I guess so. I'm just really pissed off. I usually back up my stuff once a month but i didn't get a chance this time. I'm downloading it again now but don't think i have it i me to look at the game again. I'll see how i feel in the morning

Wait, so you can back up from a USB HDD? Just plug in it to your PC and find the save data folder?

That real sucks dude. Just play something else for a while and get back to a few days (or weeks/months). Trails in the Sky SC on Vita/PC is a real good JRPG - real different from this game: a 2D SNES/PSX style JRPG.

:(

Well that downright sucks. Was it an older drive? I've been using one that's probably 6yrs old. Did you have any warning sign or just *poof*?

It was fairly new only a year old. I tried another drive in the caddy to see if that was the problem but that one spins up fine. I had one or 2 stutters in the music but nothing to hint that the drive was dying.

All this time of only using BP for leveling up Arts.

I tried farming insect jaws and poisonous needles for the level 20 weapons. Is it just me, or do the weapons feel not worth it for all the effort it takes?

About the end of chapter five
totally called that they weren't entirely human about, ooh, a minute into the character creation process, when you get to choose their eyes and they're almost all weird cybernetic designs. Then it was confirmed when Elma straight up encourages you to jump off a cliff, and not long afterwards some NPC asks if someone is 'damaged'.

Other tells:
The healing arts in the game are named stuff like "repair". I did a mission before Chapter 5 where a woman asked if mimeosome bodies could get pregnant. There was a conversation at mission control before Chapter 5 where they say that if the Lifehold had been found by the enemy then none of them would be there talking about it.

Ouch... How did you even manage to fight? :-D

Yeah it's very different from Xenoblade on Wii. But - Do you still like it? ;_;

I think leveling up Arts is WAY more important than Skills. I haven't leveled up a single party member skill, I'm on a Ch.5. If I run into a tough boss, I will.

Wait, they let you do Hope's mission before Chapter 5? I guess that's one way in which the DLC missions weren't perfectly reintegrated into the game - I can't imagine they would have intended for you to hear that line before Chapter 5.

Never seen a game that has so little respect for the player's time ... it's baffling..

I think we got the most overrated game of the year now !

I used the Archetype Sword (lvl20 one) for the rest of the game after I got it, it was absolutely worth it. I didn't even have to grind that long for the mats.

Don't know, I'm mostly kicking butt anyway. Whether the skills are level 1 or 4-6 (which is what I guess they would've been had I known about it earlier) doesn't feel hugely important to the point where you can't manage without them being leveled up, but having my Max HP Up be 30% instead of 15% etc. would've been helpful.

I still say not having Nopon mechs was the biggest mistake of the game.

Non much looking mechs would be great. More curves and maybe some weird fashion stuff for mechs would be good too.

I actually thought with the game Nintendo would have way more crossover content but it looks like we already have all the content we will get. Kinda wish they followed the MH4 stuff and had monthly updates etc. There must be a way to add more missions etc right?

Its a hugely polarising game it seems. In the last 39 years of walking the earth i have played a SHiTLoAD of games, i cant stand to think how much i have spent on this hobby, and something about this game makes me get drawn into it more than possibly 99% of the other stuff i have played. Totally in love with the aesthetic, world, systems and the game im general.

are all the classes/branches balanced or are some better than others? And can I change class/skills if I want?
I personally wouldn't say they're balanced no but the game is forgiving at least and lowers the difficulty if you're struggling in a boss fight at your current level and with your current party.

Biggest pain in the ass is being forced to use certain party members whose class kind of clashes with yours. Like I'm always being forced to use x and y dude and it's like no man. Fuck you game. They can appear in the cutscene and then gtfo but if you don't have the decency to auto level up the characters to a minimum level for each chapter they're relevant then don't put them in there.

Hope isn't a DLC character. You can do her mission as early as Chapter 3 if you get your level to 21.

lol youve obviously never played elder scrolls online.

i was playing it just prior to picking up xenoblade and damn these games are night and day. atleast xenoblade rewards you at steady intervals. elder scrolls makes leveling take days and rarely rewards you with anything worthy.

I'm like 30 and still can't do it. The board just never seems to give me the quest to start it or something.

The quest to start Hope's line is seemingly unrelated to her in the beginning, which might be confusing you. Close and open the console until it pops up. It's the one to gather 10 natural pearls. You get that quest, don't need to gather anything, just then go to the church to trigger the Affinity Quest there.

So I finally found the time to dive into the game this weekend and I really want to enjoy it. Everthing gameplay related is cool so far, and coming from the OG Xenoblade Wii game, one of my favorite RPG games, lots of things feel familiar...

... but I just can't play for long because of the font size. What's up with that font size? I've never had problems like that before on my TV, I already had to get a lot closer to the screen and I still have to look real hard to read some of the smaller texts and elements. I've seen this coming up a few times in this thread already, so I guess I'll also post on miiverse and tweet to Nintendo in hope they are able to patch an optional second font size..? What setups/TVs are people playing on who don't have a problem with the fonts?
edit: I'm playing on a 8 year old 32" Panasonic Viera with 1366x768 resolution.

