Um... speaking of VA btw. Am I the only one here who plays the game with Japanese VA? I've seen people mention online that English VA is not the best in these Chinese F2P gacha games, so I didn't even bother to play with English VA. In general, I think Japanese VA is always better cuz it's a lot more emotional, expressive and just better overall, but I get that some people might not like to read subs:messenger_relieved:

I think Zenless is pretty good in English.

Honkai Star Rail, ain’t no way I’m ever switching off English. Almost everyone sounds awesome. Heck, I might have skipped Boothill, as good a character as he is, but the English VA makes him awesome, actually making G-rated profanity (IIRC due to someone messing with his alien language translation device) sound cool.

“This is some fudgin’ nice weather we’re having. Wonder which little son of a nice lady is gonna run out of luck today.”
“That’s the forkin’ spirit!”
“Fudge me sideways, you’re finally here, brother!”
“Bring it on, forker!”
“Dangerous? Well, fudge. Dangerous for who?!”
”Here, I’ll give you a chance. Aim here…..just kidding, fudgehead.”

Like, it should be so cringe, but the VA hits it with such enthusiasm he became one of my favorite new characters in Penacony. I think only Sparkle and Acheron would be higher for me.

Doom85 Doom85 well okay then, I'll try to play with game English VA after 1.1 update this week.

Hey, I was just saying my personal preferences. No need to switch and then be like, “hey yo, this is shit! You fucking liar!”

Nah, I know you wouldn’t be like that, it’s just some English dub haters out there go real hostile with their preference. I understand if people prefer Japanese, I just find it easier to connect with characters when I can understand them through the spoken lines without reading, though I have no issue with subs (and for live-action, I will avoid dubs at all costs as I am never convinced by the lip syncing).

✋:messenger_tears_of_joy:

I should've mentioned that I actually watch a lot of 80 and 90s anime with English dubs (as well as Russian VO - we have really good VO and dub groups here), I like them and they aren't bad a all. It's just that.... well, you can't really match Japanese actors in terms of the way they act, how emotional and expressive they are 100% of time to the point that you can tell how they feel and see the emotions on their face by just hearing the voices, and if the game also has excellent facial animations like in Yakuza games for example... It's just pure gold.

It's almost impossible for any other and none Japanese actor to match such level of quality, but at the same time you can't blame English (for example) actors cuz they're doing the best they can while trying to match something they can't match, and you can always tell when they're trying really hard, not fuckin' around just to get paycheck and I respect that a lot.

So yeah, I'm not an English dub hater when it comes to all things Japanese (or Chinese for that matter):messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

Though this did come to haunt them when it came to the anime Black Clover. There’s emotive, and then there’s THIS.

Mind you, this is all from episode 1.

He did get better eventually, but I know plenty of sub-only people who went dub for BC pretty quickly after experiencing this.

While not as bad, I remember for Soul Eater they had a relative newcomer for the Japanese VA for Maka and while not bad you could tell she wasn’t on par with everyone else.

I’ll say another I could never go sub for Baccano! Not only is it one of the best dubs FUNimation ever did, but the accents just add to the flavor of the setting which would be non-existent in the Japanese version.

I do think Japanese VAs do generally get put on a bit too high a pedestal sometimes by some fans. Like, with Re:Zero, while the English dub was really good, the Japanese version was better, BUT that was due to the Japanese VAs for Subaru and Rem. The other Japanese VAs were good, but you could tell those two were the ones truly giving it their all. If anything, I think it’s bad form to just see all Japanese VAs as automatically amazing as it can unintentionally downplay the performances that truly stand out. Not that I’m not calling anyone specifically bad, but I just don’t agree that English or any other language VAs (I hear some Spanish anime dubs go pretty hard) can match any Japanese voices as the latter aren’t giving amazing performances for every single show, that’s just not feasible, you are going to have some people more talented or better at portraying a character than others.

Also, there have been times when some of the Japanese directors and such have preferred or at least given the English dub very high praise. I know Hayao Miyazaki said the English voice actresses for Howl’s Moving Castle better understood what he was wanting the female characters to behave like more than the Japanese VAs did. The producer of My Hero Academia said Chris Sabat was perfect as All Might. The director of Revolutionary Girl Utena was so fond of Utena’s English performance that he “named” his car after the actress.

Well, in my case I sometimes don't even have a choice so it's either Japanese with subs, English dub or Russian VO. But yeah, there's some good if not great English dubs out there for sure.

