Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

I just realized how meta this title is and it really should be the title on the OT that was not the OT. lol

"Everyone wants it, no one uses it"

Describes the BC OT completely. ;)

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I just found an old XBLA Compilation disc that has Unto, Boom Boom Rocket, Luxor 2, Feeding Frenzy and Pacman CE on it. Can confirm that Feeding Frenzy and Pacman both work off the disc

The audio in Wonder Boy in Monster Land was pretty average, I don't remember it being like that on the 360. Didn't try either of the other games in the Monster World Collection.

Holy shit man. I decided to fire up Gears 3 and i am shocked by how damn good this still looks. This looks crisp and just great overall. This....is 720p?

I lied...I thought Lumines would be what occupied my time but...turns out couch competitive in Clash of Heroes between my son and me has been fantastic. Without any prompting my son said, "wow, we now have so many more family games we can play co-op".

EDIT: So...this is still the "real" thread, right?

Since when did the page limit of OTs stop at 14 rather than the usual 200? Or are we just rolling multiple OTs for funzies? Why stop at 2?

IMO it should be, Banjo done most of the hard work and should be rewarded for it by having OT rights imo. I'm pretty sure this topic had |OT| in the title too but was removed for some reason.

It's whatever though.. I'm subbed to like 20 BC topics and just post in whichever is getting posts.

Try playing while Broadcasting Lumines. Filthy becomes "horrendous."
I was sad... because I do love me some Lumines and I wanted to share that love.
I always played with the stick on 360. Though even the dpad was alright there. I can easily switch from Live to Electronic Symphony I guess I'm weird.

I played Toy Soldiers Cold War for like two hours. Fun game.

I also tried Dirt 3 and it runs GREAT. Gears Judgement on the other hand....

Lumines feels not good. Pac Man feels badass. Mirror's Edge has a couple of spots where framerate dipped, I can't tell if it's the Xbone running it or if I'm just sugarcoating my memory.

Also, I got Mirror's Edge and Condemned to work via disk.

100%, no way in hell would they leave a game like Gears in a bad state.

That first game ran piss poor on 360 when it released.

This is where I am at right now too lol. I hope DF does a comparison, so we can actually see how good it is.

My issue is input lag. I have the feeling the input is not 1:1 like it should be.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, DIRT 3, and Rainbow Six: Vegas all run great for me.

The only one that is still out there for me is Gears 3, I don't know how it runs yet because I just started to download it but I will report what happens when it's done. People have said it doesn't run that well though so we will see.

I don't have a credit card

is there some sort of trick to get games to d/l on the website for games with gold? i already missed a full year cause of this issue.

Also, I tried to find the price for condemned but it wasn't there as well.

Someone said you can add paypal if you have that.

Haven't tried Gears 3 yet but the second game feels like it has the some kind of input delay as well. Framerate also took a pretty big hit when entering combat.

Question on size of emulator and requirements needed on the internal storage. Last night I queued up games and one was Hexic HD. I installed it to my external but to launch it it said I needed at least 4 GB on my internal so I cleared off some games I will just install to my external.

Is this needed for every game or is it a one time thing for the emulator?

The emulator unfortunately comes with every download. I think it's around 500mb.

You need to have Xbox Live gold, have you got that?

Cloud storage just shows up like a USB or Memory card does

I figured that was the problem. I don't have Gold currently as my brother has it and on Xbone only one account on the console needs Gold to play online.

BC doesn't improve 360 games in any way, right? No better performance or visuals?

It's going to vary from title to title, but texture pop-in and load times are reduced...dramatcally so in some cases. Upscaling to 1080p, which happens with most X360 titles, seems to be higher quality, too. V-sync seems forced in every title that didn't feature it original hardware, though it could cause lower than original framerate in early versions preview BC titles. There are still little glitches with audio playback in some titles and some graphical ones as well. Mostly, this early round of X360 BC quality is a rather incredible feat that produces mostly perfect-seeming emulation for the majority of titles I've spent time with. I've got more than half of the first wave installed and plan on trying out a few more that key off the discs, so I'll see if I can't write up a set of impressions. Given a short amount of play time with two dozen so far, this is off to a pretty great start.

I played Dirt 3 for an hour or so tonight. I have a lot of experience with this game on PC but not on the 360.

It ran well 99.9% of the time, but that .1% was kind of a deal-breaker for a racing game.

Well, to anyone else thinking of bringing their Bejeweled 2 save over to the Cloud for this, DO NOT DO THAT.

Just lost 6+ year old save and all my Endless progress that way. The 360 didn't let me copy it to the Cloud, so I straight up moved it. When I went onto the One to load up and try it out, I chose Endless and cloud storage, and the game acted like I'd never played it before. Showed the tutorial on everything. Went back to try it on the 360 and it said "sorry this game doesn't support Cloud storage."

Thanks Microsoft, this update is off to a great start

I just played an hour of Gears Judgement campaign and it was smooth. Either it's multiplayer that is giving people frame rate issues, or I'm still too early on in the campaign. Loving this so far (especially for free).

Slightly related to this, I'm wondering how some games which force you to select a storage device work with cloud saves. I used a one month gold sub to migrate save files over to XOne. As an example, when playing Monkey Island, the game forcibly asks you to choose the storage device when loading a file; since I have a one month gold sub, I can choose (and only choose) the cloud storage; what will happen when the gold sub expires? I no longer have access to my save files? It's like the game won't locally copy the save file from the cloud...

Did you move it back to your 360 and try it or just try to load it from the cloud?

Some games are showing up that I never bought digitally. Assassin's Creed II, Might & Magic Clash of Heroes and TC Rainbow Six Vegas. Were those games GwG and I forgot about them?

Got a few games to download:
