Is the Star Wars Battlefront II single player worth anything?
I have played only the first part. It's pretty and worth one playthrough, but it feels a bit Forced. The multiplayer is much better, but haven't tried it in ages.

Squadrons is also in sale, so I might try that.

Edit: Removed those needless trailing periods. Makes me look like a certain user.

Squadrons is super fun, also receiving a series x optimization patch with a 4k120 option or better lighting. Devs are also have two big updates coming in Nov and Dec adding new ships, balance patches, a new map for mp, and a custom game browser.

Is it worth the 10 bucks, just for the SP? I have no interest in the MP part.

No worries about the periods though - you need to ramble on and on for hours about the superiority of anything made by Sony.

It's not much, so maybe. If you have the Game Pass, it should be available through the EA Play, though?

Well, I would't pay more than that. It is a very pretty game, but they obviously didn't spent too much time working on the story and characters. It basically a bonus feature to the main game (MP). That said, it is slightly more engaging than most of DICE single player stuff. Gameplaywise it is typical DICE stuff (it's fine) and if I remember correctly it is not a very long game.

Unless you are super into star wars, no.

So, I loaded up a few more game to test the console.

AC: Valhalla looks wonderful. Some nice subtle graphical upgrades from Origins and Odyssey, but 60 fps is the dealbreaker. I have C7 so I should see tearing, but so far I have only seen it in cutscenes and during one of scripted the walking scenes. I hope they fix it, but it definitely doesn't ruin the experience in the slightest. Haven't encountered it when I'm travelling or fighting.

Forza Horizon 4. It definitely feels smoother but the jump from 30 to 60 is not as noticeable as I expected, Probably because the motion blur they used in the 30 fps was some of the best I have ever seen in a game.

We Happy Few. I liked the game when it came out, but it felt really choppy and the controls felt clumsy because of that. I hope DF or somebody else will do a framerate test, because I couldn't really figure out what framerate it is running at, but it feels a whole lot smoother/better than before.

My daughter loves to play Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (360) and Auto-HDR is kind of terrible on it. Maybe I have already been spoiled by the smoothness of 60fps, but it felt like it was running worse than it did on X1X.

The recent multiplat comparisons kind of have me regretting my purchase. I know it's stupid because it's not like there's a massive difference between the PS5 and Series X versions of these games, but I can't help but feel I picked the wrong console to be my main multiplatform device. And I find the excuse of the dev kits not being mature enough a flimsy one at best that won't make that big of a difference in the end.

Maybe it's just all the negativity going around the forum that's getting to me. Sorry for the rant, I'm going to go try and enjoy some games lol

Aren't the only modes the XSX is getting beaten in just the high-frame low-tech modes? As soon as you implement the next-gen bells and whistles (RT, etc.) it pulls ahead. What comparisons in particular are you referring to?

Just wait until Xbox Series X multiplats outperform Ps5 in the future and regret again.

Personally I don't really like star wars, but I completed it on Ps4 and found it rather enjoyable. Much better than Jedi Fallen Order, which for me was only ok until the open world started.

Anyone here playing destiny 2? I'm thinking its something with HDR that is messing with the picture. The wife and I both playing on the TCL 55R615. I tuned the HDR and she did not yet the colors and lighting are constantly going crazy and washed out almost inverted looking sometimes. Mine is a but more noticeable than hers but hers does do it too. When a scene flips dark shadows and everything kind of get super light and grey, but then when I use assassin's cowl and turn invisible and the game applies that weird graphical affect everything on screen looks super weird. Driving me crazy cause otherwise its fine. (Outside of general game bugs)

I'm enjoying Fallen Order, except for the idiotic platforming sequences with slides and rope swinging.. and the constant need to backtrack to get back to the ship. Other than that, it's a great game, so if Battle Front is better, I might need to buy it!

Why don't you check it on game pass?

HDR in Destiny 2 has always been fucked to an extent. The calibration tool inside Destiny 2 tends to be off and it varies depending on the screen. Some areas look great but others will look crazy blown out. Its all over the place and has been that way since it was introduced.

