4.5* more power is a new generation. Just because there are no hardware exclusive games mean nothing. That's the new reality. Like the iphone model.

New much more powerful hardware, is new much more powerful hardware.

Then I'm sure they will name it appropiately, not just Xbox One something...right?

My guess is they scrap the "One". An call it Xbox "something".

If they are smart? Yes. As the "one" name is rather tainted. Better to start a new, and I kind of like Scorpio, it reminds a bit of when SEGA was around and actually named their consoles. Not just adding numbers to it.

I think the X also works in that original Xbox logo way of the X coming out the black background. So hyped if that is the logo.

Haha Cliffy.

Microsoft's Project Scorpio console will surely be one of the biggest storylines in gaming this year. Due out in holiday 2017, the system is billed as the "most powerful console ever made." Now, Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski, who left Epic Games to create LawBreakers studio Boss Key, has weighed in.

In a Reddit AMA today for LawBreakers was asked for his thoughts on Scorpio. He praised Microsoft for "getting their sh** together" and mentioned that an Xbox One version of LawBreakers could happen.

"MS is getting their sh** together. They're putting it in a backpack or in a shit museum and getting it alllll together," Bleszinski said. "Scorpio is promising. MS bet on Kinect too hard last round. Don't rule out an Xbox version [of LawBreakers], btw."

You people need to realize that just like the Surface Pro (newest one dropped the number), the Scorpio will just be called "Xbox". They will change the packaging of all games including the Xbox 360 to just say Xbox, because they will all work on any system (I take that back, the 360 ones will still say 360).
Book it, it will just be called "Xbox"

Now that specs are known, what's the over/under on the release date?

I am thinking September 19th 2017, along with FM7

I heard a frightening figure regarding cost from someone in the industry.

It's a bit of a 'friend knows a guy who worked with someone who...' situation, so I'm trying to take it with a pinch of salt.

But, sweet mother of God, if it's true, I'm probably out.

Well spill the beans then

I'm going with sometime in August, as I don't see them missing the Middle Earth Shadow of War release timeframe. They'll want to have Scorpio available for that game, along with all the other releases this year.

Please elaborate. I, for one, doubt the price will be egregious. No more than $499 or they are dead in the water. Honestly, I expect $399.

I dont see it release in August after they said last year Holiday 2017. If that was possible they would have said Q4 2017. Hope to be wrong tho.

Share what you heard. I'm scared now.

There have been some hints that things are ahead of schedule. I think the "Holiday 2017" may have been them sandbagging to avoid the chance of missing expectations. I could be wrong, but I'm hoping they are just underpromising and overdelivering. The price falls into the same category. All this talk about it being "premium" means either A) they have been preparing us all along for a stupidly high price tag or B) they are setting us up with high price expectations only to spring a lower price on us (that is still higher than everything else) that makes us feel better. As I think about it more, it could probably go either way.

If this thing is $600+ though I think they've officially lost touch with reality. The only thing that has me thinking they could try it is the success of the Elite controller. That thing sold well at $150, so they very well could be thinking they can sell a console for 2.5x or so.

They said that last year and Phil has had a complete model at his house for like over 2 months.

I know. But if they knew it was possible to be ahead of schedule i think holiday 2017 is still abit weird. Unless you are sure you wanna release in that window.

Then share? Otherwise your info is useless to us.

"Scary" would have to be 599 and that's not happening.

Well, as I said, take this with a pinch of salt. I personally hope it's wrong.

But what they said was that 599 (not sure of currency - I guess either € or US$) was actually what it cost TO BUILD.

Just to be clear - I'm not vouching for the accuracy of this. I'm very skeptical myself, but I just wanted to share.

I imagine the launch units available will be $499, but that will be the premium SKU with a $399 version releasing later or in smaller quantities.

Xbox Scorpio Specs revealed. SCORPIO IS OVERPOWERED AF

"SR5 RYZEN CPU @ 2.8ghz 8 cores 8 threads
AMD VEGA CUSTOM GPU @ 977 MHZ 6.2 teraflops, 12gb GDDR5x RAM 320gb per second bandwidth, WILL RUN ALL GAMES AT PC ULTRA QUALITY EQUIVALENT NATIVE 4K 60fps period........."

Now that would be next gen 60 FPS gaming on what is normal 30 on consoles today, put in about 10 TF and it will be what I would expect from Ps5 / xb2 in 2019 / 2020. Would probably require a smaller node than current 14/16 nm. Roll on next gen.

Back on topic, 100 $ more than ps4 pro at first

Does that include R&D?

Production of electonic is always in $, no matter what.
Do you talk about Xbox Scorpio, or Ps3?
Because the former is certainly sub $399 in production.

A fucking IPhone or GTX Titan is cheaper to produce (cheaper than 400)

Well...yeah lets take that with a tiny nanometer pinch of salt.

Unless they have some super secret hardware feature not tied to the main chip set or they will build the thing from metal(they wont) I doubt it will be that much money to make.

599 to build sounds more like a retail price and not the cost for production

It depends on the supply chain but also the company paying. Most of Nintendo's costs for instance are in JPY. This was a very big factor when the Yen was really strong around the time they were trying to launch the WiiU.
