Just finished the prologue and got to chapter 1. Won't Lie, I felt a bit nervous when I saw a giant gorilla monster eating some fruit with a LVL. 30 about it's head.

I can already tell this game is going to be a vibe.
After playing the entire series on Switch and now playing X its a wonder how my Switch hasn't melted yet.
It always impressed me how Monolith Soft was able to keep a stable framerate with such a big world in the Xenoblade games.

31 hours into this game. I'm so surprised by how much freedom they give you when it come to exploration especially. I played through Chapter 4 Story Mission and I really am liking the story. So far I really like the stories attached to all the Affinity Missions. I still have to play through Chapter 5 Story Mission. I still need to get all the remaining recruitable characters. When I reach Chapter 6 or Chapter 7 is when I'm going to do a lot more sidequests and Affinity Missions. I'm also gonna to grind a ton. Right now my characters is around Levels 31 to Level 32.

Just wanted to warn people who haven't explored the Continent Sylvalum. That continent has a peculiar weather called Spore Clouds. It was annoying as fuck to get through and visibility is practically zero, so it's thicker than fog. This weather only occurs in Sylvalum. I thought it was a bug but looked it up and nope it's not. I died a lot of times due to being underleveled and all the enemies there being around 50 to 60 in the deeper parts of that area.

I love how this game doesn’t lock you out of anywhere. You can go explore all 5 regions as soon as you leave New LA if you’re crazy enough.
Yeah, the world is fun to explore. I’m level 22 now so it’s slightly less scary but I still need my wits about me.

How does XC3 compare to this? I never played it because I thought XC2 was wack.

This game is so massive, makes me wonder WTF are the SSD, installs and patches needed for on AAA games on current consoles.

Everything runs from the cartridge, the scale is absurdly huge, and loading times are like 2 seconds lol.

Already played it on Wii U, legendary game. Going to enjoy this new run again, love all the QoL features and the new UI.

Only downside in the framerate at 30. I put the camera speed at the lowest to avoid generating too much blur.

3 is broken down into different zones that are unlocked as the story progresses, but they’re all huge and have lots to do and explore.

I think 3 had my favorite battle system in the series. It has tons of classes and you mix/match skills. You can come up with some insanely busted combos once you figure it out. It’s chaotic as hell with all 6 party members + 1 guest all fighting at the same time. It took a little while to get the hang of it but it finally clicked and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I think it had the weakest cast of party members + villains in the series. The story was good but you’ll get the most out of it if you’ve played 1&2.

Music was also IMO the weakest in the series. It’s not bad but it doesn’t have any stand-out bangers for me like the other XC games did.

That's my only gripe with the game, I don't know why but I thought it was going to be 60 FPS. That camera trick is a good idea, not a fan of the motion blur.
yeah it’s way better at low speed. That shit gave me flashbacks to Final Fantasy Type 0 where the camera goes from stationary to nausea-inducing speed/blur with the slightest movement of the right stick.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
You know how Square Enix made the Crisis Core remaster, mostly because it needed to make the bulk of the game's assets for Rebirth anyway?

What if the Switch 2 is going to get announced with a sequel to this game?

Man, In playing the game again after all these years, I'd fortotten how much I dislike a lot of the music in the game. New LA, I'm looking at you especially. The open world tunes is still great and still feels like Xenoblade. Welcome to your new home X, Glad to have you.

The soundtrack is all over the place. It has abominations like New LA, but then it has god-tier songs like the Sylvalum theme, which I legit think is one of the best pieces of field music in any game ever.

New LA is one of the reasons I almost didn’t want to start this over. It means I have to live that nightmare of a song all over again.

Been playing through the game this past weekend and they've done a fine job of updating it. Visually it looks fantastic and the performance is spot on. Glad to see they've got rid of the overly doll-like looks of a lot of the character models and it no longer feels like Lin is going to consume my soul in some Silent Hill like twist.