What the fuck are some of you doing that you this high ass income from probes. Like where are you fucking finding research probes I haven't gotten a single one. And saying "do missions" doesn't help as I've been doing them and still haven't received shit.

There isnt even text to say you can do that like with Arts, but i just assumed you could . just the way this game treats the player.

Also you can do some funny stuff in the equip gear menu by pressing X

if you look on the map it tells you which hexagonal block has a probe in it.

the way to make money is to just make it a mining probe and play(or leave your wiiU on and let it stack that cash).

also keep in mind that you need to have some storage probes too if you want to carry more than a certain amount.

Just finally started the game and I am currently on Chapter 2. Felt a little overwhelming at first, but I think I am getting used to things now.

Going to stop now as I have to go to work, but I can't wait to play more tonight when I get home.

I totally agree, man. The first 5 hours of the game - I didn't think I was going to keep on playing this game. I just pull up a chair, instead of sitting on the couch, when playing.

It's by far my biggest complaint with this entire game.

I find them in almost every "yellow" treasure chest, where you mash A to open them. I don't want to say you find one every time, but A LOT.

I couldn't disagree more. What are you talking about specifically? Collectibles for missions?

Basically, the game feels like work.

Having to set up millions of probes ...

most quests are fetch quests ( go get 5 rabbit tails ...)

Good content is locked behind grinding ( affection points ....)

Most missions don't give basic directions to where you must find the multiple (sigh...) items you require. It's like "go find 5 tails in Noctilum" which is the size of a whole continent ... well fuck you game !

Edit : I forgot to mention that text size that destroys my eyes !

Its the text of the game, unfortunately :/ i doubt a change of Tv is going to do anything, True that this is your first HD game, Monolith, but more pixels are not going to make people eyesight magically better. Most games dont do this.

Setting up probes is a natural part of exploring. Finding rabbit tails is a natural part of exploring. Affection isn't at all hard to get: explore and fight and quest with the character in question. Not having a direction to find an item is because, though some items are in a bit of a region, you get them, again, by exploring and not skipping over the blue crystals.

PS Skell Tipz

The first skell you get is a clunker Bad weapons, bad hp, bad fuel. The best you can do with it is use it as an additional hit to get past something that normally 1hits you, and explore. That said, it's still fuckin cool look at it walk mmmm yesss

I suggest railroading right to 30 and buying any level 30 mech asap, especially the most expensive one. Buying a light might be fine but you might have fuel problems. Fuel is 5000 miranim for a shitty 3000 units. The heaviest mech comes with the scythe, a back attack weapon that does sicknasty amounts of damage, and a heatran, which does ok amounts of damage and staggers really easily. You can use it to farm a phoenix, an aoe ranged taunt that does something like 10k 3 times to all enemies around you. It's very good. And you can farm a G2 Buster or a G Blade, both of which are high damage. Both of these weapons cost 200 fuel. Both can be found by killing the 1 pugith and 2 mechs at Probe 409 in Sylvanum.

The FIRST THING you want to do at 50, 60, or post-game, is get your level 50 heavy mech. That's 4.3m credits. You may or may not have gotten some level 50 phoenix/gblade at 409, but if not, instead go to 406 and kill the level 40ish mechs in the field just to the front until you get, specifically, a phoenix that is blue or better. Having this will make doing the support missions only take a few minutes each so you can make mo money faster or get that BP.

~Do the global nemesis~

To do the global nemesis, you need blade medals. You get blade medals for scouting blades (from the counter next to the quest board), using them for a little bit, then releasing them at the same counter. Practically everything that you can craft required high level items, but the current global nemesis as of this post is the Telethia Plume. If you fight it long enough or even beat it, you can get telethia items. Otherwise it drops parts that are of no use except for exchanging for a high amount of tickets, so either way you can get the crafted things easier by doing global nemesis. Even if you can't beat it, your goal is to try and time out on it. Defeat yeilds the least amount of items.

I think you can also get blade medals by scout rewards if your char is scouted by someone else, since I've gotten scout rewards and medals despite never doing that stuff

Well you do join BLADE to do a job. They clearly let players know that the bulk of their time is sorting probes, killing indegens and the survival of humankind.

Many of the tedious fetch quests can be done ahead of time just by exploring and collecting. Sure there are a few things that are trickier but the gem rewards you for spending time exploring.

The Affinity stuff could be handled better. I was more annoyed about having to find a certain percentage of the world than gaining affinity.

Sometimes the game feels like Dark Souls where it fully expects you to look outside the game to find things out. They could do a much better job in this regard.

It's probably next to impossible for Nintendo to patch the text size in a project like this without redoing most UI and menue elements so I have little hope seeing that most people can deal with it. But who knows, maybe they'll listen.
