Yakuza 0 |OT| Yes, you can start with this one!

Just ordered this and looking forward to starting it when it arrives. One thing though, on the Giant Bomb endurance run that is ongoing, they mentioned there was porn in this... Is there? Surprised there hasn't been more fuss made, unless it's the real tame swimsuit kind of stuff.

There's lots of girls that are real japanese porn actress in it, but they're either NPC that aren't porn actress in the game, or just video of them in swimsuit, so yeah pretty tame

Very, very softcore. Bikini girls holding balloons or in baths posing. Not really porn unless maybe you're a Puritan.

Most people don't look like Riki Takeuchi enough to pull it off.

This guy has to be the actual face model.

72 hours in, still in chapter 7. Finished like >80% of substories already though :)) Most of them are just reaallly good.

The Pocket Racer saga is good enough as a standalone Mini 4WD game if they made the stat effect clearer :/

What's the best time to use the Fever Bar? I always save one bar for when there's unavoidable angry/unhappy customer, but maybe there's a more effective use of it?

Are there any tells or anything that indicate if you will be successful to extend a cabaret session?

From my personal experience (still few, sadly):
1. Poor customers is hard to extend, but I thiiink I've got extension a few times with Platinum Hostesses.
2. I always fail to get extension if I changed the hostess mid-session.

Forgot to post that I beat the game the other day! Did not do all the sidequests though. However I do play these games for their unique story and beat em up goodness.

Holy shit at so many characters looking like their actors!

Honestly I know how you feel, to me he's such a great character that no one else can replace. I mean I'm open to play other characters but Kiryu's charm and coolness is why his one of my favourite characters in any media, not just video games.
Yes, I think Kiryu is my favorite fictional character ever. I just wish
he got with Mayumi. I was told she doesn't appear after Kiryu's first part in Yakuza 5, and she doesn't appear in Yakuza 6...
So I'm really bummed about that too. I kinda wish Kiryu was the Javier Pena type who was just a ladies man and gets em all, just coz they fall for him.

With that said I kind of want a new IP from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio now more than another Yakuza game haha.
now THAT is an idea I can get behind. In the mean time though, they need to make sure Kiryu is in the PlaySation-Smash reboot if there ever fucking is one

I honestly don't know which is better, that or the fight with Lee early on in the game, he may use the generic boss theme, but that boss theme is one hell of a good theme. The best part is the cutscenes suddenly become 60fps so you know a great splash screen is coming up.

I agree with you. There have been a lot of cool boss fights and a lot of cool intros but the music + plus the setting+ plus the entire situation is just insanely hype.

Though the Yakuza 3 final boss is great too, but it's a combination of the build up to that point, what you had to go through to get there and the fact that the music used is the "theme" of the game. YAKUZA 3 SPOILERShttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ti8tKjuByo

A perfect one would've been if they hit the splash when
Kiryu wrecks Kuze's face after he sees what they've done to Tachibana. They already had the slow-mo happening there as his glasses flew off. In general I just kinda love Kuze. He's certainly an asshole, but his persistence is admirable.

Its just girls in skimpy outfits playing with balloons and wrestling. Its really tame.

There's lots of girls that are real japanese porn actress in it, but they're either NPC that aren't porn actress in the game, or just video of them in swimsuit, so yeah pretty tame

Thought that would be the case. Thanks.

Was going through the soundtrack, and I was amazed I never encountered this great tune before. Then I realised it probably played in the awful JCC tournament where you can never win and have no control.

This game needs an in-game Walkman. I'd love to hear this while beating up fools in post-game.

Because Sega didn't want to license the music track for English regions. Just like for Yakuza 5, and 4 and 3...

I've heard from multiple people (including you) that the song used in Yakuza 6 is kinda crucial to a lot of the "emotional" scenes in the game.

I REALLY hope they don't repeat this for that game :(

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

EDIT: It'd cost too much to license it for the international version, especially considering how poorly it sells in the west. Probably cheaper to make some new music, which is exactly what they did. At least it was done in-house.

It's actually not THAT bad, it kinda grew on me.

Licensing issues I'd imagine.

Oh, and the ED is also cut from the game where it's replaced by a somber piano melody that IMO fits the ending better.

i don't really understand that though, this is the same exact game over here except with English subtitles, they already licensed it, why would they have to do it twice?

Any trick to catching Salmon and and Eel? Have the best rod and quality bait but no luck.

Eel are the long ..... Eel shaped ones and Salmon are the big fish.

You can usually get Salmon from the Big fish that keep swimming left and right in the dead center of the river. It's still RNG based sadly, so keep at it. (it might also be based on Time of Day, though I'm not a 100% on that)

From https://michibiku.com/interview-localizing-yakuza-scott-strichart/

Was there anything that was difficult to bring over from a licensing perspective?

