Go on and tell me what necessary ports you need.

Some editing control surfaces require an ethernet connection, some external storage requires firewire 800 and then you've got any thunderbolt drives or external monitors.

Having a nice little set up catered to the new macbook pro at home is great but you're not going to have that when you take your portable workstation on the road.
