Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

It would save time if Microsoft just release a 360 emulator that you can download to the xbone/Scorpio. Then run the games off the DVD's.

It is a bit of a chore downloading each game again, even though you have a DVD copy ready to go.

So, is there a way to get in contact with MS about a title becoming BC other than that Xbox Voice website? XSeed suggested getting in contact with MS to talk about Deadly Premonition becoming BC

(Sadly the EU publisher said that there isnt currently interest in making it BC, Is it possible for just one region becoming backwards compatible?)

I meant to make a post about this last week, but totally got sidetracked by life: Why in Goodness' name did Sega OK the Sonic 4 Episode I & II emulations? I know the answer is the anniversary event, but the sound in *both* games is just unacceptable:

If you mean the mega drive emulators, they were always bad AFAIK, I had the PS3 release and it had insane input lag issues

The 360 XBLA releases were alright, I finished them all again that way. There may have been some lag present though, plus the HDTV lag, but this emulation of the emulation seems to add even more.

It's a shame most of the games I have left to finish on my 360 are jrpgs but they're not on the lost, lost Odyssey, star ocean 4, tales of vesperia, el shaddai, final fantasy 13-2. As well as crackdown, halo 4, dead or alive 4, and gears 3.

I'd love to replace my 360 with an xbone s but none of these games barring gears 3 are bc so it's really not going to happen. I mean halo 4 I can get the MCC, and FFX13-2 I'd probably rebuy on PC anyways, but the rest? I don't see myself getting through them anytime soon.

So, no new games this week? I wish publishers fully jumped on board but between remasters and licensing issues I'm starting to think they wont. Such a shame

NXGamer confirms a small boost for Halo Reach on X1S, tho frame-pacing and input lag issues persist:

Come MS - I wanna retire my 360. HD remaster please!

C'mon Microsoft, just remaster Reach already.

After Halo Wars gets its remaster later this year, Reach will be one of exactly two Halo games not natively playable on Xbox One (the other being Spartan Strike, the only Halo not on any Xbox console period). Feels bad man. I just want my favorite Halo campaign in 1080p/60fps. :(

Just wait until September 2020 for the anniversary edition :P

Doesn't make much sense to remaster it now when there's Halo 3 Anniversary next year, and 2020 is just around the corner.

Assuming they still do Anniversaries that is, which I think they will.

Skate 3 better just be waiting for a Skate 4 reveal and release.

I don't think so, I don't even think they actually hold off for preorder bonuses. Sure they might announce the preorder bonus before the game is available like with FO4 but I think that's more coincidental than anything, and the game just wasn't ready, but they knew it'd be ready sometime before launch.

But the reason I don't think they're waiting for preorder bonuses is EA has EA access, I'm sure they'd love to pad it up with 360 games during the empty months.

I'm not really sure it's worth doing an Anniversary release for Halo 3. Everything holds up well enough outside of human character models. I don't know how they'd do it either. A new stand-alone Halo 3 in addition to MCC? MCC DLC? The prior would be really weird, and the latter seems unlikely since MCC is basically dead.

And I really don't think Reach needs it either. Just 1080p/60fps. It's literally the only Halo that cannot be played in HD at all (technically it's juuuust shy of true 720p) and the only one that can't be played at 60fps (it's not even locked at 30). Even Spartan Strike at least does both on PC.

I agree, don't waste resources on Halo 3 anni or a Reach remaster. Focus on new Halo titles, we have MCC already.

Why not both?

Besides Halo 3 and Reach really would not take a huge amount to remaster since they have a good foundation to start on.

Again though, I'm not really sure it's worth it. Halo 3 still looks great outside of human character models, and Reach in general still looks great. And again, in the case of Halo 3, how are they going to do it? A second version of Halo 3 on Xbox One or MCC DLC?

This plz I want Reach at 1080p 60 fps even Halo Wars will have it's own remaster on X1...Yes I also do want H3 anniversary with blur cutcutscen, H3A mp (like H2a) and new cutscenes with Cortana to do the link with H6. Add ODST Anniversary with blur cutscenes too and h6 beta.

Would great to have a full remastered h3 mp like h2a with some tweaks here and here. This could be the best Halo MP ever.

I admit the logistics could be a problem but a second collection with redone Halo 3, ODST and Reach could work.

Besides while those games still look good, I feel that the engines on those games are more than capable of updating the visuals now that they have so much more power to work with. AFAIK Gears UE was done on the version of the engine it was released on.

ODST is already remastered tho, I think they'll remaster 3 and Reach then stop with the anniversary editions since everything will be on XB1 (and future consoles) at 60fps and good graphics. I know 3 is in MCC but it's Halo 3, anniversary edition will sell well I think and it could showcase Scorpio fully. Halo 4 is the one I have to imagine they avoid doing an anniversary of so I think it'll stop before that.

If/when they do Halo 3 Anniversary, idk if they will do a collection with Reach and 3 or whatever, but if they do I'm sure it'll be two separate games like borderlands the handsome collection, not like MCC... They learned their lesson.. I think :P. Gonna be interesting next E3 anyways since it could really go either way with MCC and BC.

Found out that Mafia 2 along with the dlc was delisted from everything, so that will probably never come to BC. Went ahead and played it on 360, great game. Would play again if it ever does

Mafia 2 + DLC actually reappeared on Steam recently. Has yet to return to XBL (or PSN) though. I remember a similar thing happened with BioShock 2 and its DLC. Hopefully Take-Two can figure it out.

I'm trying to put some 360 discs into my new S console and it stops the installation immediately. I try to do it again and it flashes 0% for a millisecond then says "installation stopped". Anyone know why that might be? I tried 4 different games with no luck.

Are you online? Xbox 360 games don't actually install from the disc, but are downloaded from Xbox Live.

I think Halo 3 could benefit a bit from a remaster but my one request would be if they could somehow convince Michael Wincott to reprise his role as Prophet of Truth and re-record Terrance Stamp's dialogue for consistency reasons.

I can't disagree. It just needs to be properly upscaled to 720p and 60FPS at the very least. If they decided to port over the multiplayer then I would hope they could tweak some of the balance again with weapons and equipment.
