Yakuza 0 |OT| Yes, you can start with this one!

I wish I could get into it. It didn't do it for me like Cabaret Club did. I would pay for a whole game of just managing girls and fighting rivals.

I got hooked on both, but real estate lost its steam for me later on (even with Max Cooldown Reduction). I suppose recruiting sidestory friends for property and hiring is technically part of the journey though, like with Majima.

I don't see how so many people got burnt out on the Real Estate stuff, you barely even have to do anything.
You just spend like 3 minutes setting things up then go play minigames (that you were probably gonna play anyways) for a while, then repeat.

Where do you get the items that show the side quests for each character? I feel like I'm insane missing them.
Kiryu gets it from the black box at the end of one of the Miracle Johnson Substories.
Majima gets it from befriending the chef at Komian, across from his apartment

Wait a sec... there's no casino in Kamurocho is there? I was going to sit down for some gambling mini-games tonight and realized I'm going to have to get through Ch. 6 to do so!

Exactly the problem. All S-Ranks with even the best respective advisors got quite old. I could see people even doing it to complete the sidequest (which takes considerably less time) getting tired of it.

Ok this game is awesome. The skill tree unlocks cause some random guy tells you to invest in yourself like some wise shit lmfao

GOTY 2017 frontrunner for me.

This game is making me do things I wouldn't normally do.

Invest over 20 hours or so in a Real Estate venture? Only in this game.

I'm inching closer to beating the Gambling King and going head to head with the Media King.

The great thing is I got a boatload of cash with Kiryu now and I can upgrade all my skills. This was a wise investment.

Investment. Real Estate. I MADE A JOKE.

DAMN THIS GAME IS GOOD.

just how much money can you make in real estate fully upgraded btw?

With the cabaret club I was making
100 million yen every run with maxed out girls and getting constant mega-rich individuals.

and that's not considering the bonuses you get by defeating
the 5 cabaret individuals

I think I'm taking more damage from Telephone Club meetups than actual fights.
How many different substories do I have to do at the telephone club?

With all S rank buildings I'm making
around 1.35 Billion per collection
, minus staffing costs

I make about 1.35 Billion every 7-8 minutes with my setup. Though assuming you're doing just sidestory, cut that down by a few hundred thousand.

Right now I'm getting 700M early in the Media King territory. Fully upgraded will probably be around 1B. (Edit: Never mind, beaten, seems to be 1.35B)

It takes a while to get through Gambling and Media though. I much prefer the pacing on Majima's side as even Club Moon was pretty quick to challenge if you partnered with all the nearby businesses, so that story unfolded in a quick but effective way (on top of being fun to do).

I think there's 3 according to the GamersHero guide. I've only been able complete 1. Maybe Mr. Libido has something to do with it?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
God damn .. that chapter 6 ending. Amazing VO and some real powerful story stuff.

This is a great package, plenty of good addictive activities like the real estate thing and a very good story for the central plot.

i guess the implication here is that you need to invest more time into real estate. I don't know how crazy I am over that, so maybe I will just try to send as much money as I can from Majima ro Kyriu

If you do sidequests while waiting for collection, it's not too bad, but yeah even if you just count collecting, upgrading and beating the groups of people causing trouble, it takes more time than Majima's I'm pretty sure.

If you want quick money, earlier in the thread people said beating Mr Shakedown was pretty quick so you can do that instead. Or even do that and go collect once in a while. If you have the Encounter Finder to find Mr Shakedown quickly that is.

damn 105 pages!!! yakuza 0 is a hit =)

So glad its getting some recognition. I think its always had decent reviews, but it was never backed up by any real coverage in the mainstream media. Now we have streamers and let's plays and GIFs, and people are enjoying the game, that's great.

