Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Titled

Superman and Batman have a debate about if God is real or not. Batman screams "I HATE GOD!" to which Superman replies "How can you hate him, if he isn't real?" At which point Batman breaks down and stumbles from the debate hall out into the street where he is struck by Wonder Woman's invisible 2014 DODGE DART II. With his final breath, Bruce accepts the lord into his heart and dies, as Diana and Clark kneel beside his convulsing body and thank God for this miracle.
Honestly there is a 100% chance that ANY parody will be better than this movie.

The name is the least of this movie's troubles. I'm just concerned that they're not going to get the dynamic of Batman and Superman right. Being influenced by Frank fucking Miller is not what I want to see when it comes to Batman and Superman.

They're bros. They may disagree, but they share the same code, and when it comes down to it, they're going to be back to back, fighting the good fight. I worry that making the entire movie about Batman vs Superman will introduce too much animosity, and make any team up in Justice League ring false.

Man of Steel was already worrying in this regard, I hope they know what they're doing with this one.
A little animosity between Batman and Superman, even as Justice League progresses is a good thing. They have a lot of respect for each other, but they're not always bros.

Really? World's Finest wasn't even on the table? Keep on eating Marvel's scraps, DC.

Naming the movie something that tells people nothing about the movie wasn't going to put them on top of Marvel. They need a title that straight smacks the mainstream audience in the face with what this movie is, and this title does that. Not too elegant, but there's a job to be done. Nobody knows what "World's Finest" is.

Yeah I guess there's that, but I only really enjoyed my first viewing of that movie I didn't quite like it after that.

The only one I believe is more accepted as being good is, The People vs. Larry Flynt

That too. Also Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. One of the very best horror comedies in the last ten years.

Oh yeah! It's been a while since I've seen it. While we're at it lets add Godzilla vs Mothra to that list.

Okay so now we've got

Scott Pilgrim vs the World
The People vs Larry Flint
Tucker & Dale vs Evil
and Godzilla vs Mothra.

What other movies can we add to the list of movies with vs/v/versus in their title that aren't total shit?

I think we're mostly on the same page. Brothers fight and disagree. Sometimes they don't talk to each other. Some friction and animosity is to be expected.

I worry they will take it too far. The ideal being the rivalry seen in the the animated series World's Finest episodes vs the flat out loathing in The Dark Knight Returns.

Kingdom Come also did a pretty good job with their relationship. That push-pull dynamic between their differences and their commonalities is what makes the whole thing interesting.

Also, one more question: Forget about the fact that it SEEMS unreasonable that Batman would be able to fight Superman (WARRIOR SPOILER:
kind of like how the brother beats Tom Hardy at the end of Warrior only WAY less feasible
), why would they fight anyway...does one of them not feel like the other is fighting crime correctly?

Don't like the "V" part but Dawn of Justice is cool enough.

LOL@ those worrying about how its going to be said at the theaters. First of all I imagine more than half the people just use the ticket kiosks. Those who go up will just say "Batman versus Superman" or "Superman and Batman".

Better yet who cares? Or why? What if they gave it the best title possible (how can that ever be agreed upon?) would that somehow make it a great movie?

Batman Begings sounded really stupid as a title but the movie is so good who cares about the title?

That was actually the reason for the first meeting between Batman and Superman in John Byrne's reboot. Superman was going to bring Batman in because he didn't agree with his style of vigilantism.

They don't really fight, if they do its usually because Supermans under some mind control and even then he subconsciously holds back or Batman uses a ring made of kryptonite. Their ideals really grate together sometimes. Verbal smackdowns will hopefully be good

I think they'll end up somewhere in between, more towards the World's Finest animations if it leans one way.

Returns was a self-contained Batman story that didn't have to consider teaming them up later on. I wouldn't worry about that.

Only problem is that they said they were influenced by TDKR when they announced the project. Hence my concern.

I'm fine with Batman v Superman. The guys in the marketing department are in heaven.

"Who's side are you on"
Giant posters of them staring angrily at each other.
Toy packaging with superman and batman about to punch each other.

"Iron Man v. Captain America: Avenging Begins" was a pretty awesome movie
But it's not as awesome as "Iron Man v. Captain America: War for the Civilians." Where they are actually in a courtroom to settle a law diplomatically instead of punching each other's faces in over a law.

Because everything's a big deal when it involves WB/DC, especially Batman and Superman. They're held to a higher standard than the others.

Someone earlier in the thread was claiming that Dawn of Justice is a terrible or generic subtitle, while Age of Ultron somehow isn't. Nevermind that the Call of Duty of action flicks, Transformers, has a movie coming out with pretty much the same title.
Only problem is that they said they were influenced by TDKR when they announced the project. Hence my concern.

Batman is influenced by TDKR, but Superman won't follow that depiction. Without Supes being a government tool, Batman can only hate him but so much. lol

Superman was the heel in Returns. If anything, Batman will be the heel in this movie.

Damn, people will criticize anything related to this movie. Age of Ultron is just as dumb.

It tells you what the movie is about. Batman fighting Superman with Justice League starting up.

Yup; the torrent of hate and "OMGWORSTTITLEEVAR" is expected. It's an alright title -- and at the end of the day, if the movie is good no one is going to give a single fuck.

That'd be a cool premise though. Are there going to be any actual villains in the film?

e.g. Batman v Superman vs Lex Luthor v The Riddler

Age of Ultron isn't the greatest subtitle ever, but it actually does convey something about the plot of the film and makes grammatical sense.

BvS:DoJ, well, I don't hate it, but it's just clunky - how would justice "dawn?" Is justice a concept that doesn't exist in the Snyderverse until this movie?

Obviously, that word refers to the Justice League, but even "Dawn of the Justice League" or "Rise of the Justice League" would be a better subtitle.
