Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Looks like there's a 706MB update for Mass Effect. Going to download it now and see if there has been any major changes.

Edit: A small thing I'm glad they changed: the start-up image is now a widescreen version of the cover art instead of a picture of Shepard taking cover.
 
ok so Dirt 3 runs perfectly and loads faster between events. Very happy with it.

Gears 3 on the other hand runs shocking - borderline unplayable in parts.
 
Man, I freaking missed playing shadow Complex.

It's been a very long time since last I played it, but did it always run so smoothly, or is that the power of the cloud at work?

Yea gears 3 runs terrible. I was so sad to see how bad it ran; I was so stoked for it.
Maybe they will improve the performance like they have in other games.

Unless they updated it you will still get rather large frame drops in some areas, the original game had them too but not to the emulated degree.

Currently running the mass effect update, going to see what I can notice.

Go to "My Games and Apps". Any digital games you have available will be listed to the far right under ready to install.
 
Just bought condemned and crackdown 1 and 2 (preparation buys) can't wait to get home and run through condemned again with the wife such a good game hoping the second one gets the bc treatment as well

Also for those who have sonic 1 and 2 how do they run?

They updated it while in preview. Runs great now.
 
I've got FO3 playing fine as I purchased it digitally. I installed the GOTY dlc disk that I have and all the main dlc packs installed. But when I load up a game, it says that stuff is missing so some items won't appear. Is there an easy way to check and see if the dlc is actually loaded and available? I went into my quest log and I only have one quest pending and it's not for any of the dlc that I can tell.

If I recall correctly, when you load into Gears 3, it will see if you own any DLC and will prompt you to download it if it's not installed. That should work, but unfortunately you get to deal with the 360's shitty way of handling DLC while in-game where it only lets you do one at a time, and you can't queue downloads up.

There may be another way though that I'm not aware of.

Did you take out the disc? You have to leave it in for the DLC to work if you didn't purchase it digitally.
 
It blows you can't use your MS Wallet to buy 360 games on their webpage. You have to use a 360 to use them and I no longer own a 360.
 
Sucks that Gears 3 isn't as good as it is on 360; that was the title I was most excited about for this first run of games. Doesn't leave me hopeful for the eventual Halo Reach release either...


How do saves with this work? I know I'll have to go on the 360 and copy my save to the Cloud, but are they then shared between platforms? I have an endless mode Bejeweled 2 save I'm looking forward to continuing on in the Next Gen™

Yes. Cloud saves are synced between all your 360 systems. That includes the virtual 360 that runs on the XBO.

Also hoping for condemned bloodshot, but it never got a digital release, so that might be a factor.

Anyone try Gears of War Judgement yet?
 
This is why I kept last gen. I don't want to use a modern console for running backwards compatibility on older games, especially when it needs to load into a different menu (at least that's what it seemed with Rare Replay).

I don't like it, or feel it's good for the system.

To each their own, though.
 
Borderlands at 30fps is really making me dizzy. It's strange because I played tons of shooters at tha before but lately I've been only playing 60fps or games close to that. It's really jarring

Thanks. Yeah I put it back in but it seems like you have to launch the game with it in first so that apparently was the issue. Had the game running but a different disc in, swapped it and still didn't work. Pretty much just me being an idiot, lol.

That "different menu" is the Xbox 360 system OS.

This is funny because this is what I reported in july via the feedback program, happy they changed that because the shepard taking cover was an horrible pic.

Yeah I just played a game of overrun. It suffers the same problems that gears 3 suffers from. Slight input lag and at moments considerable frame rate drops. With that said, it is playable, but don't be surprised if at moments these factors slow down your ability to react to fast moving objects like tickets.
 
Performance definitely seems better in Mass Effect. Just played through the part in Noveria where you have to go outside to repair the reactor and fight a bunch of Rachni. Here's a clip I recorded. For reference, here's Digital Foundry's analysis of that part on the last gen version of the game (starts at 2:18).

I was thinking of adding $20 to my account and buying Stick of truth on Xbox.com. So that wouldn't work? Currently I get Xbox currency off Amazon and add it to my account and have bought XB1 games with no issue. Any else have any information on this?
 
OK so I just got home and popped condemned in and nothing happens then about ten minutes go's by I get a message that says eject the disc try again make sure you're using an Xbox one game a music cd or movie on blue ray (0x80820002)

Is my disc fucked or what? Should it auto start downloading it?

The disc is in really great shape BTW

I ran through a couple of months back when it first appeared on the PP.
I never played it on 360, but it's totally playable. There were some times where it goes a little choppy but it was never too much of a problem.
 
Gears 3 is a lot smoother in multiplayer compared to the campaign, lighting doesn't seem downgraded either

also playing wired seems to eliminate input delay at least on my end

Tried Assassin's creed 2 and WOW first impressions are very positive and performance is solid so far, playing this again is gonna be a blast

Sucks about SMB, why is that?! I like the original music much better than the new PS4 release but no way I'm doing everything from scratch again :/
 
Playing some Banjo Nuts & Bolts from Rare Replay, had to update it. Framerate in Showdown Town seems way better now compared to how it was before. There's a fair bit of stutter however, especially when moving the camera around. It's definitely much more playable now though so I'm content. Unless I'm just experiencing placebo and nothing actually changed. lol
 
Ikaruga wants me to buy it again despite being signed in on the website (and of course despite me already owning it on 360)
