I'm not totally up to date on this, but it seems like it's when a guy is unashamedly pervy toward attractive women. This is bad. But only for heteros. If it was anything else under the rainbow, we celebrate their courage.

Edit: for clarity, this is somewhat sarcastic. And some gooner stuff is honestly fucked up. But it's just one of those *eyeroll* words that's been weaponized to avoid any actual nuance.

Watching Fightincowboy's review right now, the respec system in this game is amazing. You can freely respec, and weapons keep their level as you switch specs to different weapon types. Pretty cool.

He praises the world design as well, saying it has really good locale variations (which is my only complaint about Khazan, i.e. - you're almost always in a rundown castle). He even compares some of the level design/shortcuts/secrets are DS1 in quality. Hype rising!

I live life on the edge between edging and gooning. Gooning and edging.

Imagine being so retarded as a dev, so derived from reality, that you WILLINGLY make a decision to lock your souls when dying in the boss room instead of putting it outside of the boss room like every game that evolved from Dark Souls 1.

Imagine.

I am so used to playing DS1, had not thought about it, as my souls are always up in the boss room. Would be a QOL to have it outside the door lol

Khazan and Lies of P do this. 🤔 is it too easy if you don't have to fight the boss to get your souls back? You could use a homeward bone and go back to the campfire.
Never boned during a boss fight lol maybe that one is on me. Kinda the "reward" part after killing the boss to me was getting to retrieve your souls, so long as every time you went to fight you snagged them prior to dying again

Even if you do decide to level up before the boss, you make sure you don't die. The additional reward is all the soul stacking. Instead of 1-2 levels, it could be 3-4 additional levels. IMO it's what started the whole high risk, high reward achievement in gaming. It's praised until its gimmick over stays its welcome and the frustration doesn't teach the same principles. Making Dark Souls a monumental achievement in gaming. I'd say Demon's Souls, but most of us know why.

Keys got delivered today. Already activated. 👌

I will be purchasing Saturday when I am off Sunday/Monday and can give it it's proper time. May going ahead and buy it, but just not boot it up though.

Platinumed Wukong and many other Souls games but man I don't know if I'm getting old or what but I'm so torn on getting this going, seeing that the world is full of poison and gotcha moments and stuff that feels more like ways to aggregate players rather than be a tough but fair play. Hearing the bosses are when you can sorta relax as they're not overly cheap.

Game looks good tho, but yea torn on it

I'm mildly interested in this but with it being a UE5 game, I think I'll wait and see what it's like performance wise on PC before committing.
This is the performance apparently,if true it's fucking bad.Surely this is bullshit

Game is a skip, 15h in impressions:

Negative
— Why are there generally 1 bonfire every hour or so? We went from evolving the genre with Marika checkpoints to this?

— It's impossible to know if a boss is around the corner or through a door and when you die against the boss, you can't teleport out even with items. If you die on that boss, your souls are stuck there until you defeat the boss. Again, what happened to the evolution of the genre?

— Most of the time, there's no feedback when getting hit so you assume the enemies are whiffing but in reality they're hitting you and suddenly you're just... kinda dead?

— We've progressed from Demon's Souls. Running 2-5 minutes each time you want to retry a boss is ancient game design and adds nothing to the game

— Certain encounter difficulty spikes scream indie title. The game can't bore you for 5 hours straight and then slamdunk a boss that requires you to play like a god for 10 mins.

— Regular enemies who auto-track you with their grabs (ala DkS2 Pursuer) and despite having full vitality build; still manage to get one shot by it? Bro.

— I don't think I've ever played a Soulslike that throws this many status ailments at you all the time. I get that it's supposed to be a thing in swamps, but literally forests, battlefields, snowy mountains, random dungeons, autumn map? All poison, blight, curse etc etc. Why?

— Way, way, WAY too many "prepare to die" ala "GOTCHA!" moments. Tiring.

— Dull, traditional Chinese music with no "ompfh" or any spectacle.

Positive
— Holy hell do stats really work in this game! Adding armor and resistances to your arsenal does a lot to your character

— Transmog right off the bat should be industry standard

— Game forcing me to respec for certain bosses is a cool idea, especially since respecing is free

I'm done with the game, yet another absolute awful clone of this god forsaken genre.

Yea I watched Lono play it and he said it's nonstop status effects... Like I don't mind fair tough difficulties but why just so much to the point of where the game is just there to aggravate the player.

The thing that is making me most likely decline is one of the moments in his play he went thru a tough area, killed the boss and then ran to the safety bonfire just for the bonfire to grab him and kill him hahaha they can fawk right off with that nonsense. Not a single skill can prepare someone for that.

Some of Yoshis points are alarming. Some I'm good with and I won't see as a negative.

Will be jumping in tonight in a hour or so and will post impressions later on.

For the record I think all souls games not made by FS suck except Lies of P. So I imagine I'll dislike this too lol.

Those are some insane problems like...frame gen turning off when a character talks? No support for any other upscaler except Nvidia...I wonder what is turned on that is so taxing at max settings?

Ok, where are the impressions? I'm stuck at work and can't download it on this sorry connection.

So nice to see a game not have the BS early access shit.

So you hate the genre ....why would anyone take your review seriously after that tidbit? "This god forsaken genre"

Played the Game Pass version for 5 minutes.

+ boob sweat
+ can take off her armor and play in her underwear

That's all I need to know.
10/10

But on a serious note, one thing that I love is that the game defaults to Motion Blur and Depth of Field OFF, as god intended

My CPU is too weak for this game. I read where performance on the Steam Deck looks like muddy 💩. I ain't doing that again. Low textures on the SD is awful. I'm going to order a copy on PS5
