Yakuza 5 |OT| Rage Your Dreams

I don't know how other people have their consoles set up, but at least for me switching out the PS4 and PS3 couldn't be easier. Unplug the power adapter and HDMI cable from the PS4, put the PS4 under my TV stand, take out the PS3, plug the adapter and cable into the PS3, voila.

I have both plugged on a receiver since it has like 6 HDMI ports, so is just a button press :D

I love Yakuza but I don't know if I want to get this. I don't even have a PS3 hooked up anymore. Gwagh.

Did you play Yakuza 4? Having just beat Y5 last night personally I would put Y5 on par with it. This is a really good game for the most part, with a few warts.

Yeah same for me. Takes me 10 seconds to switch from PS4 to PS3 or vice versa.

Seems that I will start with Yakuza 3.

Already have 4 physical and 5 digital but I thought that I should start with 3.
Well in reality I started with Yakuza 1 but after the announcement of the remake I decided to jump on to the PS3 games.

Yakuza 4 is a top PS3 game for me. But I feel like it's been so long I might forget everything! I could just wait for Yak0!

Hah that's even better; play Yakuza 5 to remind yourself of how to play the series again.
Stop giving us excuses Y2Kev, get off your bum, hook u dat PS3 have Y5 download and then come back and tell us of how you shed manly tears after you finished off street punks with Heat Actions.

But it's weird-- it's forcing me to use a gift card first and won't let me use my Amazon Rewards points?

What's the best way to make money with Saejima?, I am always cash strapped with him.

Wait till all the end when you can acess all characters with all money and items pool. Use all items you got and abuse and cheat in casino. Make tons of money.

Save. Send 5millions to the orphanage as kiryu. Get trophy. Load save. Go on spending spree and let it rain on hostesses.

If you want to complete all hostesses quests you'll need a fuck ton of money

I made a lot of money with him through hunting. By the time I finished his part I had like 600,000 yen.

Yeah. If you kill enough bears and golden deer you'll be rolling in cash. I didn't even farm intentionally and I had over 1 million yen as him doing the sidestory before I even left the mountain.

Get ready for daddy daycare: the video game.

I actually enjoyed the Okinawa segments though.

Finally got to Akiyama's part :D I love his fighting style.

Btw, do you recommend purchasing Yakuza 3 after finishing 5? I watched the summaries in 4, but never got to play it.

Watching HyperbitHero's video right now.
When making the thread I'll link to the initial thread/video you made for the Yakuza series and for this video will direct mainly to the part where you showcase the combat which IMHO is what may interest the average PS4GAFfer.

While one may feel 'spoiled' by the description of the story at the start, I don't think it'll affect my enjoyment of it.
If anything it would've been better off just stating that Majima is in Osaka for reason X, while Kiryu is in Kamurocho for Reason B without going into much detail. I find that learning about the
Blind woman wold've been a lot better to find out when playing the game because it looks like it'll be a very good and interesting relationship/dymanic between the 2

I'll post more impressions later :3

The reason I included that is because it's like the first thing that happens in the game
and it is far from that simple.
But it was also featured completely in trailers for the game and the intro of the game. I basically said the same thing about the plot that I did in my video I made months before the game came out, so since I already knew this much back then from the trailers and even after beating it didn't feel it was spoiling the game, you're safe. I wouldn't have included that if it was too much information.

With Kiryu i saw one
there was a man stealing a girl's bag. I think that it was on the same street were the door to Komaki's area is, but closer to the middle of the map

Hmmm...are there different revelation setups?
Because the one I got for Kiryu definitely wasn't of a guy trying to steal a woman's bag. It was a guy that's trying to kidnap her because he's stalking her. You first meet both of them (well, the guy anyway as you don't see the girl initially) in one of the side quests where you have to let the taxi carrying the girl get away without the guy realizing that's what you're doing.

Do you guys know where Kiryu's Revelations is? How many are there for each character?

Each character has
only one revelation this time around

Kiryu's is on
Modan St you'll see the pervert guy pulling at the girl

Saejima is
the main St of the public park near the snowman

Haruka is
on Iwao bridge, Pat went to this bridge

Akiyama is
going down the Bunzaemon Path, at the food stall guy

And Shinada is at
is right at the batting center with a guy named Pedro, can't miss him

Maybe I'm mistaken, at the end the girl got into a taxi and "funny stuff" happened?

Okay thank you. Kinda dissappointed there's less revelations in this game.

So speaking of the revelations stuff, I just met Mack, and then when I dropped him off a guy ran up to me asking me to follow another taxi

The mission says to lose the other taxi without raising suspicion, but I stopped at a red light immediately and the other car drove off. It said I failed and the guy acted like he knew i did it on purpose.

Then a fat taxi guy came up and thanked me cuz he was the taxi I was following. I got 1200 exp and thats it really

Did I do that right? Did I mess up trying to lose the taxi by being too obvious? Was there something else to be done there?

That's it. Finishing that sidequest unlocks Kiryu's revelation, near where it started.

I did the same thing and the revelation followed soon after. Not sure what happens if you don't lose the other taxi

Welp.
Picked a ton of locker keys with Hakura. Opened the lockers. Got sacred ash and some other stuff. Thought that "eh, i'll probably be able to pass these on to the shop or to akiyama".

About that...

sigh, why in blazes were flaws like this still present in a game released in 2012?

either that or there's a way and i haven't found it. Is what i get for completely missing the warning message.
