Zelda Exposed (1UP) -- cool feature

Why does anyone need to buy the magazine with most of the feature online?

What happaned to the E3 embargo? (Well, what happened AFTER Spanish-magazine-gate)

Why is Minagawa's name spelt wrong?

What is going on?

(Secretly jealous of course. Fucking awesome feature and great read).

Also, you fanboys will NEED to check out the new EDGE and IMPORT IT AT ALL COSTS since I am told the Zelda cover and coverage inside is MIND BLOWING. And frankly, probably better than EGM's. ;-)

LOL @ "Tom's Beard"

I'm convinced Miyamoto just dosent even bother showing up to work anymore. He just sits back and takes credit for anything EAD does. I would have been ready to beat him had I been Aounuma when he found out Miyamoto decided to present Zelda without his knowledge. I love his excuse of "I forgot."

Well, none of the most important interview bits or any of the pics are up online. ...if you don't count scans.

Still active. This was worked out with Nintendo as part of EGM's cover story.

That would be my bad.

Thanks. :) I'm looking forward to checking out Edge's coverage.

Re: Miyamoto, he was there, and he showed me the Revolution. I can't say much cause of NDA's but there's a blurb about it on my blog mark.1up.com

To be honest, I was a little surprised at the Miyamoto story too. From what I've heard about his schedule, though, especially leading into E3, I can believe it.

Mark-
I'm not sure how much you're able to say, but I'd really like to know if this Zelda has the charm and personality of Wind Waker or at least something up to par.
And is the world as alive? Everything in Wind Waker blew in and reacted to the Wind and the entire world was so interactive... so tangible. Is that still there?

Not to be wishy-washy but it's hard to say at this point...Aonuma went through the town pretty fast on his way to the practice scarecrow. HOWEVER, even in that short time I did notice a few nice touches like birds flying out of the tall grass as you approached, cats going after chickens when they wandered too close, etc. I didn't notice wind effects as much as WW but Aonuma seemed to imply they would be back, maybe even expanded.

One funny thing--Aonuma already was doing the roll move over and over to get places faster, just like most of us do in the final games. :)

That is pretty funny. You would think they could just make Link run a little faster. :lol

It's nice to hear there is still a lot of life in the town. :)
Some of my fears have been calmed.

Would you say the game looks much better in motion then what the screenshots seem to imply?
go watch a video for yourself... Yes i know you mean the village area, but chances are pretty big for "yes", considering most Nintendo games look far better in motion anyway.

Great stuff, Mark you always have been one of my favorite EGM editors.

Anyway two things:

1.) How can Nintendo games be so bright and colorful but there HQ so boring? :D

2.) Zelda is really gonna be amazing. I like the fact Nintendo is giving us two totally separate style Zelda games.

Tall, cuttable grass?

jacknicholson_fewgoodmen_01.jpg

Is there any other kind?

I don't think the bushes (which are being confused for grass) are the problem but rather the terrible ground textures (N64 quality.) The game looks like a mix of beautiful and really ugly. It's weird... it amazes me in some ways (the scenes of the sun or swimming) but also disappoints me (the ground, horse, enemies.)

Good question. I was assume yes, but I can't say for sure. Lots of little pumpkins and pots around to smash for hearts and rupees tho, so I wouldn't worry too much.

As for the game looking better in motion, I really don't see whatever people are complaining about in the still shots so I dunno. Like I say in the EGM feature and on 1up, the boss fight hills were definitely sparse, and the ground looked a bit blurry if I stopped and looked at it, but it didn't bother me much with all the shit that was going on as I played the game.

Short version: I still have questions about the next Zelda, but visual quality is not among them.

Anyone would be foolish to think that the new Zelda would miss anything out that was in WW.

The new Zelda uses the same engine so things like tall grass, sailing, grapple hook etc. are already programed for the game, therefore it will be relatively (sp?) easy for Nintendo to put these features in there.

The scan's/pics also look very early and lack polish but Nintendo has time to tune these things up.

Am I the only one who remembers an old Next Generation magazine coverage of the Nintendo Kyoto studio and it looked totally different? It had, ya know, Life.

I think that Nintendo built a new building recently, within the last few years. Maybe that was the old place?

Awesome coverage and I bought and read the mag yesterday. But, my expectation for this game is becoming something tangible something you can taste like bile in the back of your throat. It's unpleasant. But, the cure will be unparalelled ecstacy.

Yeah because Nintendo moved to the new building around early 2000. The old one is now house of Intelligent Systems or something that's also shared with the Pokemon company/ GameFreak?

Oh ok that makes sense. The difference is staggering the new building looks like something right out of THX.

BTW, any pics of Nintendo's old hq?

No, but I did see it my first time in Kyoto about 10 years back...there must be some on the net somewhere....

I guess this is the -old- old office....

So they didn't give you time to aimlessly wander in Zelda? That's not very cool of them.
I hope people take the time to do this at E3 and I hope they record it.
