• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on XB1, both at 30fps

See what we're gonna do is we're gonna downgrade it first. Then we are going to upgrade the downgrade. Then we're gonna upgrade the downgrade again and put up our pre-order page ... blah blah some mumbo jumbo about PS4 is the only way to play - the kids will love it! We will blast it all over Social media or whatever those kooky kids are using these days even get "Official Sounding" media organisations to spread the word 1080p60fps ... ... then BLAM!! we will downgrade the upgrade, maybe even downgrade the downgrade. It will be too late, because once you tell a lie enough times they will believe it.

You still with me boss? We're gonna be rich!

So PC Master Race people, curious as to how many of you are rocking this to get 1080p/60fps:

-Intel Core i7-3930K/AMD FX-9370
-Latest DirectX 11 graphics card with 2 GB Video RAM or more (Nvidia GTX 670/AMD Radeon HD 7970)

Because yeah. Not everyone has that. An i7 is recommended.

1080/30 or 720/60 for me. Either way, I need a locked framerate. None of that unlocked bullshit.

Every time they say this once the game is out people test it and it runs better with a considerably weaker hardware. Every single time, unless the game is downright broken, and I don't mean poorly optimized.

I am not cancelling my preorder.... Been wanting to play this game and as long as it is fun that is all that really matters right? Looks to have a ton of content as well.

Except that crap was what people expected as the standard for this gen and it's crap that has been possible on PC for cheap for the past 5 years.
Calm down, you've misunderstood.
If you can afford a PS4 or Xbox One, you can afford to get a gaming PC. It's not that much more money if you simply use the GAF thread.
You too

All I was saying is that PS4-gaf won't be canceling their preorders over this because PS4 version still runs better than the Xbone and that is all that matters to most people. Running better than PS4 is just expensive PC snobbery in the console war, even when we're talking about supposed standards. You can see this with 60 fps all the time.

Give me:
price of PC that can run this game at 1080p & 60fps.
price of PC that can run this game at 1080p & 30 fps.
price of PC that can run this game at 900p & 60fps.

Thank you.

You'd have to ask the question again when the game is out. Ubi's min spec and recommended spec have been wrong pretty consistently. They also recommend an 8 core Intel processor, of which there are none unless you think of server or workstation anyway, unless they think hyperthreading is a literally adding physical cores, which it isn't. Never trust Ubi. In fact, I wound't be surprised if the game actually is 1080/60 and they just got it wrong AGAIN :P

Maybe you can use your phone in the game to hack a better resolution.

well i can but i have no interest in this game

I'm glad I don't have ridiculous expectations for the new hardware as it is.

Resolutions are going to jump around folks. We're going to see everything from downsampled (1080p+) 60fps games to 720-900p 30fps games throughout this generation.

If you want your gaming hardware pushed...they have to work around it and make it work.

We need some kind of Gaf (poly-count/resolution/CPU/framerate/AI/physics/optimization) development class thread/sticky.

This

Seriously comparing this to second son when none of you have played the game is hilarious...there are inefficiencies inherent built into crossgening a game. On top of that Second son was pretty static when it came to the people walking around in the game. A better comparison would be gta V when it comes to xbox one and ps4 as that will have been a cross gen game too (but since its a forward port gta v should be worse for the wear unless they developed them in sync)

1080p and 30fps is a given. I fully expect my 660Ti and i5 2500k @ 4.3GHz to deliver that.
With everything on high at least.

Why are devs having so much trouble hitting 1080/60? Or even just 1080? Is it an 'early in the gen' sort of problem?

It's a problem of power and desing decision. We won't have much increased visual fidelity and 1080p60 this gen. There is a limit in power and devs have to decide what is more important for their game.
If all decide to go 1080p60 we would get games which are not really above the last gen - see Forza 5.

Such impressive coding skillz.

Game looks pretty damned boring, so I was going to skip it anyways. Now it is pretty much confirmed.

I have a PC that can run it in 1080p, but it never will. HA!
Uplay is annoying also, fuck that noise.

I'm on an i7-3770 with a 2GB GTX 770 but I'm also a realist. Ubi hasn't exactly been stellar with their PC engines. I don't even think those "recommended" specs will reach 1080p/60 without a lot of tweaking.

You will be able to buy this game from half the price in a month on PC .. And every other game you buy.

Where as the game will continue to be $60 for consoles for the next six months.

Your specification does not include the full picture.

LOL at all those people that were convinced the game would run at 1080p/60fps. How can you be so God damned stupid?

... Oh, it appears I was one of them.

No purchase for me.

If the PC version actually needs $600 cpu to hit 1080p then its easily the worst port job I've personally seen.

That is more of the case of Ubisoft lying than Sony's marketing. They were pretty vocal about 1080p/60 FPS at E3.

Lol... no they weren't. This is all Sony marketing.

Every interview for watch dogs that asked about frames always had the same answer.

We are still finalizing.
