.

This past Monday's edition of RAW did a 4.3 cable rating with a 7 share. That number is up slightly from last week's 4.2. Not surprising to anyone, the rating peaked at the quarter hour that featured the DX Reunion overrun which did a 5.2.

Hopefully CM Punk is that man...

Time for yet another CM Punk avatar to commemorate this occasion!

Do you want Punk having to go in there, especially in his (presumably) first appearance in ECW, with Sandman?

If I were a betting man, I'd bet it would be the guy who was supposed to get the spot in the first place, Test.

Straight Edge Punk ripping on Sandman for never reaching the big time because of booze, drugs, and women would be ****ing gold. Test can feud with Mike Knox, Big Show or someone...

I just finshed watching Smackdown from last Friday. Wow it was pretty good. Lots of actual wrestling. I found it to be much more entertaining than either Raw or TNA at this point. I've yet to see ECW but I'll give it a try tonight and will stick with it atleast until CM Punk has been around a while.

I really wish they'd move Haas to either Smackdown or ECW. I mean lets face it the guy is probably never gonna tear up the mic(though he's not bad) so why have him on the show that is based more on storyline than wrestling?

It would be just like his fued with Raven in ROH. Which was sweeeeeet

More than anything else, they have a good opportunity to build these people up to be "something". Clearly, with Big Show being booked as a heel, they need to throw a face at him. Dreamer/Show makes the most sense, as Dreamer can therefore get over as the "people's face" so to speak. It would also give them the ability to pull out a debut to take on Big Show.

In terms of the ECW title, the build they've giving Sabu makes me think that Sabu/RVD is really quite likely, at least in terms of the short term. Test could theoretically rise to such a level with a strong workrate, plus the fact that the audience will theoretically know who he is. I think it's clear from the point that Vince wanted Test to be the one to attack Macho shows that they plan on using Test in a fairly prominent role.

What this show provided was finally places for things to build from; there is now a strong entrance point for CM Punk, from the perspective of the TV Title most likely, and with more OVW talent I think that they can really push forward and create a strong wrestling show. I will be glad to see this WWE/ECW connection die off a bit, but there is some promise.

ECW on SCI-FI this week drew a 2.3 cable rating. That is down from last weeks 2.7 but there was very stiff competition from the NBA Finals. Every quarter hour improved throughout the show.

SCI-FI was only expecting ratings in a mid 1.0's so to say they are thrilled in an understatement

Pretty damn good considering it was up against a potentially decisive NBA finals game, and were coming off a horrible first episode. Apparently the final segment and overrun drew 2.7..

Its impressive that they're getting Smackdown ratings..

Word around TNA’s locker room is that the once considered “leader” Christian Cage is starting to change. When Christian first came to TNA he was praised for rejecting an offer from World Wrestling Entertainment. It is now being said that Christian is more concerned about aspiring a movie career instead of being the best wrestler.

Sources close to the situation are comparing him to Chris Jericho, stating that his mind is just on other things than wrestling. His reputation has been going on a steady decline since his debut with TNA last November.

That totally reeks of stinktatude you chumpstain. Remember when you one one part of the fightingest tag team ever?

To most people, moving from wrestling to acting would be a no brainer...you work less (and there is less physical strain on your body) for usually more money.

I would love to see a movie starring Chris Jericho and Christian.

I bet Jericho made more money doing that shitty"Terminator" Sci-Fi movie than what he made in WWE.

Ummmm...I HIGHLY doubt that. Jericho was making a good living in WWE, he just had other interests. In a recent interview he said that WWE made him a millionaire so no in the end he can't really talk bad about his time there and left the door open to come back. He said that is the only company he would come back for.

The news about Christian doesn't surprise me. On f4wonline a couple of months ago they reported that TNA's feeling towards Christian was starting to sour and Christian's feeling about TNA was doing the same. Mainly because people thought he wasn't really putting much effort into his job and didn't take it seriously. Supposedly his wife is rich and he is aspiring to be an actor so maybe TNA isn't that important. Seems to me that traditionally, being on the 'road' is part of being a wrestler. Maybe now that he is always home, he just doesn't get the same rush. Instead of getting out of a hotel, going to do a show, he just drives down to the arena for work. Dunno, but anyone know how long his contract is?

I don't blame him at all. The goal in wrestling would be to get as much money as you can and then get out before you damage your body too much.

From 411mania.com/wrestling
During a promotional interview for the WFA PPV on 7/22 today, Bill Goldberg was asked about whether he would ever go to TNA. Goldberg said he has no plans to do anything with them right now. He said it would take heavy negotiations with SpikeTV and a deal similar to the one Sting has to get him to come in. He did confirm that Sting has talked with him about coming out of retirement. He said he hopes TNA gets a better timeslot and would only go there if they make a real financial commitment to competing with WWE. He wasn't very positive about the TNA product, saying he has "stomached" some of it. When asked about Samoa Joe, he said he would "break his neck."