I had forgotten how tough Mira is compared to the other games though. It's probably the best of the Open Worlds in the series but they wanted to make it feel hostile and it certainly is that. I have died so many damned times to tougher groups that are mixed in among lesser levelled critters. It's not as easy to outrun an enemy once it has it's eye on you and I've literally been chased for a good distance across primordia before getting cut down. In the other games the chase boundary is a lot more forgiving but in X those fuckers are not letting up unless you jump clear off a cliff.

Traversal in the game feels so good though. That slightly low gravity jump is so satisflying to use and makes traversing the environment a game in itself.

It really is. Suits the aesthetic of the region perfectly, although it almost feels as though the music is there to lull you into a false sense of security considering how brutal the enemies are in that area. Bringing that otherwise unknown sense of being beaten to death to the tune of a lullaby.

That happens to me all the time, trying to take out one enemy but then crazy high level enemy close by get aggro on you and wipe your entire party out in one shot.

Thankfully in this game death is not all that big deal that would make the experience frustrating.

Dude I love that song 👀

It's weird, coming back to the game the 3rd time after already loving it the 2nd time, I kinda even love the bad parts. I find myself bopping my head along to the NLA theme and getting into it lol

Unless there's a story mission or something that wants you to experience bad weather, you can just change the time a few times and the weather will change I think. Usually works so unless there's some special reason you got the sport clouds that can get rid of them

I don't mind the song, I actually hum it in my head whenever I'm not playing the game

I know I can change the weather which I did. But when I first encountered it I thought it was a bug. Had to look it up to see it wasn't a bug lol

It’s official, I love this ENTIRE series!! Every game every dlc, 10/10 masterpieces. Special ingredients, gaming would not be the same without them.
Youre The Best Princess Peach GIF

Yeah it's amazing how they released seven Xenoblade Chronicles games (I count the Story DLC as seperate games, they are more like Expansions though) and all of those games are FANTASTIC

Looks like a 75 year old with a toupee who keeps getting plastic surgeries to make himself look younger.

Man some of these characters really got hit with the ugly stick lol
My only real gripe with the game is the new characters might look graphically better but have much less personality and look lifeless. Elma, Lin, Gwin, L are not good and I wonder who redesigned them and who approved it and thought there were better than the original?

Literally spent 7 hours today just doing side quests, followed by a single main story mission. There are still a few affinity missions I can take on, but most of the ones that are left require finishing Chapter 11 (I just finished Chapter 8).

having a great time remembering how to overdrive

for noobs or ppl who've not played for years like me, it's very good to go to armory alley and craft the extended overdrive and overdrive count up augments. At level 25 I can't make the level XX ones but I can make the level XV ones. Just trade reward tickets for the parts with materials except for something called faucultium or whatever that you mine by putting down probes on the frontier nav. So it gives 17 seconds more overdrive time when you start which is really helpful when you are getting your bearings, and allows you to kill monsters with overdrive even while you are learning your class

overdrive is kinda like juggling coloured balls to kill a giant ape, it's wild

I just finished chapter 4, all I was doing was side quests and affinity quests and loving every minute of it.

It going to take me long time finish this game but I don’t, Im take my sweet time with this game.
Even after you finish the game there will be tons of places to explore and Tyrants(Elites) to fight so this is one of those long always something to do games. Easily 300+ hours IMO so yes take your time. Game is a treasure and shouldn't be rushed at all.

Biggest complaint is that you can’t advance the dialog during voiced sections per line.
This Qol feature is my only complaint so far, aside from the npc dialog text boxes being tiny even on docked mode
But the cutscene dialog, especially as the whole front of the game is heavily loaded with tutorials and explanations,my god I’m finding it painful to not be able to advance to the next voiced line once I’ve read what’s on screen, it feels archaic in that respect and a product of its time, but I’ve had to come at the whole start of the game in chunks because I can’t bear this much sitting around waiting for the dialog to finish.
I would be way further into the game if I had more patience, but my gaming time is limited these days and this game unfortunately needs a few more tweaks from the other games
