I've always wondered how Sony and Microsoft will react to the PS3 and 360 emulations being completed. Like, I feel like they tolerated people who emulated Xbox/PS1/2 games but with this... I feel like they might actually take action.

they can't do anything, that ship has long sailed off da horizon

They can be totally petty about it and stage a huge legal campaign, that, while not having any chances of success, could still end up completely bankrupting a few of the major contributors and therefore disrupting the project. At the same time, the more attention they give to these projects the more users the emulators will likely have as a result. Catch-22.

By the time this is playing most commercial games properly, 360 will be about 2 gens out. I doubt MS will care much by then.

Hello Everyone,

Was curious if anyone could please try ninety-nine nights? Always wanted to play it and never got a chance. That could push me over the edge to upgrade the video card and jump in :) Thanks.

The emulator has still a long, long way to go before it can play retail games reliably and without major issues.

I feel like this emulator will take many many more years before you can play full games on this without major glitches and performance issues.

Will anyone still care by then?

People still care about Dolphin even though it can play most games 100%, so why wouldn't they care about a 360 emulator that can finally play games at 100%?

In 100 years people will still care about Saturn emulation.

How about 200 years?

All jokes aside, I think it's cool that someone is working on this and I really do hope that a well working emulator eventually gets released. I just feel like it may be a decade off since we still haven't gotten an original Xbox emulator that is fully working at this point.

I think the problem with the OG Xbox is the lack of information on the GPU. It's down to reverse engineering that thing now and ain't nobody got time for that I guess. The creator of Xenia said that it's astounding how much information on the 360 is publicly available though Google.

The Xeon-emu author said that the biggest problems were the GPU and the specific implementation of DirectX used for the OG Xbox. Hard to find documents and toolkits.

Of course they will.

But yes, as with pretty much all console emulators, the gap between the original console and full, reasonably glitch-free emulation will be many years long.

Emulators will only get more important as time passes and working original hardware is harder to get hold of. Being able to play games like Lost Odyssey 20 years from now is very important.

Pretty decent progress if they are emulating in-game without a bios, on modern platforms the bios is a mini operating system almost.

It's strange (and somewhat sad) the original xbox has been neglected by the emulation scene, it's much harder to play some of the xbox exclusives than the '360 titles which generally were also on PC and/or PS3.

Looking forward just to navigating the 'Blades' again - please tell me someone managed to rip that OS before the updates came out.

Surely it's cheaper to buy an old 360 then re-sell it

I wonder how much a remaster at e3 will detriment the emulation effort
You're saying this like it is guaranteed. I don't think we have any reliable leak though, right?
As much as I'd appreciate a PC remaster...

Yup. I mean, the fact RDR is playable on XB1 through 360 emulation and just hasn't been released means I think a remaster isn't going to happen.

From what I understand, Rockstar lost parts of the source code or most of it isn't documented.

I doubt we're getting a remaster or PC version any time soon if at all.

Haven't checked this in awhile, but desided to run it today on a few games. Couldn't play them but Vanquished can now boot and so can ChromeHounds

Original Xbox games like Panzer Dragoon Orta and Phantom Dust are the only games I can think of, but I know there are others that would be appreciated by gamers.

But in the end I think people will be satisfied with youtube. Games may fade into existence but youtube lives on! They will probably play a remake/clone/skinned of that game and feel the familiarity in gameplay and the video will be enough.

Games that will usually crash after a point now just freeze, not a drastic improvement but it's an improvement lol

Wonder when we will see the next big leap with the emulator.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.

MS could always one up them and release the voodoo that is the XB1 BC on PC, thereby rendering Xenia largely irrelevant.

I would totally be down for that as long as they offer experimental features like arbitrary resolution etc. for advanced users.

Was kind of expecting gameplay from Persona 4A there, especially considering the youtube title says gameplay lol

Didn't even realize P4A existed on 360.

IMO (and I am a big emu fan) it is the single emulator the world does not need at all.

But the progress is pretty impressive given the ultra-low interest in this activity.
