Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on XB1, both at 30fps

Ouch.

Downgradeation indeed.

Its still going to sell though. I've talked to people who have still expressed interest.

It'll likely just never be what it could have been.

But it IS a jump in quality, as we'll no doubt see once the last gen versions are shown. Theres a lot more going on in the game other than graphics, and those things cost resources.

Still day 1.

Very well aware of that. Still I really doubt there's anything going on in this game that for example Infamous doesn't do. Except for the wind simulation perhaps?

What's this 792P thing about? There's got to be an explanation as to why developers keep settling on it. Is there some math that allows a 792P frame to get multisample AA in a 32MB framebuffer?

So PC Master Race people, curious as to how many of you are rocking this to get 1080p/60fps:

-Intel Core i7-3930K/AMD FX-9370
-Latest DirectX 11 graphics card with 2 GB Video RAM or more (Nvidia GTX 670/AMD Radeon HD 7970)

Because yeah. Not everyone has that. An i7 is recommended.

I never expected the 1080/60 rumor to be true, but I did expect 1080/30. This is kind of disappointing. Still getting it though.

How the Hell can FFXIV run at 1080p/ 30FPS with all sorts of particle-effects, latency calls and whatever other technological hurtles online games have and none of these shitastic "next-gen" games can?

Unbelievable. And inexcusable.

Does FFXIV fps supposedly tank in large battles. It's not really that black and white. Also it's not an impressive looking game really. (Then again neither is watch dogs).

Give me:
price of PC that can run this game at 1080p & 60fps.

Thank you.

A $2000 PC will run this game at:-

No. Don't thank me.

I don't understand it. Child of Light is also an Ubisoft title and that hit 1080p on PS4.

Maybe the Watch Dogs team should get some technical fellows from CoL to help out with the pixels.
It's actually 1440p at 60fps!

Those tech fellows know what's up.

We're getting closer to my "We'll end up back at 720p/30fps by the end of the gen." prediction from about four years ago.

I was getting "worried" we might not make it. Thankfully Ubisoft is here to save the day.

Surely they can patch it right like they did with Assassin's Creed Black Flag when they are shipped with 900p.

It's probably technically possible but if they plan to do that I would assume that they'd either mention that or hold off on announcing the 900p resolution.

That really sucks. I don't really have a choice, though. I don't expect it to run very consistently on my PC either so I'll probably still go ps4. No good options here, though.

. They've designed a game where you're basically hacking everything around you, accessing people's private information in a variety of ways, manipulating the environment around you in all sorts of fun ways. They've got an interesting mechanic where players can invade the games of other players and try to hack their info.
.

Omg...The horror, the horror.
So basically AC4 hacking minigame with AAA budget for add-on twists to the hacking.
I was wondering why AC4 has so many useless hacking minigames, it was all a test to see which hacking minigames they should add to WD.

Given that the bugs come from abysmal programmers, I disagree. Get better programmers, have less technical issues, have less bugs related to code.

They have literally zero excuse for that kind of performance - open world or otherwise. What we've seen from gameplay videos already shows a massive decrease in the visual quality of the game compared to what we originally saw years ago. After seeing a game like Infamous perform the way it does, to say this is a disappointment is an understatement.

Ubisoft literally could not have handled the entire production of this game worse than they have. It's impossible. And the way they write it off as "Framerate and resolution are just numbers" is incredibly lazy and goes to show how little their programmers really know.

Had the game preordered on PS4. Hate to say it (and it's the first time I've said it,) but preorder cancelled. I'll wait for it to go on sale on PC. And consider all my hype for The Division completely lost.

Bugs are inherent to game design. You have thousands of people working to create assets for a single game, combining all of these elements into a final product that's constant evolving as new stuff is added for months. The bigger the game is, the more open it is, the more bugs it will have. Hence why huge open world games like Skyrim, Fallout , and to a lesser extent Ass. Creed are often bug ridden.

The reason many modern games are buggy are not because programmers are "crappy" or because "QAQ" is run by monkeys, it's because publishers have strict deadlines for releases and pressures developers to rush their games to stores. Meanwhile, the QAQ departments get new builds with tons of new features every week instead of working on a final build, meaning they cannot fully test the final product for most of the dev time, and by the time they get the final product, it's already pretty much too late to fix most of the remaining bugs since the disk are almost ready to be printed.

Well that's kind of disappointing on both accounts. I expected 1080PS4/900Xbone.

Still will buy on PS4 just so I don't have to deal with U-Play on PC, because fuck U-Play.

Wow, not even 60 fps for those resolutions? I will hate to see what the 360/PS3 versions look like at launch
And the eventual DOA WiiU version

Hey, what if the game is good and none of this matters?

Can't be... its a ubisoft game. I was only interested in this game because of its visuals, framerate, and resolution. I don't find ubisoft games enjoyable, but would have bought it because it used to look pretty.

typical GAF response

Still counts for the MP then.

The Shadow Fall multiplayer is doing something weird for sure. I believe you get one 1920x540 image every frame, but every other frame is the "other half" of the full 1920x1080 image...that way, you get the full 60fps, but your eyes basically see it in 1080p...kind of the way active shutter glasses work.

So yeah, it's not "true" 1080p, but it's a more clever trick than upscaling 900p.

It's because MS doesn't want their new power house running at 720p. A cynical move to save face.

Think I may hold off on reviews but I have an i7 4770k and 280x.

Disagree, I think it makes environments or locations feel more alive or realistic.

Who cares if the wind blows cans in a realistic fashion? It's nothing you can't prebake and you wouldn't ever notice it. It's typical experimentation from the beginning of a gen and it's not going to last as it uses too much ressources for diminishing returns.

TBF that was the logical turn of events can't keeping pushing higher fidelity without something eventually giving in.

Only thing that would stop that would be gamer stigma of that resolution.

wellp... glad it's just a rental for me. from the time they shown this to now... it's just been downgrade stories left and right.

if there's no 1080p patch... then no buy.
