Is that yours or Phils?

Remember last gen when Amazon and Best Buy offered 20% discount to games if you subscribed to Prime or Gamer's Club Unlimited and how they eventually ended those programs?

Similar deal here. The money has to come from somewhere at the end of the day.

The good ole days are gone forever. No more deals for anybody. :messenger_downcast_sweat:

Letting your sub lapse and then doing a Gold/Core conversion is still the most cost effective way if you aren't using Rewards.

They're just going to keep increasing prices whenever they feel like it as AAA becomes more unsustainable. I'm going to stick with Gamefly when my GPU is up.

Just because there isn't enough confusion.......if Xbox Game Pass Standard will become available "in the coming months" and Xbox Game Pass for console will no longer be available starting tomorrow, it seems new console gamers who want access to Game Pass games will be forced to subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate. Why the hell is it going to take months for Standard to be available?

So stacking Gold/Core is what, $60 per year, that converts to 4 months of GPU, which equals $180 per year, only $60 cheaper than buying a year's worth of Ultimate... lol that's still too high. Hard pass.

These companies are using inflation as an excuse to jack up the price.

What can I say, MS never makes any sense. They are ready to shoot themselves down.

Just got raised to 75 per year. Then convert once to standard 15 or ultimate 20.

Ultimate through conversion is 2 years for 170 vs. 480.

Omg....

I don't even know where to begin.

It's only a matter of time before they completely sunset Game Pass for Console and eventually make those people choose between Core, "Standard", or Ultimate. They're not doing it immediately so as to avoid backlash, but it's inevitable.

Late Edit: They're also cracking down on stacking, at least for Game Pass Console people. Can't stack more than 13 months after this change.
Yup.

Maybe that means Activision back catalogue gets added tomorrow or very soon? They wouldn't be "new" games so possible they don't want the option for just old games in the first couple months?

This is probably a sharper decline than even the most militant Pony predicted.

Low quality and high prices from a failed model.

I think the base prices for Core and Plus are going to see a long term decline in overall home console market share.

Sounds needlessly confusing.

Very glad they're keeping the Ultimate tier though. A price increase was always inevitable so that doesn't bother me much.
Their lineup though 2025 looks like it will justify it. Can't really have said this until now. So much I want to play and Halo and Forza not mentioned once.

You are probably right. Microsoft can really overthink this shit, can't they?

Let your sub lapse. Buy a year of Core on Eneba (currently $39.98 but will probably go up). Buy a month of ultimate at $19.99. That should convert to 9 months of GPU @ $59.97. You can further reduce that buy stacking years (2YR Core + 1M GPU = 17M GPU, 3YR Core + 1M GPU = 25M).

Its not. Its garbage at this moment.
The value not worth it. 20$ is alot of money. Might as well get PC gamepass and transition to PC only.

It all depends on your needs.

As someone with a gaming PC as well as an Xbox series S for the wife and kid, game pass ultimate is still a great value.

This is the one part that I really care about ATM, because it's 100% confirmation that the next wave of Xbox devices will not be traditional consoles...

... Keeping Game Pass for new users "limited" to just PC Game Pass should more or less indicate exactly what direction they are taking the next hardware...
Yeah, I think you've nailed it. They're sunsetting Game Pass Console in favour of Game Pass PC and this is the first step: cut off the supply of new Game Pass Console users.

Oddly, that actually makes me excited to see their new Xbox hardware. My Steam Deck is close to my platform of choice; if their Xbox handheld packs a punch, can dock, and can run Game Pass PC, that's actually a solid value proposition for me.

Conversion rates are better when you aren't a current subscriber. So Core/Gold to GPU is a 3:2 ratio. Add a month to any conversion as you have to subscribe to GPU to initiate the conversion process. Conversely, if you are a current subscriber, a year of Core/Gold only increases your current sub by 4 months.

Well, congrats. You are part of the reason why MS changed GP pricing again for more casual customers.

No different than any other service in any other industry. People take advantage of deals.

So you're the reason that MS are going third party. 💀

As long as I get Xbox hardware, idc where else the games go

Imagine trying to viciously defend Microsoft and at the same time trying to weasel out of their product.

Couldn't be me.

Viciously defend :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Weasel out 😆

At ease, soldier

I think I'll just stick to $20 per month for a few months when my CoD obsessed friends want to play while it's hot. No need for me to stay subbed forever when I'd rather be playing sp games I bought outright.

You arent accounting to the code.
I bought couple codes, and did not stack. You need to be lucky with the code allowing to stack.
