I found a spell that gives auto-dodge.

I only realized after finding the 3rd or 4th blue shiny ✨ in game that the sentence it spews out is referring to an emote it wants you to do to get an item.

Oh…

One little detail I like about this game is that after swinging her sword a few times in a fight, if you stop, she is gasping for air. This is a nice touch of humanity in that she is skilled but not filled with infinite energy like someone like Doomslayer.

After switching the blades and skill, the commander was piss easy. Should have done that sooner instead of trying to defeat that cunt with dualblades up close.

Yo this game is...kinda legit isn't?

You people should play with the chinese VA, the first boss was great with that one.

I just reached the second boss with a cutscene (the big meatball).

With my vision and hearing issues, I am having a hard time getting the parry and block timing down (was easier in stellar blade due to time slowing down and color-based cues visual cues) so I am just trying to get good at dodging instead.

I really like the game so far, the combat is fluid and enjoyable, story feels interesting. But I can say that I am most surprised by the visual quality! I haven't seen such crystal clear details in a long time, my 5070ti is satisfied.

The game has several mechanics in play instead of block/deflect and they all work so it's fine to focus on just one; clash is pretty dope too and is a nice middle ground between dodge or block, dual blades excels at it. Though it doesn't work against unarmed attacks so you'd still have to look out for those.

Cool shots! So can you summarise the story and lore a bit, I am a little bit lost, especially on the boss characters and their background.

I played the first few hours in game pass. I:m not feeling the experience, it's incredibly sluggish even by souls-game standards. There's too long a windup for your special abilities it slowly becomes tedious.

Great, another boss with elevator runback. Game pissed me off today many many times. They went overboard with the "gotcha" moments

Game needs an encyclopedia so I can keep track of all these pop in and pop out npcs, so I can keep up to date on who is who and all that. Also, for side quest reminders. negative status effects are way too powerful on enemy damage, even when I have a proper set up. Never liked being two shotted by a regular enemy (and also by a boss, but at least that makes more sense to me)

She needs to get up fasterr when knocked down because it usually is game over.
An actual pause feature would be nice since this is not a game where you can be invaded. I thought I was safe once browsing my equipment loadout when all of sudden, I got ganked.

It would be nice if dropped souls were outside the boss room, not in it. Also, larger subtitles in general and slower text crawl in the level up tree.

Just go to teleport menu and you can see every NPC that you need to talk to. Their portrait pops up besides the shrines name

Dunno if other questlines are like this but when doing Matchstick's quest if you talk to him without already having the item he wants in your inventory he wanders off and dies causing you to miss out on his hat though (from what I'm reading) the overall questline he's part off will continue if you locate his "death" token.

Spoiler if you want to know the correct order to do this.
Matchstick's questline starts after doing the gang of kids quest in Cloudspire City. At end of this chain all 3 will be in the hideout and you will get the wedding dress from the "boss" kid. At this point Matchstick moves back to Cloudspire Outskirts and his icon will be on the teleport screen. DO NOT BOTHER LOOKING FOR OR TALKING TO HIM AT THIS POINT UNLESS YOU ALREADY HAVE THE VITALITY BOWL.

You get the Vitality Bowl from talking to a Granny in a wall. Yes, you read that correctly. The below screenshot is her location. If you don't recognize it you get to it by teleporting to the Snowy Passage and following the fork in the road to the right and down the hill. "She" is in a wall up that wooden landing on the left side. I'm not sure if you can talk to her on your first time through this area or you have to wait until Matchstick is looking for her/the bowl.

If you talk to him without the bowl she gives you he leaves and dies. I dunno if running back to granny without teleporting will spare Matchstick but teleporting 100% kills him. If you mess it up you can teleport to Mort Grotto and run back over the bridge to the area with the summoner enemy. One of the enemies down here will drop the token when you kill it. Nobody else responds to you having the token at this point. I haven't moved on past this point yet so dunno if that changes.

Dunno the name. Its the one under the palace, after the "witch"
I think it's fair to say they should've kept their checkpoints next to boss doors.

That's a feature that helps with player frustration.

The checkpoints are fine and the shortcuts too but not having one by a boss door is a kick in the nuts.

yeah i was so frustrated by the runbacks today. Slow ass shit elevators and ladder climbing... just annoying af

My holidays came to an end today. I won't be able to play as much as I want unfortunately...

Look at the bright side, my work vacations started today, 4 weeks of freedom 🕺

Btw, beaten the centipede, boss fights in this game reminds me of wukong, dodge heavy, very flashy moves, not brainless but not super hard either (at least for now), althoug i like lies of p sensibly more for a number of reasons, i vastly prefer dodge heavy bosses compared to parry heavy bosses.

