Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
I'm just glad that no Wonder Woman movie was made in the 90s.

oh it would have aged terribly. But Lucy...

you know what, I'd still take 2014 Lucy (who is nearing her 50's) over whoever they've cast now. She has aged like a fine, expensive wine <3

Was one of my favorite shows to watch. Silly campy fun, comedy, and action. That said it tackled dark stuff at times. For all the camp it actually had better character development for the leafs as the series progressed then many more serious shows. Was also the first show I remember to do the musical episode. The subtext in the relationship between the leads was something for the gMe as well.

I was always disappointed that Lucy waited until Spartacus to do a topless scene. Not that I'm complaining but would have been nice if she let those puppies out when they were a bit perkier. :D~~

Aww man, I got into Hercules TLJ recently from being on The Hub, I wish they'd put Xena on the Hub, but maybe they figure Hercules was pushing it and Xena would be straight up too racy for the network. But I'd love to watch it again, I never really saw much of the later episodes for some reason or the other.

With Lucy Lawless on Agents of Shield I kinda hope they'll bring that Xena reference from Thor back full circle by having her Shield character meet Sif and saying "Man, you remind me of myself when I was younger. I totally dig the getup."

Ares had so much swag. Loved him.

Agreed, best version of the god ever. Speaking of which though, when I watched Hercules recently I was also playing Kid Icarus Uprising and it's really easy to see the similarity between the two, but it makes me sad Xena and Hercules never really did much with Hades. Uprising Hades would've been a PERFECT fit for the show.

wait WHAT????????!!!!!

WHEN did THIS happen?????? I ditched that show about 5 or 6 episodes in, it was so terrible and mediocre (I wanted so bad for it to be good). But Lucy Lawless being on would force me to tune in again..... Is it just a cameo?? (I'll tune in even if it's just a cameo)

Announced recently at Comic Con.

Tancharoen confirms that Lucy Lawless will appear on the show "playing a longtime SHIELD veteran. She's tough. She may have a knife that's always by her side. Her name is Isabelle Hartley, and you'll be seeing her pretty soon."

I would link you to the article, but it's spoilers galore, the show made a startlingly drastic comeback after the Winter Soldier tie in. I'd give it another shot, you'll be surprised.

Thank you for this!!! :D :D

I LOOOOOOOVE Winter Soldier, it's my favorite movie of 2014 (and Chris Evans is my fave actor). So hearing it has a positive effect on the show...... I may need to catch up! Lucy is one of those where I'll tune in to a show just for her and if the show really has improved, all the better! :)

fucking love herc and xena. xena was definitely the better overall show, but H:TLJ still entertained the shit out of me.

B.S. Hollinsfoffer: You're the executive producer of this show, this is your idea of quality programming?

Rob Tapert: Oh c'mon B.S. you know me better than that, I've never cared about quality.

BS: You don't have to tell me twice, I saw last season. First, you turn Hercules into a pig. Now this. What's your thing with animals anyway, huh?

RT: Why, what have you heard?

It was an awesome show back in the day, i havn't watched an episode in nearly 10 years though. I wonder if i would still enjoy it as much as i did back then, i still enjoy many other 80's classics today (eg: Knight Rider, MacGyver) but they were watched when i was really little.

OH MY GOD YES I LOVE THIS THREAD!

Xena formed a very significant part of my childhood. It was basically a ritual to watch it with my stepmum every Saturday evening. I think my favourite episodes were the three-parter with Velasca and Callisto in Season 2 (Destiny, The Quest, A Necessary Evil), the "Groundhog Day" episode (Been There, Done That), the two-parter involving China in Season 3 (The Debt) and the opening two-parter of Season 4 (Adventures in the Sin Trade). I've got them all on DVD now, save for one disc which I seem to have misplaced.

I hated the ending though...I'm not even kidding when I say I teared up with frustration. I'd stopped watching the episodes when the timeslot was moved and had only just discovered that Xena was still airing at 12:45 am - and then blam, the series ended with that.

Also:

Moments like these were so damned awesome. xD That's from this episode:

Also...this line in Season 4 completely took me by surprise. :x

Best show ever.

Oh Gabby....

My favorite episode has to be the groundhog day episode.

Loved this show as a kid. Had the biggest crush on both Xena and Gabrielle. So when Spartacus come out, it was like a childhood dream coming true. :) Damn Lucy Lawless aged well.

