Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

I load up Heavy Weapon from EA Access and immediately unlock 2 gamer pictures. I actually liked when games gave gamer pics and avatar items as well as achievements. That something I thought the "challenge" achievements would also provide but sadly that feature has largely been ignored by devs :(

I know there are a few games that unlock bonus art when you unlock certain achievements. Shovel Knight has achievements like that, and I believe DMC4: SE does as well. I'm not sure if any recent games have them, but that would certainly be nice.

Okay, after having played pretty much the most taxing tracks in the game which killed the Wii U's framerate (Sky Pirates track and all the ones with water like Panzer Dragoon), I can legit say I'm pretty impressed with the emulation!
Felt like a solid 30fps throughout and if there were drops, I didn't spot them at all.

At this point, I'd say XB1 is the definite version behind the PC

But to summarize all the versions:

1. PC - 60fps/high-resolution + added exclusive PC characters like Ryo
2. XB1 - Sub HD, most stable framerate with added Vsync
3. Xbox 360 - Sub HD, most sable framerate last gen on console but w/ tearing
4. Wii U - Lowest resolution of the bunch (game looks bad on a big screen TV), fairly stable framerate except with certain, CPU intensive tracks. Off-Screen play and ability to play on different screens
5. PS3 - Actually 720p but with lowest average framerate and a fair amount of screen tearing

I did get a kick out the fact that the Wii U version I own DOES load faster than the XB1 version due to running of a 128gb flash stick.
Thanks for that, really appreciate it. I'm still kicking myself for playing on the PS3, it felt like the game was underwater.

Both this and Sonic Generations are probably a lot better on PC but its nice to see the XBOX ONE providing us another means.

Argh, all I want is Mark of the Ninja, Far Cry 3, and Assassin's Creed 3 added to the BC list.

FC3 is particularly maddening since Blood Dragon is already there. It's the same engine (right?)!

Played around with Halo Reach on XB1 last night. Performance definitely feels better, less jutter.

However, I did notice an issue with the foliage. It seems that at certain angles the 2D foliage will 'flicker' when the camera moves. I believe that this is due to the temporal-AA solution that Bungie implemented in Reach and it's not behaving nicely with 2D 'objects'. Noticed a similar issue with the equipment hologram icons as well so it might be related.

MS I still love you for letting me have this

Playing Gears 3 right now as I wait for Gears 4 to launch. (Off physical copy).

First time playing a BC game on my XBO S. Seems to run very smoothly, I dunno if that's because of the S or because of updates since last I played in on my One..

Any comparisons between Reach with the new update on an S vs a D1E?

So when Major Nelson posted the sales yesterday, Black Ops II was originally listed as "Back Compat", since that is what it said for me via my Feedly reader for that article. Seems like this was changed shortly after the post went live. Hoping that they were planning to make it BC yesterday, but had to delay by a bit?

Hmmm..

BC games usually go live on Tuesday and Thursday. So we should hear about it in ~3 hours if it's live today.

I'm rather surprised by the lack of capcom content in the BC list.

Guarantee a large reason we haven't seen stuff like Lost Planet 1-3 or Dragons Dogma is because Capcom fully intends on giving all their 7th Gen titles the Resident Evil 5 & 6 treatment, and porting the PC version over to current Gen consoles and releasing it as a remaster.

It's easy money.

Still, hopefully we see a change of heart soon, cause stuff like Remember Me for example, I can't see getting a remaster.

Yo man, I'm not a massive fan of Black Ops 2, but if it went back compat today I would insta-buy even though I shouldn't with Gears and Mafia and Infinite Warfare/Modern Warfare being WAYYYYY too many games to play.
