Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward |OT| -- More Hours, More Persons, More Doors

Ohhh, you're at that part.
Remember how one of the foils made shapes and the orientation of those shapes? think of those shapes while putting the numbers on the poster together.

I did. :( The order according to the wall is 1689. I keep entering it (1+0, 3+3, 6+2, 6+3) but the locker just will not open. :T

I really like this game so far, but one thing I'm finding kinda weird is that although VLR seems to have more endings, all of the ones I've gotten so far have not really had much impact on me. In fact, each time I knew I was walking right into a bad ending just because it was the result of an AB game vote (and because the flowchart makes it super obvious when you're walking down a dead-end path, for the most part). I feel like I'm just checking off the list of bad endings, one by one, as I head toward the true ending. In 999, I rarely felt like any decision I was making had a direct effect, which I guess I kind of prefer. I like being surprised by the effects of my decisions. Oh well, I'm sure some of the endings will be really interesting.

The non-dead end paths are where the impactful stuff is. It's just getting there past the bad ends and to be continues.

WHY DID I NOT THINK OF THAT? Arg, thanks for making me feel dumb AGAIN, VLR. And thanks for the help. orz. Now I just need the gold file password...
The gold file password is the regular password backwards with the 6 and 9 upside down (flipped on a vert axis)... so... 9861. The regular password is the code given to you flipped on horizontal axis.

The endings where everyone died for no reason in 999 were the ones I was iffy about. Same deal here. Just got Clover's ending and Sigma comitted suicide, which was weird. And K wasn't there so it stands to reason that he's the one who killed everyone.

Finished Clover's route.
It was neat to get updates on what happened to everyone after 999. I think the only person who hasn't been mentioned at all by now is Lotus, and her daughters were presumably recruited by Alice's organization.

Kind of sudden for everyone to get infected by Radical-6 (at least, I'm guessing that's what happened); hopefully another ending can shed some light on what happened there.

It definitely wasn't for 'no reason.'

I like that
whenever anyone else gets 9 BP, they're out of there, but when I get it, I get held down or knocked out. :p

Well in 999 it was like
"Hey, a submarine! WHOOPS EVERYONE IS DEAD! Bad End"

So my memory didn't betray me. It looks like passwords are generated based on the save. I'm positive I got the same password to generate each time I attempted the PEC.

Awesome, I just got my first end.

I guess it was mainly related to Alas? Chose whatever door took her with me in the first choice, then ally. Ended with Radical-6 taking out Quirk and Alas with only enough cure for one of them. WHO WILL WE CHOOSE? TO BE CONTINUED...

Also, my watch has blue lights like I wanted it to be. Yaaaaay. Also I saved in a puzzle and it didn't ruin my save. Yaaaaay. Good results after the computer trouble I was having earlier.

Edit:
Also there better be more Zero III in this story or I'll be sad.

The PEC room is kind of poorly designed IMO

Talking to the glass to get clover to look at something you could not even interact with earlier is kind of silly, if you found one before, why not let you find another? I tried the puzzle from inside for like 20 minutes before thinking there is probably something lame going on. The shape/number lift puzzle is really lazy too, I was expecting it to be something to do with sides or angles on the shapes to correspond to numbers, but the answer is just there out in the open.

I love most of the puzzle rooms, and I feel like a fucking genius figuring some of them out, but this one has been kind of weird and boring.

I need some help with security room.
How do I erase the words in the word shuffle puzzle? The game makes it clear that I need to do it but it doesn't say how. I've tried moving them the side of screen, but nothing happens.

Edit: Never mind. I figured it out. Now I feel like an idiot

Remember how you turned on the screens? Just go and turn them off.

I screwed this up too for a while, it would have made more sense if the switches just appeared as part of the puzzle, since the main point was the solution.

So these problems with the 3DS version...they can be patched, right?
Theoretically yes I think, since other games have gotten patches before. It's just whether or not Chunsoft is willing to do anything. The problems exist in the JP version as well apparently and that's been out since Februrary

Why have we not heard of these issues until now if it's been out for months and months in JP?

...*sigh* I need help please, unless it's this super-random thing. With the archives room. Thanks.

This damned dice game. I have the Gold File password, and I got that no problem. I know how to get the regular escape password, but the dice aren't exactly working my favour. Do I just rotate them clockwise, because I'm trying to write this down and take it out of an isometric look but I'm not connecting with it properly visually. I'll just try again, I guess...

Did this game just drop a Layton reference? Man I love this game's localization.

:O, where? Spoil it in spoiler tags and I'll come back to it once I pick my copy up and finish it.
(The mailroom on base is closed on the weekends so my watches and Vita, 3DS copies are still there. ;_;)

The biggest issue with that puzzle is that you need to arrange them by color AND by number at the same time, but because color alone is the answer for the gold file, you need to make sure that the last dice you put in place is in the right position, or else you'll get the File pass instead of the Escape pass.

Pretty sure you need to just align them by color according to the bookmark.

I must be the luckiest mother fucker ever! I made it through the entire PEC room w/o a single crash! :O

Unfortunately the game didn't sell very well in Japan and I think only a couple people here imported. ;-;

That is really unfortunate, especially in a land of so many visual novels. I've gone through a number of famous ones but 999 and Ever17 are still some of my favorites. Virtue's Last Reward is really polished and a pretty big step up from 999 with how it keeps track of your paths and such.

This writer needs to keep doing stuff, because he is awesome. I love how he goes into psychological concepts and integrates them pretty well into the game.

Thank you both. :)

Something ended up clicking a little after I posted it and I got it. I was never good at this spatial stuff I guess.

In the security room golden file it talks about Gentlemen points, which determine how much of gentleman someone is. Gentlemen points are calculated by (Old ladies escorted across the street) X (tophats owned) X (puzzles solved) X (money given to gentlemen-tracking organizations)

I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Stumped in a garden...

I'm in B Garden, and I'm on the scale thing. What do I do with the coins? I have already flubbed it up twice. Also, where do I find the key for the tombstone?

Odd since I feel like I've already heard about a supposed third game in the series?
In an interview Uchikoshi basically said that 999 did much better overseas than domestically. Something like 70% of comments on their official promo vids were from outside of Japan too

I think he's developing the 3rd game with an international audience in mind

Measure them and find out the least heaviest to the most heaviest.