Throw me in with those who were gutted in finding out that Kevin Smith died in real life. He was so awesome on this and Hercules.

Also can't believe no one has mentioned Bruce Campbell, he was awesome in this and Hercules aswell. The King of Thieves... I think this is the first role I ever saw him in.

I really digged the cast. Except Ted Raimi. Joxer was annoying.

Ares was amazing. Totally wish he was in more episodes.

Damn, I really want to rewatch these, particularly Xena. I remember we could see the set from my Dad's friends house, and I was super jealous because my brother got to visit the sets because his friend's uncle worked there. Good times!

Buffy, Alias, Dark Angel owe a lot to Xena for pioneering the female lead action show. Xena could go toe to toe with the men but still retained her feminity and people still watched.

Also throw in some lesbian undertones. Writers didn't intend it but they toyed with it once fans started responding to it.

Well, she did have her wardrobe malfunction while singing the Star Spangled Banner...

Hated this show as a kid because my sister was OBSESSED with it.

I guess I can now appreciate that she had a badass woman figure to look up to.

I loved watching this when I was young but I haven't returned to it yet. Don't want to mess up that nostalgia...

I've never really watched Xena but this thread is making me interested. Off to Netflix to see.. (oh who am I kidding, they never have anything you want to watch)

EDIT: "Oh you want to watch Xena. It's unavailable but you'll like Sword of the Truth and Charmed instead"

This show was such a guilty pleasure of mine. Liked it much more than Hercules. Loved Lawless but always looked forward to a Callisto episode.

YESSS!!!! Great choice in favorite episodes, I'd also add the Ides of March of season 4 which is really considered the finale of that season (not the joke therapist episode which was actually aired last) and the season finale of season 5 Motherhood, plus anything dealing with the twilight of the gods in season 5 to that list for my faves <3 I also enjoyed the Dahaka stuff dealing with Gabrielle, in season 3 I believe? (maybe 2?)

I really digged the cast. Except Ted Raimi. Joxer was annoying.

Yeah Ted..... Ted could go. Wasn't he the brother of Sam Raimi the producer of the show??? Prob why he was hired tbh....

EXACTLY! Xena is the blueprint for the modern badass female, one of the many reasons she's one of my favorite characters ever <3

Ah, well that answers the Netflix question a previous poster had! LMAOOOOOOO @ being recommended Charmed instead

Agreed! Bruce was amazing! Also, I always enjoyed Aphrodite, she was kind of a ditz, and really funny, but when things got serious she really cared. Also love the episode where she temporarily becomes mortal and finds out what pain feels like and that humans don't stay clean like the gods do XD. Also, Karl Urban was great on the show and he's had a wonderful career since this show, did you guys know Karl played double duty as Cupid AND Caesar on Xena?

Such a great, great show. Lucy Lawless was kinda iconic for television and women roles in general at that time, wasn't she? The relationship they made between her and Gabrielle was really brave for that time.

Anyone else still play this game from time to time?

I had that game. Seeing how far I could snipe guys from across the map with the chakram by swerving around mountains and trees was such a troll like minigame if you imagine the enemy reactions.

Agree, brave for sure! And yes I REMEMBER that Xena game, I was a kid at the time with limited money so I could never get it. Always wanted the PS1 Xena and Reboot (another classic show) games so bad

The baby ruined the show.

Which one?

LMFAO yeah which baby?

Lucy Lawless, the Real Wonder Women.

Xena was my favorite show on the planet. I watched it and Hercules back to back (Kind of the same way I watched Buffy and Angel). However I preferred Xena because of the battle cry lol. My sister is named partially after her due to my obsession as a kid. I wanted my sister so bad to have the name of Xena. It's close enough though lol

yaaaasssss Aya!!! <3
I did the same as you with back 2 back Xena/Herc and Buffy/Angel. Preferred the female shows for both Xena & Buffy >>>> Herc & Angel. Haha love the sister name thing XD.... speaking of, I think the next cat that I get will be named Xena :D

I was obsessed with Xena when I was about four or five because it was my sisters favorite show (grew up on that crappy Xena and Hercules animated movie and would still watch it today lol) but I really don't remember the show so much because I was so young.

But it IS on Netflix so I just started watching again juuuust now.
