Never played the ME games but I sure would like to get in them. I hope the new one isn't THAT connected to the old games.

So uhhh... if it's not a prequel, how are they gonna handle the RGB endings? Mash them all together into the same starting point like Invisible War did with JC's choice?

The only thing they can do if they don't want to piss off fans is to actually make three different versions of the story for the three ME3 endings.

didn't the rgb endings only had one epilogue?

someone correct me on this one.

Yes but the choices you make drastically alter the universe, you could have Reaper-Shepard and his/her cybernetic army of awesome roaming around the universe. ;)

Yeah, maybe something like.
Shepard takes control of the Reapers and commands into the sun to destroy them, then merges with the catalyst to solve the "chaos" problem.
Lets call this the "White colored" ending.

Regardless of how much many fans cringe at the thought, I've always felt you could even play ME2 or ME3 just fine without having played the rest. Sure you'd miss out on a lot but you wouldn't feel lost and the story would still make as much sense to you, they're perfectly enjoyable experiences by themselves and I'm sure that'll be even more the case with the new one (or the new trilogy).

My website has some sources inside GameStop. This is what we've heard:

-The name (or at least the working title) is Origins
-Not a prequel
-Starts a new trilogy

We're still trying to confirm this information, but the same source told us about the Arkham Knight reveal before it happened, so the chances of this being true are pretty high.

Hyped from the multiplayer, after ME3 i could care less about thier stories, lore and characters. If its ebox exlusive then they can fuck off.

Please don't announce an exclusivity deal of any kind with MS when you step up on their stage. Please.

Do the right thing and stick to a marketing deal.

?

I don't think we care anymore. The ending was garbage, there's no fixing this. Just move on. Set it hundreds, maybe thousands of years after the events and don't even mention anything remotely close to the original trilogy.

The game will be better off if we're not reminded that the main antagonist went from being galaxy killing sentient machines to Martin Sheen, RGB endings and a pretty mediocre attempt at retcon in DLC.

If it's not a sequel I hope its disconnected from the Reapers plot. Ended with too much of a whimper to have them loom over everything again

I agree that the ending was garbage but they already got shit for decisions which turned out to be pointless in the end. Doing it all over again would be a bad idea. I'd honestly prefer a prequel or a reboot TBH. Or sth set in an alternate version of the Mass Effect verse where the Reaper invasion didn't happen, whatever. But all signs point to it being set after ME3 so they'll have to somehow incorporate what happened in that game and just ignoring the three endings would just be fucking cheap.

Its cross-gen or current-gen only? If you have any info?

Bits and pieces. Supposed PAX leak, stuff I heard, stuff others heard, etc. General summary of rumours:

- Not a prequel.
- Emphasis on exploration.
- Vehicles.
- New major species.
- Multiplayer.
- "Mass Effect: Contact"

These all sound great. I honestly hope it's a sequel.

Mass Effect 4 better be a game set after 3, where long distance space travel is not possible and people live in castles and shoot lasers and shit at each other.

So a bunch of species must venture from earth to reclaim their lost civilizations and technology? Sounds like Destiny.

This. This is a game I would pre-order, and then consider buying depending on the size of the castles and lazors.

Please don't be a prequel. The "Mass Effect: Contact" rumors have me worried.

There's nothing else they can do, right? They annihilated their entire universe in ME3.

Prequel is the only option. Besides, that means they can guarantee all of your actions have absolutely no effect on canon whatsoever because the future is pre-determined. But unlike Telltale, they'll still pretend it isn't.

Or they could just set it far into the future from where ME3 ended.

if it's about the reapers yet again i'm not gonna buy it.

we all know what happened there with all the retcon god-child bullcrap.

It'd be medieval space with plasma weapons and god damn space trebuchets. How fucking awesome would that be?

Think about having different species face off against each other in their own castles after being stranded to a planet following the events for Mass Effect 3. That'd be great.

I wouldn't worry too much. If you have a mildly competent PC and don't hate origin the trilogy is frequently on sale. Sometimes under $10 depending on where you look.

Prequel would be a disaster! Prequels always turn out horrible.

Especially in sci-fi universes.

Believe me! I know this better than anyone else.
