Xb1/PS4 owners, are you happy with your purchase or regret it?

I don't play my ps4 like I thought I would. At least there's Strider coming and Thief. I'm admittedly not too excited about infamous. May buy down the road. The one game I do care about, Driveclub, is nowhere to be seen :(.
 
I'm very happy despite the small library of games.

The system is clearly decently powered, it runs quietly, it handles updates better than PS3, the controller is better, and PS Plus on the thing is great.

I still want Blu-ray playback, normal and 3D, but otherwise, this is a solid system and for me, the only viable option. I usually buy most every console and 360 was my main system last generation. I won't go near Xbox this round, and thanks to all that Sony is doing right with PS4, I have no reason to.

The best part is, future games are going to amaze.

You can set the PS4 controller to turn off after x amount of minutes in the settings. My turns off after 10 minutes before that the battery would drain quickly.

I sold my xbox as we going to go on holiday... Then didn't so I only have the ps4 now. I enjoyed resogun but I don't really like replaying games, prefer new experiences that feel more worthwhile. So after Assassins Creed 4 then driveclub being kindly delayed into oblivion I have found little reason to play the ps4. I should have just kept a ps3/360 till the backend of this year probably instead or stuck it out with the xbox one.

It is nicer to know that the ps4 will never have an inferior version of a game however, that was the only thing that nagged me about the xbox the whole paying more for less.
 
I've had mine since late Jan, but never opened it until about 3 days ago. Been playing Tomb Raider and a little Rezogun.

So far? I think I'm in love. The controller is awesome (DS3 feels cheap in comparison. Not looking forward to going back to it if DSII and FFXHD are DS4 incompatible.). The Ui is simple, fast, and easy to navigate. The three games I own on this system thus far are all 1080p/60 fps. The voice command stuff is kinda neat.

And the console its self is just sexy looking as fuck. Fits nicely in my electronic ecosystem too. barely needed to make any adjustments.

The only complaints I can think of right now are:

- Noise of PS4 is way louder than I expected it to be. My slim PS3 is as quiet as a mouse and I've had it for several years now.
- The lightbar on the controller is kind of distracting. You really should be able to turn it off. Sony really needs to stop being so stubborn on this issue and let us turn it off at our leisure.
- The light on the front of the PS4 is also distractingly bright. I don't know why that light stays on... what's up with that shit?
- Don't get to use the touch-pad very often, which is surprising because this was heavily marketed as a cool feature of the PS4. Shit doesn't even work when navigating the Internet browser. wat
- Wish it had more USB ports.
- Wish I could change my PSN name.
- Can't customize my background.

None of these things really bug me too much, especially when I realize pretty much all of these things can be fixed with updates. Whether or not Sony does something about it any time soon or ever is my main concern...
 
Glad I bought the ps4 because I'd end up buying it at some point anyway. Currently though it's a netflix machine until something good comes out or the mediocre release games I didn't get drop massively in price.
 
Glad I got an x1, pissed off it's so much more expensive than a ps4 for worse graphics.

love the games, voice control is fantastic.

Still 50/50 on whether i should have got a ps4, think i really would miss Kinect if i switched systems.

I have this turned on but I shouldn't have to wait 10 minutes while the controller glows in my dark room.
 
I bought a PS4 a few weeks ago. I didn't want to have to track down a console in case there are still supply constraints when Infamous releases. So far I am ambivalent.

I was pretty disappointed in the launch lineup. I thought that, especially with the game delays, both Sony and Microsoft just phoned it in at launch.

My PS+ subscription and the free games enticed me to buy sooner rather than later. Resogun is pretty fun and Contrast isn't that bad. Outlast isn't really my thing. I picked up Injustice for $35 on an Amazon sale and I paid the $10 to upgrade AC4, so I have enough games to fill my time.

I think I'll be happier when Infamous releases. That's the main game I've been waiting for. Then I get to rack up their exclusives as time goes on. Strider next week will help.
 
I haven't really liked any of the games I've played (Killzone: Shadow Fall, Contrast, Resogun, Don't Starve, or Outlast), but I'm excited for the games that are coming. Out of those listed about, Resogun would probably be my favorite.
 
PS4 and im super happy with it along with PS+... ACIV, TR, Killzone... all great.

Eventually ill get an XB1 but right now it has nothing i want yet... and has nothing im looking forward too (not titanfall, not QB,... maybe in a few years when better games come out for it... and some RPG/JRPGs pop up on it...
 
I regret getting the PS4 for now since I seldom use it, but I know this feeling will pass once I get to play Infamous SS.
 
Very happy with my PS4 purchase. Have played through ACIV, half of killzone, 3/4 of BF4 SP [ugh corrupted save], quite a bit of Ghosts SP, MP for all three of those mostly BF4 though which is pretty great when it works right, Contrast, and some of resogun.