I haven't messed with calibration tool inside D2 this is all the Series X, my 1X didn't have this problem at all.. don't get what's going on here :(

Perhaps something to do with NL then. I have never had D2 act correctly with HDR. Especially in Gambit.

I absolutely loved Jedi FO, but the God damn platforming drove me nuts. I suck at and don't generally like platformers (Ori being the exception) and that shit rope swinging was such a pain, I kept dying from repeatedly missing the 2nd rope or target landing space. I finally put it in Story mode since you don't take damage in platforming. Might need to look into Battlefront if it's as good or better.

Also is Control Ultimate worth it for $20? I refused to buy it when they locked content away from Xbox gamers, but I do like Remedy games. Quantum Break is one of my favorite games from last gen.

Wondering same on Control Ultimate... i bought Control vanilla and i think season pass maybe? Haven't even played it yet but frustrated that they want me to spend $40 MORE just for next gen version... but at $20 is it worth it? Huge kick in the balls either way

Yeah that's total BS and another consumer very unfriendly irritation, kind of reminds me of what Sony did with Spiderman "remaster". It's probably 505 doing this crap and I shouldn't hold it against Remedy though.

I also wonder if it's going to pop up on Game Pass in the future. I started to buy Plague Tale in a sale a while ago but forgot to do, shortly there after it appeared on GP.

Control is a Remedy ass Remedy game. If you like that its well worth the $20. The DLC is decent. Its not worth an extra $20 imo. Maybe $10

The Control Ultimate (or whatever it's called) includes the game, Series X upgrade and all the DLC though, right?

Storywise Control is so much more cryptic than QB. I mean, even with all the time travel complexities, the dramatic story beats are kind of simple and easy to digest. Control, on the other hand is really hard to decipher. It is basically a story written by David Lynch fanboys. That said, I think I understood it and had fun with it anyways.

Anyhoo, checked out a few more games:

Sea of Thieves looks phenomenal. I used to play it a lot, but have not loaded it up in a while. Super subjective, but I still think it is the most (or top3) impressive game from last gen, graphically.

Observer Redux is a bit rough. It clearly needs some optimisation.

My problem with the story is that it to get the real ending you need to play through AWE. But even then its not clear.

Just bought Crash Team Racing for kids and parents and also Control Ultimate so i can get the XSX version next year... tempted to pick up Squadrons but don't know if i would play it? Seems like more of a rental/EA Play kinda game to me i dunno. Crazy to look at this huge list of games on sale and feel like i already own a majority of the best ones.

FYI i clicked on the GPU Perks tile this morning and discovered that they are giving away the new Gears 5 $20 wrestler pack for free! Not a fan of wrestling but more characters/skins etc is welcome :)

Also on the Microsoft Rewards page on my dashboard it says if i spend like $50 in the Black Friday sale on games they will gift me 5,000 points but it only counted my purchase of Control for some reason... i bought two copies of Crash Team Racing which are in the sale but they didn't count???

Just an FYI for anyone with a Series X that plays Rocket League. You can turn off V-sync to decrease latency, and there is no tearing. On One X it was a mess with it turned off.

The rewards tracking for stuff like this is sometimes buggy. It might show up later or not at all. There's some way to get support help for rewards stuff but they can be pretty slow.

I'm really enjoying control, the whole atmosphere of the game is amazing.

The controls are very nice and snappy they learnt a lot from quantum break.

I have a feeling this will be an amazing game,

It’s impossible to get a XSX here in Spain, I managed to grab 2 PS5 but the XSX it is really hard to get, actually many people is still pending to get their preorders.

I believe most of the European countries are facing this very same situation, and apparently shortages are expected until early next year

That team has to be far into the sequel by now. I wouldnt want to pull anyone off to work on the older game at this point.

The game has a 60 FPS mode and a high res mode, I can’t imagine uncapping the high res mode would take too tremendously much work

Control should not have price, it's artistic and gameplay values cannot be valued in mere mortal currency.
It's my GOTG, bar none, even better than Forza Horizon 3 and that's saying something.