Back to games though. Based on the games I've played which are made in Japan, Japanese VA is always better unless it's MGS series for example and I haven't played other Japanese games from 2000s with great English VA, so based on that experience and after eating shit for so long, I tend to always play with the Japanese VA when there's an option, there's exceptions of course like Resident Evil series and such but almost nothing else beyond that.

Unless the game takes place in japan or is filled with japanese names, I generally use EN VO because I can't stand "engrish", I also understand some basic japanese and the VA's aren't always great, they tend to lean towards just doing archetypes instead of actual character work.

English all the way. Can't stand Japanese voice for games with young women/men like this. Hurts my ears. Something like Ghost of Tsushima is fine though.

I love the MVs that HoYo is doing for each limited character. I guess I should be thanking Genshin and HSR whales for that.
Reset countless times, my memory's long gone.
When did this all start? And where will it lead?
This world knows only cruelty,
In this life,
Will I find loyalty?

On the news of 1.1. update. It looks like they'll be doing something to the New Eridu City Fund battle pass with new rewards and such, so my only guess here is that they'll be either extending the existing one by 50 lvls, or reset the progress of the current one and add new rewards with the same lvl 50 cap. Either way, I think they'll ask us to pay again for none-F2P rewards of this battle pass. Plus there'll be new shop bundles.

P.S. Asked a mod to help me out with organizing OT better, so if all will be going according to plan, everyone (incl. new players) will be able to see what miHoYo added, improved etc. with each new update and make an informed decision whether they want to jump in or not :messenger_relieved:

I'm excited to roll for my square peg (Qingyi) and make her fit in a round hole (electric dps role). Been farming some damage focused discs for her and I got "lucky" in getting 2 S rank stun class orb things from the standard gacha, so one of those is going to her too. It looks like her damage scales up based on stun damage with one of her passives, so I think I can make it work.

The worst part is that to get her party buff, you need another attacker in the team, which again brings up the problem that I don't have a good Electric attacker. They seem to want you to use her only in the Pubsec team with the party buff, which sucks. HoYo is famous for limiting characters effectiveness outside of the specific scenario they want you to use them in, so they can sell you more characters later for a different niche.

Can someone tell me what to press in those menus? Does every character has like a 8% chance to get picked?

I think you gonna have a very hard time making Qingyi into a damage dealer, her DPS is very low, and as a stunner she stuns the enemies faster that will trigger the chain assist for other character.
You can use any attacker to get her buff, dont need to be pubsec or electric. Thats the good thing about her is that she can be used as a stunner in any team that has an attacker. The same way Zhu can be used in any team that has a Support.

The main thing you need to know is the Polychromes is the premium currency in this game, and this is the currency you want to save and only use in the limited banner.

You can watch this video that explain how the gacha system works in ZZZ.

That's what I've been trying to say, you can't turn a Stun character into a high DPS one.

Oh, you guys, I'm curious what y'all IK level is after a month and a half since release? I just hit level 49 today and I think it's impossible to get to lvl 60 unless you're a giant whale cuz there's not enough free batteries to make you grind EXP and there's no other way to grind EXP and gain 10 lvls.

How on earth have you managed to do that with lvl 50 characters?:messenger_hushed:

I've most characters and their W-Engine at lvl 50, 70% of discs at lvl 15 and I can't beat the first node with S rank (A rank max), 2nd and 3rd is B, even though my characters are always at max HP and I'm activating stuns, triggering anomaly status effects, chain attacks etc. left and right constantly.

Agent_4Seven Agent_4Seven I'm proxy level 49 as well. I also don't really care when I get to 60 since I'm in no rush to get there.
Well, all I care about is rewards after gaining each level and there's no way to rush it unless you sell your kidney:messenger_tears_of_joy:

Idk, maybe I'm just that good at action games? :p

Joking aside, I just followed prydwen's builds for each one of my agents. Other than that I have C6 Nicole and Soukaku. Good discs on Ellen, Zhu, Nicole, Grace, decent ones on Soukaku, and mid ones on Koleda.

Idk why would you rush though as the rewards are not that significant anyway. There's ofc IK lvl 50 where you'll level up your proxy status to legendary which unlocks lvl 60 for your agents, and also better material drops in training. Other than that, I don't see any real incentive to 'rush' once you hit IK lvl 50. Remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint, and I personally like it this way.

