X-Men Apocalypse Review Thread

I liked FC and DOFP a lot.

Sucks to see another superhero trilogy end on a sour note. Cap and Iron Man are still the only exceptions I guess.

Is the petition to Disney? lol...

Damn. Singer finally made a mediocre xmen movie (let the quotes of disagreement commence lol)

Everyone has a bad day at the office... that's his first real miss with X-Men.

Don't let critics stop me from seeing movies anymore. I've enjoyed many movies with awful reviews and found movies with great reviews very boring.

The Iron Man movies kickstarted the MCU, but they are 3 movies of Marvel feeding fans with cynical junk to prepare them for the Cap movies.

Iron Man is New Coke

And of course, the Cap movies were just less cynical junk, buying Marvel time to reacquire its true greatest hero, Spider-Man

Cap is #1

Regardless of one's feelings for Iron Man 3, we can all agree that 2 was already a huge step down, and therefore the trilogy doesn't fit the general superhero trilogy pattern (where it's often part 1 is good, part 2 is great, and part 3 is bad in comparison to the first two).

Welp. Looks like the end for Singer here. He had a great run.

Well Iron Man 3 is hot garbage so that's incorrect.

Iron Man 3 was great. Thor 2 was hot garbage. DofP was great despite Kinberg.

Iron Man, TWS, and Civil War are my top three MCU films.

Sucks to hear about Apocalypse. Please please get rid of Kinberg.

I feel like the only person who didn't care for Days of Future Past sometimes. I thought it was just meh, and Quicksilver's scene was the only really good thing about it.

Shame about these reviews, but about what I expected.

Damn, was hoping it wasn't so even with some spotty footage in the trailers. I love Singer's previous work in the series and was really hoping he'd have another winner here.

Still going to see it, opening weekend if I can. I think if I keep expectations in check, I'll still have a fun old time.

YO IS IT IRON MAN 3 TIME

Opinion: IM3 is better than every X-Men movie except X2 and DofP.

The truth, and I say that thinking that The Last Stand and Origins were the only misfires in the series.

Batroc and Crossbones were manhandled way too easily.

Imagine if Disney and Marvel made DC movies...I shudder the treatment they'd give to Deathstroke. They would probably have Batman take him out with 1 punch or something.
Better than how DCAU treated Slade recently. He got one-shotted by Manta, rekt by little Damian, and eliminated offscreen by Young Justice team.

And don't get me started on Batman Arkham series :(

X-Men is still the MVP of comic book adaptations. Nothing has come close to capturing these goosebump moments.

That entire fight between them was choreographed so wellWAITAMINUTE...

Honestly the first X-Men movie was painful to watch, because it never felt like it set any kind of exciting pace throughout. I wanted to like it, but there's almost nothing from the movie that I can say was memorable.

I really liked FC and DoFP, and this is just... depressing.

Like, this can't really count as a trilogy right? I mean, they are connected and are three movies, but they do not really constitute as a single work or story when put together.

Singer can still try for a 4th after this, right?

Well, this is Singer's fourth.

To be clear, while I seem to be one of the few who didn't think it was a bad film, I've been arguing that I didn't want Singer coming back to this series since before he even did it. I didn't even want him to come back after DoFP.

So yeah, he should go. Especially considering the direction the series is heading. I'm not sure he's cut out for that shit.

Nah, get him outta there.

This makes me sad to read.

At least we still got X2 and DOFP.

Thanks for the memories Singer.

RIP

I kinda wish the next film was still set in the 80's so we could have the X-Men continue learning to work together instead of having them come back and already having aced it.
