Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Also, I'm fairly certain the reason Borderlands DLC is free is because at the time it went up they hadn't yet finished support for installing and managing DLC, so they had to package it in at launch to prevent transferred save files from corrupting.

Correct. DLC support wasn't there yet.

The existing Red Dead package, that they accidentally posted, does not include DLC. If you own the DLC you can install it though.

Definitely getting Hydro Thunder. I always loved that game, but I haven't played it since DC days. How is the 360 version?

Any chance it might harness the X1's power to make Blighttown not a complete nightmare of an area?

Highly doubtful it will improve much, if at all. Depends on whether the problem in Blighttown was GPU or CPU in nature. If it was CPU limited, then prepare for it to run the same or worse.

Regarding Alan Wake's black crush issues:

https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/4bdrqw/psa_old_response_to_crushed_blacks_and_fix/

Basically, you should always use the TV (RGB Limited) Color Space display setting on Xbox One. All video content (TV shows, Movies, Blu-ray, DVD, etc.) is authored for (RGB Limited). You’ll actually lose visual dynamic range if you select Color Space = PC (RGB Full).
The "RGB Limited" setting could be named more accurately.'
Note they have now changed the name to RGB Standard and PC RGB. If you use RGB Standard then 99% of your "crushed black" problems will be gone, including playing Alan Wake.
Alan wake running on a 360:

Again PC RGB is the wrong setting to use if you have a TV. I have confirmed this myself by using this site on the edge browser on the Xbox One: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php

Um, the BC version looks worse in those shots. Tons of detail got killed in the shadows under the truck, and on the side of the cabin. Note how the roll bars in the truck bed are no longer distinct. If that's happening in the dark forest areas I could see the game being majorly gimped.

The shots are blurred, but looks like the BC doesn't look as over-saturated as the 360.

it's not perfect in those shots (off a camera phone, with different focus) but it MUCH improved in person. Almost the same.

Trust me, I'm AW's biggest cheerleader and I was wary of deleting my copy from my 360, but after I changed the settings it was totally fine. All X1 now.

Is there a better way to buy the Fallout 3 DLC digitally than XBL?

I was hoping it would go on sale, but two times Fallout 3 has been on sale, the DLC hasn't, and I'd rather not pay $25 for all of it.

For whatever reason, when I try to run a BC game my console gets stuck on "Getting your Xbox 360 info..." Grey screen.

Anybody had this happening?

Started after I've downloaded Alan Wakes dlc.

If I sign out or remove my profile the BC games load perfectly. Signed in they don't.

Heeeeeeelp.

Xbox Support doesn't really know what to do (on twitter).

If you got a Xbox 360 console try recovering it there then trying the Xbox One again - barring that I'm not sure really.

Went on account.xbox.com and removed all associations of 360's and even the one since it had done it for BC. Cleared cache, rebooted console and... A whole lot of nothing.
Disappointed :(

Wondering the same. It's got a unique enough look that I've always been interested in it.
I was interested in the game since I read this article http://xanderkishblog.blogspot.pe/2013/08/kane-and-lynch-2-anti-shooter-before.html?m=1.
Bought it yesterday, I'm aware it's a short game but impressions of those who enjoyed it say that it has a consistent presentation and tries to be an aesthetically awful game, as such trying to be a displeasant shooter. As someone who enjoyed spec ops, I'm interested to play this game.

SOOOOOOOOON! Still waiting for that Hexic RDR icon to disappear and get to playing Marston on that XBO controller!

Torchlight Save Issue

Hi all - Been having some trouble with Torchlight recently. Know that I've uninstalled the game and re-installed it about half a dozen times as well as hard reset my Xbox One a few times but nothing seems to be solving the issue.

Started playing Torchlight on Xbox One recently. After the game boots I am automatically signed in but as soon as I get to the main menu of the game I get a message stating I have lost internet connection and will have to game offline. Now this normally wouldn't be an issue except that it also signs me out of my profile. I thought nothing of this and began a new game and saved everything to the cloud (even though the cloud clearly stated I was offline). A few days later I booted my Xbox 360 and Torchlight and picked up where I had left off via the cloud save. No problem or issue. Going back to Xbox One results in the same offline and profile sign-out but whatever. The save is still in the cloud and all is fine.

So this morning I boot my Xbox 360 and Torchlight and my cloud save but my save isn't where I left off from the Xbox One version. It is from the last time I booted my Xbox 360 which was over a week ago.

Now, I really would rather not lose my save data. Why I could sync my cloud data previously and not now is a mystery since nothing has changed since the first time I did this but is there any way whatsoever to get my save data off my Xbox One and onto my Xbox 360? I'm afraid that if I can get cloud saving once again re-synced between the two systems for the game my "offline" save on Xbox One will be overwritten by my "online" save on Xbox 360.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone get games added to their install list that they are pretty sure they never bought digitally? It has happened for a few games to me

I think I remember hearing about this before. Are you actually able to launch the games though? I don't think you can if you haven't bought them, even if they're in your install list

Why would it not? The DLC is on a separate disc. It never needs to be inserted again.

You have to own the license for it. Otherwise you could just rent them shits from Gamefly like I did with Elder Scrolls IV's Shivering Isles and never pay for it!