Oh and all of knack. I thoroughly enjoyed knack :)

System is great but a bit barebones. Really needs an update. Quite annoyed by the lack of external media support which is dumb and I will hold against Sony until rectified.

Controller is pretty great but battery sucks big time. Light bar is annoying and we should absolutely have the ability to turn it off although I may get one of those decals that makes it look cool. Use the headphone jack a hell of a lot

PS live is addicting to watch.

I suppose I'm happy with what I've gotten out of the PS4 thus far so while I realize people want more games for it I also accept that it's been out for 3 months thus far so don't hold it against it to be honest
 
Couldn't be happier with the PS4. Killzone was fun, Resogun was great, Contrast was free, but surprisingly, the main reason I keep coming back to it is Battlefield 4. Easily my most played multiplayer FPS ever. The graphics are great, the battles are huge, game is smooth, everything is just fun!
 
I got a PS4 at launch and I just two weeks ago got Killzone. Finished it today. Have finished about 3 games of online play. Apart from that I've spent some hours with Don't Starve, Resogun, Flower and Warframe. I'm very happy. I haven't had as much time as I might have wanted and a lot of things are happening so my gaming time is consumed by other things. With how this generation is shaping up, and the PS4 in particular, I'm a strong believer it's the best one yet (like every other generation before it).
 
Xbox One, and happy with it.

The software selection is appealing to me. Everything works pretty seamlessly. The two biggest complaints I had (ability to check battery life and manage the HDD) are getting fixed in an update very soon. Towards the latter half of the previous generation, I was definitely more of a Sony fan. They just kept putting out more games, while MS just sort of sat back.

I'm hoping they continue on the path they've started this time.

Also, you can charge the ds4 using any microusb, so I charge one of my controllers on my mobile phone charger whilst I'm using the other.

Thanks for the tips. I only have one but i might try and find another charger for it. Good piece of hardware outside of that issue, I finally love a PS controller
 
Happy with my PS4, but ready for games to start coming out again, especially the indies promised.

Xbox One... I bought for exclusives, but then I realized how much Microsoft failed in that department towards the end of the generation, and I do not give two shits about Halo, Forza or Gears... Oh well, Titanfall is pretty fun.
 
Got my ps4 day one and have no regrets, I love the damn thing, I play FIFA every day, already finished shadow fall and the only thing I regret is buying battlefield 4, resogun is the shit! Playing trough flower again, lovely game, I will eventually get the xbox one, I'll say when halo 5 comes out, I love the gears of war franchise but I'm kinda burned on it atm, ryse is the game that once in while gives me that itch of getting the console, that game looks amazing, but then again not 500 amazing
 
I'm pretty happy with both, though could have waited. My PS4 is collecting dust but I know that will change when MLB: The Show 14 comes out. Really that is the only thing keeping me from selling it, but it is a big thing to me
 
Have a ps4. Really happy with it. Rented all the launch games and liked knack quite a bit. Kids liked it too. AC4 was good too and I was not impressed with Killzone.

Really love resogun and got the platinum. Online coop is fun for the really hard difficulties. Really liked what I've played of outlast. waiting for Tomb Raider and Knack to go down in price.

Hoping Infamous turns out good.
 
I'm loving my PS4, no regrets.

I hope new games come out soon that I'm going to want to purchase because I get kinda sad every time I go to Gamestop or BB or something that sells games and I'm like "These are the same ones!". It'll be a bit before things kinda get swinging since the PS3 is still getting a lot of Japanese releases and those constitute the majority of what I buy on a console.
 
I am happy with it, even though the wait for games to play has been tough. I hope Second Sun turns out to be a good game.
 
PS4 is awesome overall.

Light bar sucks.
Battery life on controllers suck.
Blu ray player software is dogshit buggy
WiFi is awful, but I run wired most of the time, so no big deal

Still, I like it more than my neighbors Xbone, which clearly needed way more time in the oven.
 
I regret purchasing both to be perfectly honest. Up until about a week ago, I had probably played about 2 hours total of either my PS4 or XB1 since the launch week of each console. I just don't play enough games to justify having an XB1, Playstation 4 and capable PC, and here I am with all three Lol. Things have gotten a bit better with the XB1 since I've started to play Madden, and now Titanfall with some friends... but still, I should have waited.
 
My ps4 purchase has come in a very bad period in my life (my mum doesn't have long to live), so it's basically been worth it for me, since I can tune out everything between hospital visits and work.
 
PS4 has thus far been a total waste of money because there aren't games I want to play... but it'll be my main console for the next 4 years at least. $100/yr, $8.40/mo for lots of entertainment potential breaks down pretty inexpensive for me.

Destiny will make it all better.
 
I bought a PS4 at launch (November 29) here and I'm very satisfied with it.

I absolutely love the design, games look gorgeous coming from a PS3 and the Operating System is so much better. The DualShock 4 controller is also absolutely amazing; the other day I went to play GTA V on a PS3 and I was just shocked by how bad the PS3 controller felt.

I'm also using it for Netflix - yeah - as well as some YouTube and VidZone here and there. Software wise, I think there's still a lot of room for improvement: Music Unlimited is not as instant as it should be (it takes way too long and way too many steps to start a song) and other features (such as local MP3 and DLNA) are still missing.
I hope they'll continue to add features.

When I'm looking at the games, I'm also quite satisfied. I got Killzone, NFS Rivals, BF4, FIFA 14 and AC4: Black Flag at/near launch and I'm still enjoying myself with those games (I haven't finished them all yet). I also put some time into Resogun and I had an absolute blast with Outlast. That said, I haven't finished all games yet: both NFS and AC4 are far from finished - not because I don't like them, but simply because I haven't had enough time to finish the singleplayer stories.

Games I might buy this year
I was looking forward to Thief, but after reading some of the previews I have decided to wait until the price drops a bit. Tomb Raider came out last month: I never played it, I'm not sure I'll like it, so I'll also wait until the price drops on that game.

I might get inFamous: Second Son next month but I'm still undecided. The only inFamous I played was the one you got for free a few years ago (after the PSN intrusion) and I didn't like that one.

I'm also undecided on The Order: 1886. I like the setting and time in the game, but I'll need to see some gameplay before I decide whether or not I'm going to buy this. That said, I'm glad to see a new IP.

Destiny, Watch_Dogs and The Crew are also games to follow - and I'm sure more holiday blockbusters will be announced and released this year.
 
My PS4 is collecting dust at the moment. I bought it late december. I played Killzone SF, Flower and Contrast. And Flower turned out to be the best next gen launch game. No other game interests me at the moment and i don't see this changing in the coming weeks or months. I had about 3 weeks of playtime with it before it went unused.

I am however pleased with the system itself. I like the UI and i haven't had any issues or crashes so far. Killzone SF showed promise for good looking games in the future. The system seems quite powerful and snappy.

In short, i'm waiting until interesting games arrive on my PS4. Until then, my PS3, Vita and pc keep me occupied. It wasn't an interesting launch lineup and i'm a bit dissapointed in Sony not being able to keep up the great momentum/vibe they managed to create in 2013. No regrets though.. I'm sure interesting games will come eventually (starting with Driveclub and The Witness).
 
The solid future of PS4 is assured, so I could never be ultimately disappointed. There was a time when I regretted having one in the short term, however, because Killzone was dull, and the type of game I would only play because it's next gen.

But I traded it in for ACIV, which is not an A+++ game for my particular tastes, but close enough. I've put many hours into it, it's shiny, and it makes me happy to run around in 1080p. I guess you could say it rescued the PS4 launch window for me.

I can''t wait for the first game that knocks it out of the park, though. Hopefully Infamous?
 
Its my $400 Netflix box. If the PS1/PS2 emulator comes, I'd be happy, otherwise, eh. I'll buy a game for it in about a year from now I guess.
 
I probably should have held off on the PS4 till Second Son comes out but the GAF launch hype got me and there I was outside Target launch day.
 
I'm pretty pleased with my Xbox One despite the fact that the OS sucks ass compared to the 360.

I have to eat some crow regarding the voice functionality with Kinect, I really enjoy using it(still don't like the motion aspect it of it though).

The most recent update helped a bit and I'm really looking forward to the update before Titanfall.

Still plan on getting a PS4 sometime in the Fall or so. If I had one now, I would rarely be using it.
 
Definitely glad I didn't go for an Xbox (personal preference on games and OS), but the PS4 has been an awesome addition.

I pre-ordered two PS4s for release and I'd have to ask, what is there to regret? It was clear that the library would be thin at release and for a while in '14 so I didn't expect to pay too much at first. I picked up assassin's creed and kill zone just to have something to test it out and if anything, I was fairly disappointed with those games, but like I said i didn't expect much.

However it did give me a new toy to play with in November and now I'm ready to go when the Witcher and dragon age, etc come out this year. I wouldn't have saved money or anything waiting 6 or 12 months so what difference does that make? There is a clear jump in potential and fidelity of the games, and if anyone without a good pc wants to continue playing games in a few years, they'll need to pick up a next gen system eventually too.

I don't get why someone would be regretful, not like you bought a car and it turned out being a lemon and you were stuck with it. The great games will come eventually.
 
We have both in our household, no regret per-se, but the PS3 is still king.

In order of play, excluding hand-helds: PS3-PS4-XB1-WiiU, but even that is misleading as the Xbone and WiiU have not been touched at all this year and the PS4 has only been on for Tomb Raider. PS4 has the best potential though.
 
No regrets whatsoever. Love my XB1. Killer Instinct is so much fun. Looking forward to Titanfall right around the corner and still haven't finished Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, or Battlefield 4. I'm also really looking forward to Below which should be coming soon. Still so many years worth of use the console will get.
