On the flipside, I don't think Cena would try something like this because even though he's super important to WWE, WWE is super important to him. WWE can survive w/out Cena just like they survived w/out Hogan, I don't think Cena can survive w/out WWE especially since WWE has no true competition in North America anymore.

Warrior did bomb as champ, but that's in large part because they didn't build up any strong heel challengers for him. He was stuck in a retread feud with Rick Rude (who I love, don't get me wrong) while Hogan was getting to feud with the new hot monster heel in Earthquake.

There just weren't any memorable feuds for Warrior as champ and then he got beat by Sgt. Slaughter, who hadn't been hot since he last left the WWF four or five years ago and was cooled off considerably by being stuck in dying days AWA since then.

As best as I can tell, the only personality the WWE wants for its top face is generic faceless spokesperson... devoid of any and all personality who will serve as ringmaster for the WWE's circus.

Frankly, there's a reason why Cena is the only person who has been effective in that capacity for so many years.

They made the Reigns being their chosen guy blatant by late 2013 and cemented it by having him eliminate so many guys in the Royal Rumble in 2014 and IIRC people were already turning on him because of it though he got "saved" from some of it due to his injury.

It's astounding how Vince still thinks this shit works and that he can choose to force people to like who he wants when there's so many past examples of it failing.

I don't know how you guys can spend 3 hours watching Raw. There's a lot of filler between good matches.

Also, WWE barely even surprise anymore. I remember the days of surprise debuts and out of nowhere appearances at Raw and pay-per-views. It was exciting and I always looked forward to every Monday. Now it's all announced beforehand to get higher viewership, merchandise money.

I trimmed the last Raw down to about an hour with how much I skipped.



Still wishing that the Smackdown move would include Raw going back to two hours. Not that it would help the mess creative is but it'd at least spare us from at least an hour less of shit. I'd also say I hope that moving to USA would mean Smackdown will matter again but I don't have high expectations for that.

To be the WWE's top guy? Absolutely.

Guy was a great storyteller, but even his best friends openly admit he has a certain 'doesn't play well with others' mentality. Shit, even Punk admits he'd do things like exercise vocally right next to wrestlers (Miz/R-Truth) as they were trying to do pre-tapes; tore up scripts in front of the writers; tell people what he was going to be doing on TV.

He could back it up in the ring and on the mic, but ask yourself... if you ran a company like WWE, would you make a guy like that your number one employee? Knowing that if he didn't want to do some work he'd throw it away and make up his own?

How did he "earn" the Royal Rumble victory in universe wise?

Roman didn't even do much in the match itself, got worked over mainly by Big Show and Kane and had to be rescued by the Rock just to win. That's...not a good way to book a Royal Rumble winner. Hell, the match itself was pretty underwhelming.

Right now, Roman is in a better position so they can work the kinks out and make his main event run far more natural than to simply force it.

Stephanie basically said that her husband, HHH, was the greatest HHH champion of all time, the king of kings. She implied that even though Rick Flair has the most wins, HHH is still THEE greatest of them all. Punk basically laughed at that notion with the obvious, "oh gosh, what ever you say" impression. Heck, even HHH knows that is not true which is why he never EVER challenge anyone who disagrees with Stephanie. Never because he knows its not true.

A big heel turn is the best way to save Roman's push right now. Have him betray Dean and do something that aligns him with HHH or Seth, have him walk around in a suit and act pissed off that everyone shit on his parade when he won the Royal Rumble. It would clearly parallel what Rock did when he joined the Nation of Domination, but it would totally work for Roman. Why does this save his push, you ask? Because, assuming you build up to it right, the moment he turns face again he'll get a huge fucking pop for it and people will get behind him.

As someone who actually feels like Reigns has potential, this is why some of us shit all over the angle. It was clearly damaging to the Reigns brand. What ever happened to a proper build? Maybe winning an Intercontinental Title, or US Title before breaking onto the Heavyweight scene. The thought of Roman Reigns beating the Brock "God of Violent Retribution" Lesnar for the title in 2014 is beyond stupid. Whoever finally goes over Brock clean is going to need the most legendary build ever or it is going to look bad. Heels excluded obviously because they can just cheat.

Sorry, but as someone who thinks Roman Reigns has a ton of potential - Roman did not deserve that push and he was clearly not ready for it. He was flubbing promos. Creative couldn't write anything good for him. He had yet to put up a solid singles match since leaving The Shield. The crowd was also not fully behind him yet as a singles competitor. Roman was pushed a year too early and everyone who had I think everyone with a level head on their shoulders could have seen that easily.
