OH MY GOD YES I LOVE THIS THREAD!
Xena formed a very significant part of my childhood. It was basically a ritual to watch it with my stepmum every Saturday evening. I think my favourite episodes were the three-parter with Velasca and Callisto in Season 2 (Destiny, The Quest, A Necessary Evil), the "Groundhog Day" episode (Been There, Done That), the two-parter involving China in Season 3 (The Debt) and the opening two-parter of Season 4 (Adventures in the Sin Trade). I've got them all on DVD now, save for one disc which I seem to have misplaced.
YESSS!!!!
Great choice in favorite episodes, I'd also add the
Ides of March of season 4 which is really considered the finale of that season (not the joke therapist episode which was actually aired last) and the season finale of season 5
Motherhood, plus anything dealing with the twilight of the gods in season 5 to that list for my faves <3 I also enjoyed the Dahaka stuff dealing with Gabrielle, in season 3 I believe? (maybe 2?)
I really digged the cast. Except Ted Raimi. Joxer was annoying.
Yeah Ted..... Ted could go. Wasn't he the brother of Sam Raimi the producer of the show??? Prob why he was hired tbh....
Buffy, Alias, Dark Angel owe a lot to Xena for pioneering the female lead action show. Xena could go toe to toe with the men but still retained her feminity and people still watched.
EXACTLY! Xena is the blueprint for the modern badass female, one of the many reasons she's one of my favorite characters ever <3
I've never really watched Xena but this thread is making me interested. Off to Netflix to see.. (oh who am I kidding, they never have anything you want to watch)
EDIT: "Oh you want to watch Xena. It's unavailable but you'll like Sword of the Truth and Charmed instead"
Ah, well that answers the Netflix question a previous poster had! LMAOOOOOOO @ being recommended
Charmed instead
can't believe no one has mentioned Bruce Campbell, he was awesome in this and Hercules aswell. The King of Thieves... I think this is the first role I ever saw him in.
Agreed! Bruce was amazing! Also, I always enjoyed Aphrodite, she was kind of a ditz, and really funny, but when things got serious she really cared. Also love the episode where she temporarily becomes mortal and finds out what pain feels like and that humans don't stay clean like the gods do XD. Also, Karl Urban was great on the show and he's had a wonderful career since this show, did you guys know Karl played double duty as Cupid
AND Caesar on Xena?
