Xbox One Launching 9/4 in Japan

and qute. and yeah "gref" is G.Rev.

So if I'm understanding this right, Famitsu is listing most of the Xbox 360 STG dream team as Xbox One developers.

I mean anything is better than nothing. As long as the marketing budget isn't super high I don't see why not launch in japan

Microsoft looking to break sales records with this one. You thought a console couldn't sell less than the 360 in Japan? They will break their record with this.

Seriously though, most Japanese exclusives they moneyhat will probably be stuff Japanese people won't care about, but westerners might.

Well i don't even know old Xbox sold more than 360

You guys realize japenese publishers want this, right?

They want their dev teams to be very familiar with the architecture, so they do not get left too far behind in western markets. The more prevalent the support system is for the Japanese market - the more MS puts boots on the ground there - the easier it is for their devs to get feedback and development resources. If they are launching in the regional market, then MS allocates budget to the region, than pubs can co-lab with MS for marketing support, dev support, co-publishing, etc. It's a big business, and being in that region has as much B2B implications as it does B2C.

To echo someone above, there is always a market.
You just need to know how to find it.

Why anyone wouldn't want this is kind of baffling to me, especially if they want more Japanese support in the West.
Where do you think games like Lost Odyssey, Dead Rising 3, etc, come from?

With console gaming being sort of dead in Japan it truly is the best time to release the successor to the megaton-Japan-success story that was the Xbox 360.

Hmm SquareSoft. Could it be possible MS got over themselves and added the possibility of FFXIV to go along with FFXV? More wishful thinking on my part, I know...

Add in that every box theoretically can be a dev kit soon as well...

The fact they they'll sell x number of units isn't in question. The cost to bring the console to a new market is. They will sink tens of millions of dollars on marketing, logistics etc, which might only net then thousands of consoles sold. This has been the case in some European countries.

As others have said, it's more to keep Japanese publishers and devs on side, than selling successful product to a specific market. I'd imagine that Japan would be a huge loss to MS, as the sales wouldn't make up for the other costs. But I very much doubt that is their goal.

It's going to be a depressing generation if all of them choose the Xbone over the PS4 just because that's where everyone went last gen. :-/
