The Survivor Series is an annual professional wrestling pay-per-view event held in November by WWE. It is one of the "Big Four" events, along with WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and SummerSlam, as it is one of the original four pay-per-views produced by WWE.

Survivor Series is the 2nd longest running pay-per-view event in WWE history, behind WrestleMania. The first Survivor Series, held in 1987, came on the heels of the incredible success of WrestleMania III, as the then-WWF began to see the lucrative potential of the pay-per-view market. During a press conference held on February 11, 2010, WWE announced that it would drop the Survivor Series name and rebrand the event. However, in June 2010, the event was added back onto WWE's pay-per-view schedule.

The original focus of the Survivor Series was to feature elimination style tag team matches, typically 4v4 or 5v5. Teams featured face and heel captains who were generally engaged in an ongoing storyline with a well developed feud. The captains would choose additional superstars for their teams, and the remaining members of these teams were also engaged in feuds against each other, developed weeks and at times, months in advance . Teams were also given names by their captains, such as The Vipers, The Million $ Team, The Warriors, the King's Court, and The Rude Brood.

In recent years the WWE has inexplicably shied away from this format, and delivered a lackluster card with matches that will most likely end up being free the next day on Raw.

Current matches on the card

Randy Orton vs Big Show for the WWE Championship
The main feud heading into Survivor Series features
TRIPLE H
Randy Orton and Big Show over the former's WWE Championship. Ever since he returned from an injury in mid-August, Big Show has been speaking out against the on-screen regime of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and their mistreatment of several Superstars, especially Daniel Bryan, currently WWE Champion in the Total Diva's Universe, and future Wrestlemania midcarder.

John Cena vs Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship
The other main event features World Heavweight Champion John Cena, who hopes to overcome the most insurmountable odds as he puts his title on the line in a rematch with former World Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Banderas Del Rio

Daniel Bryan and CM Punk vs Luke Harper and Eric Rowan

Another major rivalry brewing in WWE pits CM Punk and Daniel Bryan against the Wyatt Family, an enigmatic backwoods cult composed of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, led by the faction's namesake, Bray Wyatt. "The Devil" has been revealed as the driving force behind Bray Wyatt and his 2 followers attacks on CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. The two former WWE Champions will now team up for a chance at vengeance against the Wyatts.

Survivor Series is scheduled for Sunday November 24th at 7:30 PM, available on PPV, WWE App, wwe.com, PSN and Xbox Live

I don't understand why there's only one Survivor Series match at Survivor Series. It will likely be the match of the night though.

Are you fuckin kidding me? They don't even do the Survivor Series match? Why don't they just call it "Generic PPV Event?"

At Survivor Series '97, Bret got screwed. At 2013 Survivor Series, the fans are getting screwed.

Big Show is in the main event with Orton
and HHH
while the two best guys on the roster are in a random tag match against a couple midcarders who haven't even been around six months

good job WWE

Jesus Christ what a terrible card. Only Punk/Bryan vs the Wyatts is worth watching, MAYBE the elimination match with Rhodes/Real Americans/Shield.

Ugh.

Big E isn't in a tag match is he? Because he's one of the two best.

It feels like its been many many years since survivor series was an actually interesting PPV, I'm thinking 2003 was the last one that I'd say was a well rounded fun event. Big Show vs Orton might just be the most boring sounding main event in years but to give Show some credit he's also surprised me a few times within the last year or two so maybe I shouldn't count out the match quality just yet, the feud itself is complete cack though.

Last year had The Shield debut right? well that was one good thing that the PPV has given me in the last decade at least, I wonder if kids these days could even understand the idea of this once being one of the big 4 ppvs of WWE.

WWE needs to give up on Del Boring

Yes, yes they do. His ability to put on decent ppv matches will work just as well down in the midcard where his boring character will fit in with everyone else's non existent character.

Wyatts vs Punk & Bryan is a waste because Wyatts have demonstrated they can't wrestle.

Luke Harper is a top tier talent and works great as the base for smaller guys like Bryan. Bray Wyatt is coming along, but his huge advantage is that he is a character who maintains his personality while wrestling. Erick Rowan is the other person on the team.

I'm just hoping Rowan stays injured on the side of the ring.

Wait...Cena is champion again?

That was quick. He is so good at overcoming insurmountable odds though!!!!!!!!

Cue the lifting Del Rio in the cross arm breaker spot.

Del Rio is a good hand. Blame executive meddling for his shortcomings.

And yeah, this is one of the weakest PPV cards I've seen in awhile from the WWE.
Will still bang a higher rating than those other recent PPVs because of John Cena as champ and no D.Brine in the main event... even against the likes of Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady.

And, if not, well... blame that guy with the beard who has been excluded from all recent DVD covers of said recent PPVs. I'm sure it's still his fault. Cena will need to overcome the odds of D.Brine's terrible ratings depression.

Can't be anyone else's fault. Nope. Not a chance.

I love the Wyatts. So refreshing seeing guys with a cool gimmick and look in the days of massive bodybuilders and generic athletic guys. The Wyatts ain't pretty and have some personality. They can fit right into the 80's and Attitude era imo.

I think part of that is just how terrible the rest of the characters are. When 99% of the roster is "random two names we can trademark with generic butt rock or rap for entrance music that is constantly remixed and changed for no reason" any unique character with an entrance theme that compliments the character looks Gangrel level by comparison.

Lol haven't been in wrasslegaf for a few weeks, figures everyone hates the card for SS.

On the other hand, I am pretty excited. I think the card looks good and the last 2 weeks of Raw I thought had some great matches featuring all of these superstars.

Am I excited for Show vs Orton? Maybe not, but I am excited to see Orton go against authority/the shield and go all lone wolf psychotic punter again.

And I still think Bryan is winning rumble, so I don't mind him leaving the champion scene atm.

I would honestly rather watch the Big Show than John Cena and Randy Borton any day of the week.

Too bad WWE never pushed guys like Morrison and failed with Ziggler. Those two guys could have almost been as over as Bryan or Punk but a level under.
