My guess is that it's something like TLoU with a twist.

TLoU had pretty novel melee... first in how it was presented with the camera work and the overall convincingly animated brutality of it, but really more for the contextuality. What you see in TLoU for melee is based on your surroundings, whether you're sprinting, what you're holding, etc. Outside of the normal punches, most of the melee kills are things you just watch happen. You set up the circumstances, hit the button, and watch an animation play. Yet it still feels like you have agency, I think because of the variety of animations and the fact you were allowed to set up the conditions. So in a way it's a reward for creative thinking/use of the environment... or sometimes dumb luck.

My guess is that melee in The Order will be very much like that, context-based, but they are adding in the wrinkle of slowed-time opportunities for more contextualized player input.

In my mind, it's the only way I can see it working, realistically. And it seems pretty neat actually. Because I thought TLoU system was pretty good already.
 
I really hope the writing, voice acting and story are on par with the graphics. It would be a real shame if this turned out to be a shiny turd. Remaining optimistic though and I'm looking forward to tomorrows trailer!

Gifs look great. Animation, physics and motion blur are top notch as far as I can tell.

I was 360 only last gen. I'm PS4 only this gen. Honestly it takes stuff like Order 1886 to ease the pain of losing Halo and Gears. Hope it turns out great.

We also learn that there will be several different kinds of enemies. Players will be able to face them all with the same approach if they so wish, but it’ll be advantageous to change tactics depending on what enemies they’ll be fighting, especially in hand to hand, in order to exploit the weaknesses of each kind.

I think you have to look at this as RAD's Uncharted. The first game is about building the engine and introducing the universe. If it's a success we'll probably see multiplayer ala UC2.
 
Not going to lie, this is even more visually impressive than KZ:SF... I just hope it doesn't follow SF's lead when it comes to actual gameplay.

i mean i don't think noobsaaur is a prince but if you check his Gears post history, it is basically him ONLY talking about how rad the multiplayer is. And I don't know about that other guy and his opinion on whether this looks worse than Ryse, but guess what... PS4 exclusives haven't been that hot so far. Is that really a controversial opinion?

Can't we just critique what they're actually saying instead of plunging knee deep into this same cycle each time :P

I guess this explains why they couldn't have coop.
Same as Fallout, Bulletstorm, and GTA V. If time slows/stops at any time, you can't have more than one person playing.

I just hope it has something for longevity other than Single Player.

I would love some Coop mode / survival / other with friends. Please be so....

What's convenient for me? I cleared up what I meant in that post, which was that the multiplayer in the original gears is one of my favorite experiences of the past gen.

But people would rather just ignore that post and keep quoting my original quote in this thread linked with another post about how I think Gears of War was one of the best games of the last generation.

I know reading comprehension can be tough guys, but try and keep up.

The hand to hand fights won't look the same ever. it uses some kind of linking system combined with player reactivity

Looks beautiful. Gears of War style gameplay and Ryse style presentation. I like the cool post-processing filter in those gifs too. I hope the controls feel fluid.
 
Much like Gears of War satiated my bloodlust for gore, I truly hope The Order can deliver some high quality head explosions with sniper rifles.

I just see everyone say that, what the fuck does it mean? I can get called out and just blurt out "usual suspects blah blah" and just walk away.

I hope they managed to put some original ideas into the gameplay though. I don't mind a cover shooter but I hope it's not "by the numbers"

Max Payne 3 used quantum physics and magic to overcome this issue. You can use those Max Payne jump dive slow-mo moves and they'll effect any other players who see it - causing them to move slow mo as well. Players who can't see other affected players move as normal.

Its a trip, but it worked. Not saying that exact solution would apply here, just that nature, and devious devs, find a way.
 
People keep bringing Gears of War up and I'm really hoping it's not like that. I actively disliked Gears. Ugh, how many hours till the trailer?

I'm hoping for something more involved than just "press and play." Wanting something a little similar to God of War Ascension interms of constantly being in control.