Oh, I've no intention to rush anything, I only care about the rewards and stuff you can't get in any other way than spending a fortune. Moreover, I think after the launch of Space Marine 2 and potentially Black Myth, ZZZ will be only about dalies for me until I'm done with these two games, cuz I know that ZZZs SP story stuff will not go away and I can go back to it later with lots of collected resources, money etc.:messenger_relieved:

I haven’t tried SD again since last time, just really taking my time with the game. For whatever reason I find it much harder to motivate myself to
Build characters in this game compared to Genshin or Star Rail. Dunno, seems more like pulling teeth in ZZZ, less mats given, more energy cost, 6 slots to fill compared to 4 or 5, just all adds up to be a bigger hassle and makes me not care as much. Still getting it done, but taking my time with it.
Figure it will be ok as I’m not pulling for a patch at least, so I have time.

Can't be worse than Anby which I'm using in that role now. It's not a permanent thing, but I just need something to help with the Shock/Electric stages until they release a proper S rank Electric DPS (that I like). When I'm ready to switch her to a primarily Stun (read: proper) role, I'll just farm some new disks for her, no biggie.

You dont really need to a have a certain elemental team. As long your team is good with a good DPS you can clean everething with S rank. I cleared all the Story hard mode, and combat stages with S rank just using my Ellen team (Ice) including in stages where the bosses had Ice resistance.

Most important is building a team with good synergy. In the end game content it might make a diference exploring the enemies weakneses, but if you are not using a proper DPS character then the elemental weakness is not gonna make much of a diference.

This is bad advice though. Some enemy types straight up resist certain types of damage (grey damage). Some enemies, such as the electro weak ones, have shields that get shredded if you can apply Shock to them.

Can you steamroll with a maxed out gacha account and grind-heavy perfect substat farming? Yea. But that's a shitty way to play in my opinion. I'd rather engage in the mechanics than brute force through $$$ or grinding the same shit over and over.

Despite this bothering you for some reason, I'm still gonna try to make a dps Qingyi work. If it doesn't, it doesn't, but I'm going to try.

Im 100% F2P The content is just not that hard that require dedicated elemental teams to exploit enemy weaknesses.

And it dosent bother me the way you play your game, im just trying to give you an advice so you dont waste resorces and then not get the results.

100% agree about the "not that hard" part, that's why I wanna try to make DPS Qingyi work to begin with. Like I said, if it doesn't work and I'm just mashing my head against it for no reason, I'll concede and just build her as a proper Stunner, but there's nothing to lose from trying. And I do get what you're saying and agree that it's possible. I personally went back and did a few hard mode stages with "electric" typing suggested with my Zhu Yuan team, and crushed it, but I always like having a wide pool of viable characters for different situations instead of focusing on one powerhouse team, in most games. Min/max stuff is so antithetical to the way I like to enjoy games, but I realize that's just a me thing.
And it dosent bother me the way you play your game, im just trying to give you an advice so you dont waste resorces and then not get the results.
I look at gacha games like this as a slow burn instead of a constant race. Pretty much any character that's currently in the game right now will be powercrept 3x over by the time the game has its second anniversary, so I'd rather just chill and do what I wanna do than try to keep up with the Joneses on this or that meta team.

"DPS" qingyi could work, my anby does a lot of damage because I stacked attack and energy regen on her, soukaku as I mentioned before here also does a ton of damage because her ultimate dmg multiplier is outrageous and she was relatively easy to C6. Both of these are a ranks so qingyi could perform quite a bit better, I suspect pairing her with soukaku and rina would be pretty strong.

The only thing that sucks is Qingyi's party buffs are for pairing her with Pubsec OR an Attacker. Most characters are (faction) or (element), which is a trend that she bucks (unfortunately). Not that party buffs are everything, but yea.

Also agree about Soukaku, she's an absolute beast if you learn to play her. She's got some great DPS potential when she's iced up.

*edit*

Anybody else getting absolute ass download speeds for the update? I'm hovering between 300-500kb/s

Yea I already have her to 40 with maxed skills, a lv40 orb thing, and decent disks, she's really strong. I love the new manual activation of assists too. Gonna take a while for me to get used to the timing, but it's nice.

She's not putting out Zhu Yuan tier damage, but holy shit what an upgrade over Anby for my electric team. Super easy to apply shock, too. Very pleased with her so far.

Seth is an Agent who can provide Attribute Anomaly and survivability buffs to squadmates. By unleashing his EX Special Attack, Seth can build up [Resolve] and gain [Shield of Firm Resolve]. Once [Resolve] exceeds a certain amount, hold Basic Attack to consume [Resolve] and launch [Basic Attack: Lightning Strike - Electrified]. His Finishing Move will launch against enemies after performing continuous attacks.