I returned in the village area(?) and i can see a boss but i can't reach him, he look like a humanoid fire demon samurai, i can hear him talking, i need to find a way to him...

As people already said, level design is pretty neat.

But is it me or finding new weapons is pretty rare? i only have one weapon per type.

My contender of GOTY 2025, game delivers on all fronts, from graphics to story, combat, & game mechanics. I just love how aggressive and challenging are enemy's and bosses in this game also map design and clever hidden paths /interconnectivity are best from any souls game. Freedom to respec & experimenting with your build for free is best thing in this game. No more restarting your playthrough because you picked to upgrade wrong weapon or wrong talent's. Overall this is best souls game for me after Elden Ring in terms of exploration & combat is better then Elden Ring.

We had our Genichiro moment and now it's time for [REDACTED] moment... Oh boy, this is going to annoy me for a while lol

Edit: and why the fuck would you do two bosses in a row that require an elevator run-up 🤦🏻‍♂️

Enemies are a bit too aggro for me. Half the time you don't even get a chance to breathe or swing back before they're already in your face. And yeah, they all hit like trucks and chunk your HP like crazy.
Not a fan of how slow the main character is either - takes ages to get up after being knocked down (sometimes I'm getting hit again before I'm even on my feet), and drinking a health flask feels like it takes forever. :D

Also, what's up with every enemy having hyper armor? You can unload an entire combo on them and they just keep doing their moves like you're not even there.

What is the name of the little creatures that are this game version of the crystall izards? I can't hit these fuckers, they are too tiny :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I am around 30 hours in, this game is PHENOMENAL!

Level design, gameplay, visuals, lore, boss fights and exploration: everything is top notch.

My only complaints are the lack of iframes when you are knocked back on the floor, too many bullshit deaths and a few very minor things.

Once I am done with my playthrough with GP, I am gonna buy the game on PS5 with the dlc to support the devs.

And to the chinese players complaining: I have no idea how you can play the game and thinks this is a pro-Ming tale. Like wtf man.

What if i don't have magic reserve in that moment?

I thought about that but is the first spell with the 2 laser hits enough to kill them?
it only takes one hit.
And you can equip two weapons, just walk around with the one handed sword for free skyborn might

so this game fell off huh

Why do you want this game to fail so badly? Did the developers murder your family or something? I dont understand your personal vendetta against it man, just move on with your life lol
just sayin

The commander feels like a schoolbook example on how not to do a difficulty spike and makes me appreciate dark souls 2 lock on tracking. On my last attempt I defeated her, but also got killed by her last attack and the game took it as loss. I just don't think I like the game enough to keep phishing through this kinda bullshit

And worst case scénario the game will sell like 2-3 million, so in line with Lies of P which is considered a success.

Use parry and she is not that bad. It is indeed a difficulty spike tho, took me numerous tries. I advise you to continue: the best is yet to come.

I like the combat. And the freedom to try out new builds without it costing a limited item. Maybe they hate it because it isn't Fromsoft jank or Diablo 2.

No idea. Game is a 7 or 8 out of 10 experience. Exploration very enjoyable. Lots to find and sometimes you make a mistake fall into a building and find something new. Cool stuff.

Nioh 2 I still like the best overall.

My main draw I feel is the management of stamina which feels much better then how rigid and awful it is in Souls games and also managing the Skyborn Stacks for special moves or magic.

And I also like it seems all the bosses have a gimmick that you have to learn to fight each one and once you figure it out the fight becomes much more manageable.

Most of the complaints I see expect it to do something better then the latest Fromsoft entry which I feel is unrealistic since the game is heavily based on the Dark Souls 1 design philosophy.

If they are looking for a Elden Ring killer this game isn't going to do that at all.

Beat the 9th boss bride first try, didn't expect the second phase, but still these bosses can't deal with evasive maneuver at all.

Being able to freely respect whenever you want and for as many times as you'd like is something that should be in every single game that has anything remotely close to a build system.

I only used the axe so i don't know what the other weapons do, but that sound interesting...

Btw beaten the tree (super easy) and the umm...skull island lizard inside a chick boss and now i think i'm close to this general you people are talking about, let's see how hard is he.

I learned from getting drops of armor from enemy's that the have same stats like armor they drop. So they will have resistance to attacks you make or spells you use.
Because of that you have 2 weapons you can swap & different spells.

I use longsword deflect a ton. Unlocking it kinda transforms combat and was when it really clicked with me. There is plenty of mechanics that I still do t understand ("clash" wtf) but I never felt like I need to, Ive been steamrolling everything beating every boss max 3rd try and this feels like 10 times harder all of a sudden. I mean I did enjoy a lot about the game this far, may try again tomorrow.
