Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Titled

Maybe it is, but the general point was that it's a clunky and generic title like most of these comic book movies. People are who going to watch that are just going to refer to it as Avengers 2. That's it.

How is Age of Ultron a generic title? It's quite literally the opposite of generic since it refers to something specific.

it's not a great title. i'd say the idea of an eventual Justice League setup isn't something that needs to be in the title, but i dunno. i'm constantly surprised at how much people need things spelled out, so maybe it makes sense and i can't think of another way to put it that sounds any better. assuming that's something that NEEDS to be there, i think the "v" instead of "vs." is what bothers me. not only because it's worse, but because it seems like an intentional joke due to "justice" and then the justice system and courts. maybe i'm overthinking it.
Your not.

This will get parodied to hell and back off of the title alone

Batman generally uses Kryptonite.

He might wear an armored exosuit to increase his survivability.

And a lot of the time, Superman is mind controlled or holding back, which reduces his power and gives Batman time to prep stuff like traps.

Thanks Delta...still seems ridiculous. Dude reversed TIME ITSELF by flying backwards once...and a rich kid that is skilled in martial arts is going to stop him??

it's actually a lot fucking worse, considering the material it's evoking

I think Age of Ultron is a damn cool name. Sure, the book was shit, but Whedon quickly put our worries to rest when he said he was only pulling the name from it and nothing else.

In 5 years no one will remember the shit Age of Ultron book and everyone will remember the awesome Age of Ultron movie, so it's like they salvaged the only good thing from it.

I don't like the "versus" angle they're going with here, but that subtitle really ruins it for me. It would be a perfectly serviceable title to get the point across if they wanted to just call it "BATMAN VS SUPERMAN," but they are trying very hard to remind people every second that they are working on Justice League.

Generic because 'Age of 'insert word here' isn't exactly some inspired title. It's as generic as it can be. The new Transformers movie has a similar name. Not to mention, no one will give a crap. It's Avengers 2 to most of the people who will go watch it.

At least WB stopped pretending that this is meant to be a Man of Steel sequel and not a Justice League prequel. They even have Batman first in the title, just to make that point even clearer.

That's the selling point of the movie, though.

Batman AND Superman in the same movie.

I think they're definitely leaning on it being a Justice League prequel with the entire "Dawn of Justice" subtitle.

It's not going to adapt the comic book event.

X-Men's last two movies were named after comics, are partial adaptations, and did well.

"First Class? Days of Future Past? No one knows what they are!"

Superman and Batman are two of the world's greatest superheroes. Hence "World's Finest Superheroes". It doesn't take a genius to understand that.

I remember those great post Batman and Robin working titles

Batman: Triumphant
Batman Triumphant is the canned 3rd Burton movie with no plot connection to Forever/Robin. For example, it would've had Nicholson reprise Joker.

I know. I like it. "Age of ___" is a classic comic book naming convention and I'm glad to see it start appearing in films.

Then name is Batman & Superman: World's Finest.

I am now fully expecting a Dark Knight Returns fight between them, which may be rightfully so.

Well, you have to keep in mind that that was Pre-Crisis Superman, where he was powerful enough to do stuff like that. After the Crisis reboot, John Byrne made him a lot weaker, so he couldn't reverse time or juggle planets, and powerful laser blasts could stagger him.

Though DC's been powering him back up over the years, and he got a new reboot in the New 52, so I'm not sure how powerful he currently is.

Fine.

BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: WORLD'S FINEST

Dawn of Justice sounds like the Captain America subtitle that no one actually says, except worse.

I know you're joking, but fucking look at Guardians of the Galaxy. They didn't shoe-horn Iron Man into it and say "Iron Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy". I know Marvel and DC are in different situations right now though.

Eh, I don't know about calling it Justice League, but then again I have no idea what the movie is about.

It's a small thing, but seems like such an easy one. I refuse to believe that World's Finest wasn't at least in the running for the title.

No I'm saying the Justice League movie that comes after Dawn of Justice will be called Worlds Finest.

I think the best part is going to be the mass outrage

cause people will expect the movie to solely focus on a fight between Superman and Batman.

Those are both subtitles.

Generic does not mean uninspired. Age of Ultron might be uninspired to you but it's not generic. At least it has that going for it. Unlike…this.

Using a shitty non-sensical deus ex machina from a 30+ year old movie isn't much of an argument. Granted, Superman is still insanely powerful, but he's not exactly traveling through time

I bet they were down to "Batman & Superman: World's Finest" and this. The marketing team probably wanted to get the word Justice in there akin to Marvel with "Avenger."

I'm expecting that throw down more than ever, too.

Bu-but...World's Finest?

Ben Affleck is definitely going to die now from being punch into the stratosphere by Henry Cavill's Superman.

"YOU STOLE MY MOVIE!!"

there's no way Batman going to survive with that flimsy suit.

It's not just one fight. Batman will be more morally uptight than Superman and get away with it because he's Batman.

Generic does not mean uninspired. Age of Ultron might be uninspired to you but it's not generic. At least it has that going for it. Unlike…this.
Oh no, you're quite right. It's a very unique title. I'm sure everyone will care very much about that subtitle and how excitingly it portrays the movie. It's not like there's a whole form of media out there from movies to books to who knows what else that have used the same naming scheme.

Just so people don't know what Dark Knight Returns which inspired this movie entails: It is about a 50+ year old Batman who comes out of retirement to bring justice back to society which has been corrupted by evil forces which includes the US government and Superman is working for the US government in what Superman thinks what the US government says has a just cause.

THAT is why It is Batman v Superman

and the ENDING of the comic is why it is called Dawn of Justice
