Grats Defender.
G4 has just posted their 15 Minute Walkthrough for Yakuza: Dead Souls. I did the playing + VO for this, so hopefully it proves useful if you want to introduce someone to the game or are still waiting to pick up your own copy.
Difficulty was on Dead Souls mode (the hardest possible), so no complaining when I take a a few hits! ; )

It's extra. Nothing's stopping you from going to the karaoke bar as Majima. I think it's just an extra song. That's how Y4 was

i know i got a few trailers, and like 10 PS2 memory cards but most of the space has to be disc installs. fuck that last Heavy Rain one, i don't even have Move!

Got Dead Souls today. Shooting controls feel very off. Especially after finishing Binary Domain. But strafing works just fine and the game auto aims for you when not in manual mode.
Ruby, is there any way Sega can make a patch to put manual aiming controls on the right stick? That would help a lot.
Also, how does the length of this game fare compared to previous Yakuza games?

does difficulty affect the speed of the heat snipes? i'm on hard, and hope everytime the framerate is shit or else I usually don't have a chance.

Kinda wished I started on hard. so far, this is the easiest zombie game I've ever played.

So what is the scope on this game? Exclusively one city like Yakuza 4? Same production values as Yakuza 3 / 4 or is it a cheaper affair? I will pick it up down the road for sure - just curious.
I wonder if Yakuza 5 will maybe not come out a year after release given that they are actually caught up now (due to BD).

it's got it's hooks in me now... i played for about 6 hours yesterday, and plan on doing the same tonight. there is such an overwhelming about of shit to do as always
it's a great yakuza game, i'd consider this a celebration of the franchise if anything. the 2nd character will make anyone laugh and feel like a badass.
really digging the soundtrack too, a lot of variation
a must have! any on the fence people can have their minds eased. tons of gameplay, the story is awesome as always with the stinky stylized cheese and it's literally impossible not to love all yakuza main characters.

Can't recall if there's Hibiki in the game, but a Hibiki 12 would be good to go along with it. Or a Yamazaki 18 (the 12 is meh).

can you sell all the cutie girl figures? i didn't want to sell them just yet even though they seem to be only for that purpose.
i needed money so i went to the casino, bought 150 chips, and turned it into 3,000 playing poker. then i turned that into 12,000 betting on the tie (8-1) in baccarat.
i bought a few platinum plates for 1,500 chips and sold them for 150,000 a pop. good for some quick cash.
eventually i'll use baccarat to break the economy and get the 10,000,000 trophy, but i don't want to make it too easy just yet.

I figured the action figure stuff provided a different use other than a quick buck. I guess it doesn't? For some reason, I expected there to be some nerdy action figure collector who would take them off your hands in exchange for rare items. I guess Kamiyama is the only nerd in Kamurocho? =D
I still haven't moved passed Part 1 Chapter 3. I keep getting distracted by shit, as per usual when playing a Yakuza title. I was really curious to see how ridiculous the mini game challenge requirements were going to be in this game so I've been checking out all of them. While it seems like they reduced the amount of challenges associated with mini games, the challenges themselves are tied to the hardest tier/challenge possible for said mini game. For Mahjong, you need to WIN on the Top Player Board. The Darts, for example, only require you to beat the Advanced tiers of each game type. So, it may appear to be easier, but it's essentially asking you to pull off the same crazy shit you've done in previous titles if you want that in game 100% completion.
Anyway, enjoying the game immensely. The Yakuza formula just scratches all the right gamey itches that I require. It's like comfort gaming for me at this point, hah!

As others will probably tell you, the controls will start to feel a lot more natural as you progress. Feel free to also swap between Type A and B to see which is a better default layout for you. (This isn't right stick based, but does adjust the trigger and button use.)

Yes, it does. You need ninja-like reflexes to pull off the heat snipes in Dead Souls mode. (Ninja-like reflexes I apparently really need to improve!)

Just started this fantasticness, been sitting around on Akiyama ch4 doing side stories and random stuff. I'm wondering at this point, how important are the abilities that you get from the boot camp? The last thing I want to do is waste my time when I could be moving forward towards Majima badassery.
One of the main reasons this is my 2nd favorite franchise of all time... the OST.

Haha, yeah I beat the Japanese one! I think my favorite Yakuza game is either Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 or Ryu Ga Gotoku: Shinshou.
