MGSV: Ground Zeroes - Spoilers Thread - #TeamBowie

Listening to Chico's tapes...

Did Skullface rape Paz and forced Chico to bang her? And did he put the second bomb in her vagina?

OMG

That makes no sense at all. If that's where it was then she could have pulled it out instead of jumping out of the helicopter.

The enemy helicopter sees that she's in the MSF helicopter, so they go to detonate. I think she looks back, sees she's about to explode, and jumps out.

Some joker hit Wikipedia.

Why is there an easter island statue on top of one of the radio towers during the operative rescue mission? I tried shooting it but it didn't do anything or I missed.

Actually, could have been further in than just her v. She would've been a mess if they placed it there without any sort of dilation.

Best option still would've been rib cage, but you'd need a package with enough explosive. Something the size of what was in her abdomen might interfere with breathing.

Can't believe I'm talking about bomb placement inside a person, lol, but metal gear.

I just realised it's safe to assume Zeke is still safely stored at the bottom of the ocean, along with the nuke?

Huey knows where it is and Huey seems to be the rat.

During the destruction of Mother Base, of course it's safe to assume XOF didn't find or retrieve it at that moment. But during the time period in between the two games? Doubt it's still there after all that time. Surely either XOF or Cipher will have found it.

Really hope in TPP we infiltrate a country similar to the Afghanistan level in size and such.
Then time jump and its the same location now heavily fortified, and you play as Solid Snake infiltrating it this time.

Also turns all your Mother Base building against you.
- recruited hundreds of soldiers for MB? Solid has to deal with it.
- captured a crazy amount of tanks and helicopters? Solid fights them on the way in.
- RnD designed all the special gear? Outer Heaven troops now carry the best gear in the game.
- Fully upgraded Zeke? All upgrades are added to the TX-55 Metal Gear.

Well they did remove organs from her. The rib cage would be too dangerous, it could kill her easily, and the operation wasn't delicate at all.

1)They inserted the second bomb through the initial cut, into her uterus (perhap they cut it, or removed it altogether, leaving the internal v intact)

or

2) They cut her open down there. But I didn't see any blood between her legs, not that I looked hard for it.

2.1) It was a small bomb, the size of a thumb that could go in easily.

I think it's 1. In the tape you hear skullbro inserting the bomb with ease, and a v with or without moisture wouldn't make that much sound, and it wouldn't be easy if Paz was forcing it out while inserting
(unless.. she wasn't forcing it out - oh my)
. The second bomb was inserted through her bowels (something that would be easy and make that much noise) to the lower part of her body.

Thinking about how little Kiefer dialog there is in Ground Zeroes, I wonder if it means we're in for a less chatty Snake in general in The Phantom Pain. I'm sure Sutherland is more expensive to get into a recording booth, and while I'm not completely opposed to the casting, it'd be really disappointing if we're in for a game where Snake has to speak far less than usual.

Dude on the Kojima Productions stream claimed that the enemies are in different positions depending on if you skip the opening cutscene, true or bs?

Was talking with a friend that If you cut out Big Boss completely and added Sam Fisher, changed the names of a few characters (Paz/Chico/Kaz) this could have 100% been sold as a Splinter Cell game.

Vagina bomb was impressive. Not shoved in your face.
Man, I love this fucking game. Very serious through and through. The only dumbassery came in the form of Kojima side-quest, but even that's not poorly handled.

It was more than just both being stealth games. I think it's the drastic shift to open world. I'm used to my linear MGS. This didn't feel like a MGS game. It felt like a generic stealth game with a MGS skin.
This is more open than any SC. Obviously to each his own, but I vastly prefer this over the linear levels. This opens up a host of possibilities game play wise.

MG1/2 remake will be a tower defence game where you play as Big Boss trying to stop Solid Snake.

Fuck dat.

Build Outer Heaven. Fortify your defenses against intruders. Finish the game.

Play Metal Gear Solid 0 18 months later, as Solid Snake infiltrating Outer Heaven and realize you fucked yourself over when they inport your MGSV save data.

This made me think how fucking irate Big Boss must have been.

All those years, all that sweat, blood, money, and tears poured into Outer Heaven and one rookie soldier plows through everything you built up.

OMG at the vagina bomb theory. So hilarious and cruel and fucked up that it might even be true. Imagine Skull Face being so cruel, knowing Chico came to save Paz because he loved her, and using that knowledge in a cruel twisted way. What if she had a C-section? That would be even more fucked up.