You may have caught a lot of the conversation about the two songs from a band called Shonan no Kaze that did not make it over to our version, and that’s not censored content, that’s a licensing issue.

And I can’t really speak to the business part of it, but I will say that the way that licensing music is structured in Japan can be so prohibitive that, if it’s going to hurt a project’s feasibility for localization, of course, of course we have to cut the music. You know? I’d rather bring a game over to the States than say “sorry, we couldn’t bring that over because there was a music licensing issue.”

Finally got Riichi Ippatsu in Mahjong, after spending far too much time trying to get it during pretty much the whole weekend. By far the hardest CP in the game IMO.

Now I only have the West Park betting and a few telephone cards left, and then I have 100% and can allow myself to proceed with the main story and finish it. So far I've played about 119 hours and collecting the CPs probably added like 50 hours, if not more. I seriously think this will be the last Yakuza game where I go for 100% and "beat" all the minigames, I'm getting rather tired of doing it.

Yeah, I was able to catch an eel earlier with Kazama but now I can't get one in Chapter 7 (Twilight time of day) with Majima. Maybe it is time of day related.

I can't believe you did it for other games of the series too. lol. Having played Yakuza 0 only, I could never go into a game like it planning on such.

I remember catching both during the daytime. Hope it works out!

Also unrelated, but I vaguely remember someone asking for a gif of Majima dancing in that substory with
the statue
.

Here it is. Just remove the "v" at the end of the URL to turn into a gif rather than a webm.

Yakuza 0 was the hardest I tried for the platinum but nope, just can't do it.

Forturnately I can live with that but some people are not so lucky :(

Wait, did I miss Pocket Circuit somehow? I'm in Ch 8 but have been trying to stick to the main story and some substories.

I made the same mistake you did lol. Go to the upper-left corner of the map, right next to the Children's park. The woman will automatically start talking to you when you're close to the entrance.

Gonna be done with Nioh today, so I need something until Nier releases. Is Yakuza 0 managable until the 10th of March? And how is the game? Never played a Yakuza before but I love Japanese games if they don't go full Anime.

It is manageable, but that depends on you too.

Some people never leave Kamurocho haha

Yeah, summed up my main problem perfectly, with 0 I knew I'd be back to carry on the story, whereas with 4 I can't even remember what happened with Akiyama, besides liking his character. Do they handle it better in 5, or is it worse.

Y5 is worse story wise because it's the same structure and each character has even more content. So people do forget the storyline, which in Y5 is very convoluted. Still not a bad game, but when put against others in the same series it falls short on the main story aspect.

Been taking my sweet time. Finished up Chapter 4 this weekend. Holy shit. What a finish.

On chapter 6. I discovered my love for the beast fighting style. Just found out I can pick up downed opponents and the various heats associated with using their body as a weapon.

Is there a crafting guide online so I can determine what materials I am missing for some of these items?

Once you find a material, the required amount start showing up in the crafting lists.

Credits to Endless-Bravado for the link:

https://translate.google.com/transl...http://spwiki.net/ryuzero/&edit-text=&act=url

Search for the word "database" and in that section, click/tap on materials. Alternatively, for a list of weapons and how to craft, just click on the required category which is also under Database.

Yeah, I'll be very interested to see how they handle those scenes in 6 if they do replace the music...

It's so easy to lose track of yourself with side missions.

What? No. What?

Really?

WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING WITH MY LIFE ALL THIS TIME

My favorite thing I did with it was in the
second Kuze
boss fight in chapter 6 I could continuously chain throw him while he was knocked down like some sort of loony toon, lol.

Are there any guides on how to kinda min/max the real estate and cabaret jobs? I'd like to put in as little time as possible, but still get a ton of money. I only have so much free time and would rather focus on side missions and main story.

Hi guys,
Is the english hard to understand for a non-native speaker like me ? I played Persona 4 and understood it well, I just had to googlize some words.

The english is fairly basic, nothing too difficult. Most of the dialogue scenes that might be a bit tough to understand are "press X to advance" dialogue so you can take your time to look things up if you're struggling.

EDIT: Just saw your edit, yeah you should be fine.

this is going to sound so stupid but in cabaret/real estate rankings do the shapes go like this? double O > O > triangle > X
I notice sometimes my triangle guys do better than my O guys on ivestments but sometimes it's the other way around.

For folks wondering or impressed by the facial modeling. Here's a comparison of ingame and their actors. Everyone except Keiji Fujiwara were actually modeled, although you can tell they based Nishitani off of him regardless.

Without a doubt the best realistic facial modeling for asians in the industry. And it gets even better in 6.

So, watching the latest Beast in the East and there's
a school girl selling her used underwear
!

What have I gotten myself into and why is Japan so fucking fucked?