Has anyone here played Yakuza: Kiwami, and how is that compared with 0? Yakuza 1 has the shortest story, but I wonder if they added more side stories and minigames to the game?

i find myself only using rush, the other 2 fighting styles seem so slow

although i don't like the fact that you can only pick shit up in beast mode

You can pick things up in Brawler too, by pressing Circle, it's just that Beast Mode picks them up automatically when you're nearby and hitting people.

why was it a bluff... that's the head scratcher... i mean Kiryu was running from them. was this some kind of secret meeting where Awano was doing something covert outside of Yakuza orders... hmmm. it looks like Kuze was a decent guy after all since he was trying to untie Tachibana and he wasn't the one that set up Kiryu but got his finger cut off for it. i kinda liked Kuze by the end =)

Awano knew Kiryu would go to the club if he managed to beat Kuze. Kuze was out for blood so either Kiryu would be dead in the sewers or he would be at the club. At the time, it was right after Kuze lost the first fight so he was out for revenge.

Regarding the bluff, luce already explained but it's also good to remember that it isn't (or shouldn't be) easy to station dozens of men fully armed anywhere in Japan. While this does happen on occasion throughout the series, it's something completely abnormal.

And the whole Empty Lot case was supposed to be one big secret, armed men would draw too much attention. The method Awano tried to use against Kiryu fits him because he's a threat specialist and it's a minimum effort of his part.

Kuze untying Tachibana was not an act of kindness. He just realized that Tachibana was tougher than what he gave credit for and that the torture they were performing would get them nowhere. Kuze would probably think of another way of making Tachibana talk if that scene continued.

Awano was the Yakuza who'd become tempered because of the "cushyness" of the times that he lived in, a statement on the times that Japan was in. That they were starting to lose their edge. But when it came time to fight, one punch could come DANGEROUSLY FUCKING CLOSE TO BREAKING A WALL LIKE WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT.

I kinda want to see a
true Awano
fight in the Colisseum. If that's him rusty, imagine in his prime.

Press circle near objects to pick them. You cannot do this in rush mode

Beast mode just do that automatically while you attack

post-cabaret spoilers

Holy shit, Mad Dog of Shimano style is fucking amazing. Majima's base styles are cool, don't get me wrong, but they never necessarily gave me a feeling of "holy fuck I'm fighting as Majima". Having access to tons of moves from Majima's boss fights throughout the series is seriously kinda blowing me away.

Catfighting is bullshit. The AI automatically wins even if you have advantage on the mashing unless you push it all the way

Seriously! I've gotten Riku 6 times in 6 sessions at the phone place. There's like 7 substories from 9 women! The hell is the rest of them?

I see this gaping maw of real estate opening up in front of me, and I can't help but jump in. This game is pulling me in so many different directions and they're all so good. I'm at the start of Chapter 6 and the main story is utterly enthralling (god, the voice on that Awano guy!), but the Sub Stories have been such goofy fun, too (another cameo from our ol' pal
Ryuji
!), and now I just want to buy the entirety of Kamurocho and rule it with an iron fist.

Dont forget about epic rc car battles and shaking your sweet booty at a disco and of course
BREAKING ZA LAAAAAAAAAAAAAW
BREAKING ZA WAAAAAAAAAAALD

Halfway through chapter 6, 42 hours in, and completed all sub stories up until this point. Befriended everyone. Completed the RC challenges, as well as the real estate challenge.

Next up is spend all of this money on upgrades for Kiyuu, find all phone cards, complete the high scores for karaoke and dancing, and beat Mr Shakedown for once.

But for now, I need sleep.

I think it's good that I ended up taking a short trip away after finishing the real estate storyline along with chapter 6. I'll come back refreshed and ready to have the cabaret consume my life. Also, I can't seem to stay out of this thread :(

IIRC, there's three colors of bikini: Light blue, white and green I guess.

Each color has 2 different woman's and one third that dumps you. Try going by the color of bikini and a bit of luck you should get the 7 substories (2 woman x 3 colors = 6 substories. the fail counts as one substory too).

If you can do it, you can differentiate them by the voice. Honestly, I study japanese and was even hard for me to get the tone and way of speaking right.

Oh God, don't even get me started on the Disco. I stayed in Maharaja for probably two hours refusing to admit to defeat to Ogita until he was finally destroyed. And I spent over 20 million yen on Black Market RC parts lmao.

This game is a wonderful playground under a japanese mafia disguise.

If it makes you feel better I got her like 6 times also when I was going for the other storylines...the voice difference between the three women is minimal. Also they say the same damn lines. The minigame is somewhat flawed. idk if it returns in other iterations but it should have been tweaked.