Stop it, GAF! Good morning, BTW.

Speculation: I wonder what happened to Chico. He is 9 years older than he was, so I wonder which character he may already be from existing MGS Saga.

On the intel acquisition ops if you skip the cutscene two soldiers are seemingly further behind on the road you start on than if not, so there's at least something to it.

Unbeknownst to Snake, Skull Face dies in the helicopter crash.

The Skull Face in The Phantom Pain is an older, disfigured Chico.

This ribcage talk has me thinking of that "There's a bomb in his ribcage!" meme inspired by Impostor.

Quick question can you find the xof patches/cassettes on any side op mission or are the patches only on ground zeroes?(miller made a comment about maybe having missed a cassette on the intel mission so I'm guessing that might be mission specific?)

So I played the main mission again last night and am conflicted about how I should feel for Paz when I put my mind set of the boss. And for one the boss ask Kaz if he needs to kill Paz. So to me no matter what she was going to die and likely tortured to find out what she told skull face. And two, fuck her she sold me out!

Patches are only in Ground Zeroes.

Tapes are in all of the missions.

Did anyone else feel that Kojima was making metacommentary on MGS, as he often does, with regards to Paz and the game in general? Puts one of the silliest joke characters (whose characteristics were probably chosen solely for the Japanese teen boy demographic PW wanted) through what is perhaps the most disturbing incident of torture in all of video games as the catalyst for Snake's story, as well as the new direction of the Metal Gear series. I also think this is the reason for the blunt War on Terror references, it's using those as an analogy for Kojima's own unsatisfaction with being forced apply his serious ideas to another installment of his glorified anime series.

Oh definitely. The use of Here's To You(which is great taken on its own. nice bit of foreshadowing) suggests this as well. It's been mentioned that it was originally in 4 because of the planned ending where Snake and Otacon get executed, before his team convinced him not to kill them off. Having it show up here hints to me that Kojima is going in directions he wasn't able or willing to before.

I don't think it was as concious as that.

I just think he had to get rid of the possibility of this sort of shit returning, and Kiefer seeing it.

Of course it's conscious dude, don't gimme that weak shit.

I've mentioned this in another thread but I think 4 has made a lot of people forget how good the series can be, and as a result Phantom Pain has a lot to prove. I mean don't get me wrong, MGS4 is capital B Bad it Capital S Straight Up Sucks.

But look back at 2 and 3, and compare them to the same type of game the MGS series helped spawn(cinematic, story-driven). They're a hell of a lot smarter than Spec Ops: The Line or Bioshock Infinite or The Last of Us and a lot of other AAA storygames that get praised for their narrative. And it isn't just in spite of the goofiness or oddities like the bee man. That's part of it. Seriously, 3 does some really cool things in the way it plays with tone and the bee man factors into this. V is going in a new direction and that's cool too. The important thing though is that this is definitely a project with some passion behind it(unlike 4) and that's exciting to me.

So yeah, Phantom Pain has a lot to prove. Not just that Kojima's still got it, but also to remind everyone he had it in the first place.

You're going to have to read the post I was quoting to see what I was saying.

This speculation gives Kojima a bit too much credit, I think. I doubt he was thinking much about anatomy when the team was working on GZ, given the way the entire surgery scene plays out.

"No bleeding." Uh? Okay?

Did anyone else feel that Kojima was making metacommentary on MGS, as he often does, with regards to Paz and the game in general?..

Well I did notice the very direct commentary on thr MGS series with the Deja Vu mission. In case you don't know as a sort of side mission in that silly side op you notice all these signs/tags of previous Metal Gear games, if you find the MRS Rifle with the blue light you can use it to erase those tags. However, it doesn't erase all the tags only main games in the series as their are false tags planted. Anywho, when you erase the Metal Gear tag Kaz says something along the lines of "You can erase the tags but you can't erase the memories." Which seems to suggest Kojima has bad memories s far as MGS4 goes.

You can also call Kaz when looking at some of these tags, I've yet to do it for all of them and will replay the mission later today but they are quite funny. He goes something like "Metal Gear...something, something" and "I don't remember that one" when you call him while looking at the "Metal Gear Ac!d" tag. He also had some disparaging remarks about "Metal Gear Arcade."