The following is from Lex Luger's MySpace blog:

I HAVE BEEN RECIEVING QUESTION AFTER QUESTION ABOUT THE WWE. SO IM GOING TO ANSWER AND TELL EVERYONE ABOUT THE WWE. I PERSONALY THINK THAT THE WWE PRODUCT IS GARBAGE! YOUR CHAMPS FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS HAVE BEEN JOHN CENA. AND REY MYSTERIO? CENA IS A JOKE AND REY HAS THE WORLD TITLE BECAUSE EDDIE DIED AND BECAUSE RANDY ORTON IS A IDIOT. IE RANDY WAS GOING TO WIN THE BELT OFF OF REY BUT HE GOT SUSPENDED. SMACKDOWN IS WORSE THEN THE OLD WCW THUNDER DAYS. COME ON YOU HAVE A WORLD CHAMP THAT IS MAYBE 200 LBS. ITS GARBAGE AND IT IS A SLAP IN THE FACE HAVING THIS PERSON WEARING THE WORLD TITLE. ITS AS SHITTY AS A STORY LINE AS ARQUETTE WINNING THE BELT. AND WHY DO THEY FEEL THE NEED TO BURY BOOKER T.? AND AS FOR CHRIS MASTERS. YOU CANT CATCH LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE TWICE. I JUST THINK THE WWE BOOKERS NEED TO GO BACK TO WRITING DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

ECW:
YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME RIGHT?? THIS IS NOT THE ECW AND IT NEVER WILL BE AS VINCE WILL SHIT ON IT. IT WILL BE A JOKE! WATCH AND LEARN

NOW TO ANSWER ALL OF MY FANS NO I DONT WANT TO MAKE A FULL TIME COMEBACK. IM 48 YEARS OLD. YES THE DOORS TO TNA COULD BE OPEN. I LOVE TNA. THE ATMOSPHERE BACK STAGE AT TNA IS THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS. THE WRESTLERS ARE THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS. TNA IS A FAR BETTER PRODUCT THEN WWE HAS RIGHT NOW.

YES I DO MISS WCW AS I WAS THE ONE THAT WAS GOING TO WIN THE WORLD TITLE OFF OF SCOTT. ERIC WANTED ME TO HAVE A LONG RUN WITH THE TITLE. THANKS FOR KILLING THE IDEA WWE,VINCE AND ALL THE REST OF YOU ASSHOLES!

:lol :lol :lol Atleast he ran spell check through SOME of it this time. He also makes some valid points in the first paragraph.

So the setup for TNA 2007 is already in the works!

Samoa Joe becomes champ.

He reigns supreme, to the delight of his fans.

Then Goldberg comes in and ends his career with his Hitmankick, becoming NWA champ.

Goldberg rules until one man comes forward to take him out...

My sources tell me that the Ultimate Warrior is actually planning a suprise come back at Wrestlemania 23...However, due to the WWE's new substance abuse the Warrior had to change things a bit:

Finally, I get to see this CM Punk guy.

I agree with Biohazard. He's been built up so much I can only see letdown.

From what it sounds like, he's wrestled 5 star matches before. Which means his OVW training has probably made him as "good" as Cena or Batista.

Can somebody give me the link to Luger's blog? I agree that Mysterio being champ is a joke, only because it was given to him after Eddie's death, but not because of his size.

TRADEMARKS!!!!!!

WWE is close to finalizing 'World Wrestling Federation' trademark. It's going through the 'opposition' phase.

Meanwhile, Anheuser Busch Inc. is opposing the 'ECW One Night Stand' trademark. No reason given why; while WWE is opposing Bubba Ray Dudley Inc.'s trademark of 'The Deadly Brothers'. Again no reason given why, but its probably obvious why.

In non-WWE trademark news, a company in Italy called Tod's S.p.A is opposing "Hulk Hogan", "Hollywood Hulk Hogan" and "Brooke Hogan" because they own a trademark to "Hogan". As well, another company based in Chicago called Stealth Industries Inc is opposing "Hulk Hogan" and "Hollywood Hogan" because they own a trademark to "Hulk".

NFL Properties LLC, Baltimore Ravens Limited Partnership and Scott Levy himself are opposing TNA's trademark of "RAVEN".

So we're gonna rerelease all the edited dvds?

I don't think so. The new logo with the F drawn on the scribbly looking one is still banned because of the agreement reached with the World Wildlife Fund.

They can use the classic logo, but they can't use the newer one with the stems of the F on it.
