Xbox Sales Are Super Dead

Story time ladies and gentlemen. I was feeling a little nostalgic for Xbox and while I was enjoying my 360, I wanted to play some of the enhanced bc games. So I went into my regular big box retailer here in North America and picked up a series X. It wasn’t one of the new 6nm revisions and I was a bit surprised as it’s been out for like 2 weeks now. Anyway, that’s didn’t matter. I just got home and unboxed my Series X. While unboxing it, I took a look at the serial label on the box.

Now here’s the kicker, the manufacture date is 29-May-2023. Like wtf, that’s 1 and a half years ago. How do you still have stock that old? So this got me thinking about how overstuffed the channels must be for Xbox is they still have inventory from 1.5 years ago. If you’ve recently purchased a series X, can you take a look at the manufactured date and report back?

I think the Series X needs a massive price drop along with the S. This is crazy bad.

That could be very normal if you do live in a 2k resident small town and you bought it at the last K-Mart in the world. 😬
Unfortunately, I live in a city with 1.5 million people. That’s why it’s so fucking wild. Like how is that remotely even possible? And how is Microsoft ok with that? They projected big losses in hardware for next quarter. If that’s the case, why don’t they just discount the console and hope to make it back in gamepass subs. Anyway, I’ll be holding onto my receipt because I expect big sales leading up to Christmas.

Oh man. Going back to end of 2020 to the present, work, friends, and family , I'm the only person I know that ever had a Series X or S and I swapped that for a PS5. Last gen I think I knew a handful with an Xbox One but by 2020 almost everyone I knew had swapped it for a PS4

On a side note. I’d been very burned out by games over the last year. I just felt I had been slogging through games… not really enjoying them.

I remembered that I had an Xbox series X (I moved and didn’t hook it back up in favor of my ps5) and that I had a few more months of gamepass.

And man! Playing Call of Duty, tinkering around with a few other games kinda sparked my enjoyment of the hobby again.

More and more people do their shopping online only. But yeah it sure is surprising and you're right, there should have been a sale by now. Also, the Series S is the more popular Xbox console.

I think some new console bundle wouldn't hurts either. Stalker 2 is coming out soon.

Yea but if you want it that hour I’m going to the store.
I guess. It's hard to think of anything that I want so badly that I can't wait one or two days for it to show up at my house. The thought of driving to a shopping center, parking, walking around the store, waiting in line...so exhausting. That's why I'm not surprised there's year-old console stock on the shelf. It's hard to imagine going to a store to buy anything other than food. Even then, many stores deliver groceries now.

Last XBOX I owned was the original XBOX with amazing top tier classics like Halo, Halo 2, and Timesplitters 3 Future Perfect. These days there's barely any point in owning a XBOX compared to PC. Halo Infinite is a PC launch and Elder Scrolls VI should be one too. At least for Playstation and Nintendo there's still decent exclusives there or timed exclusives at the very least.

Funny part is that people were sucking Phil Spencer off so hard they were too busy to notice that they were being duped.

How $&%#ing lazy can people be?! Your house is so amazing, you can just stay there all day outside of work? Being home all day is excruciatingly annoying.

Why lose money with a price cut when you can just release your games for profit on playstation and pc instead.

Dont worry, the digital edition XSX will start getting manufactured more.

You bring up an interesting point tho. Because that could be a sign they moved on from the orig XSX.

Could be his gaming time is limited. I know mine is with other hobbies and family. Sometimes people just don’t want to wait their at home bored and they want to game.

Despite that, they have tons of great games coming to game pass. ps plus has been horrendous in comparison.

Out of everyone in my group, we all had 360s. Now, only one has a Series X and that's mainly a streaming box. I haven't seen a Xbox in a home since it's launch. Usually, it's PC or Playstation

I still want a series x just to play lost lost Odyssey and blue dragon on. Plus my kids have long been dying to play a forza horizon game. Also to be able to play Gears on.
But damn the thing is expensive to just have for some novel games.
