Uncharted 4 runs at 1080p and targeting 60fps

Those prerendered cutscenes in other ND games were also in-engine, but with 8 times the power of a single ps3. Don't expect this level of graphics ingame, really. Add a bit of aliasing, take out some detail and one or two LOD levels down.

It was always the case with in-engine, it will always be.

If ND can truly, truly nail down 1080p 60fps with this level of graphics, it would be absolutely amazing. If anyone could do it, it would be them.

y'know, if it were anybody other than naughty dog... i wouldn't dream they'd be able to achieve those graphics at `1080/60. we'll see how it plays out in 2015.

Why would you prefer to see the same visual quality at 30fps instead of 60fps.

Of course I wouldn't mind a higher framerate, but I'm quite sceptical about them being able to pull it off. Sure, they've got another year and we haven't really seen the game being played, so no one outside ND really know what it looks like right now - but 1080p at 30 FPS, free of any aliasing, at that level of visual fidelity even in a rather tame scene like the one they showed seems impossible. Put that hardware to test with set pieces like we've seen in previous Uncharted games at the that level of detail, and I really don't think they can avoid any hitching.

I'm just going to stay cautiously optimistic.

This and Battlefront were the best looking games at the show assuming they were real time. Although I thought Battlefront looked better, it is going to be insane if they can get that kind of performance and have the game looking close to this reveal.

Wohooowohoo! 60fps AAA gaming is back!
[for consoles]

Just give a locked 30fps option for those who say they need it and we're done..

Still trying to digest this.

Corrinne, you might be smart but that's not Cerny's twitter.

Thieves End. Someones dying. Sully or Nathan? I guess Nathan will sacrifice himself at the end, concluding an epic saga. Sad and hyped to space at the same time.

This looks great, but it also seems its going for a more dark tone then the first 3 games.
A part of me wonder if thats a good idea, but if anyone can pull it off its Nd.
Nate is wearing the weeding ring in the teaser, in U3 he had it around his neck so I guess this means we will be saving Elena in U4

I don't know if the original voiceover teaser and yesterday's teaser-trailer are two disparate works, but it sure seems like they are. I was a hell of a lot more interested in one of Nate's former allies he inadvertently wronged seeking revenge on him than I am in Nate and Sully pulling "one last score." Although it's possible the two are concurrent plots within the same narrative, it seems like the loss and replacement of Hennig, Wells, the voice talent, et cet shifted the story.

30FPS games? People complain it's not 60.
60FPS games? People complain it's not 30.

In no simple terms, I think y'all should shut up and appreciate whatever the developers put out. Whatever Naughty Dog's decision is, I trust them.

It's going to look insane no matter what. I initially wasn't excited over the idea of another Uncharted, but if this is the end of the franchise with a rusty Drake, and even older Sully then bring it on.

I think there is a difference between real time and in-engine.

You might and probably will be right. But on the other hand no multiplat or Xbox exclusive game will ever reach the graphical level of Naughty Dog (at the same time; further optimization might help later in this gen to reach that).

Since its the first game of them, i think its not surprising to stare at it in disbelieve. But its ND, and ND - so far - always delivered (with a boom).

Edit: Also consider this inengine trailer being at 60fps... Man if they consider to go with 30fps, what will it actually look like? (or later on when they ditch 30fps in there next game?) Hype is real. Future sweet.

I don't like the recent over-use of the word 'targeting'. Surely everyone is targeting the highest fps they can get, but it ends up as a trade-off between effects and frame rate. I want a 'confirmed' 60fps or 'guaranteed' 60fps. Targeting means nothing.

I just read "targeting 60fps" as 60 with drops as opposed to a solid/locked 60.

The game will look insane and I won't be surprised if it looks close to the trailer but... This isn't real-time, right? In-engine, sure. But real-time? I mean... Not only is that a hell of a lot of geometry that scene is throwing around but most of all, the IQ looks supersampled. Very high quality DoF, literally zero aliasing or shimmering and extremely sharp looking textures...

Aamazing character model and the dialogue has me hyped. I look forward to the world of Uncharted one last time. The franchise deserves to end on a high note and I have faith that ND will give fans a proper send off.

so much salt and denial.

"my pc has better specs so why haven't i played games like that?"

oh i dunno, optimisations perhaps? closed platform? tlou ran on a 512 split ram/vram and it looked that good. tell me a pc game that ran on a 256 mb sysmem and 256 mb vram that looks as good as tlou.

Salt? Where are you getting that from? I have played games like that. They're called Crysis and BF4 and Witcher 2. Those games all look amazing with full settings enabled, and they have been completely optimized for PCs (though obviously not as optimized as a closed platform would be). Those games run and look pretty good and Crysis can still chug certain hardware setups. You have to be realistic, UC4 will not run at 60 FPS locked if that trailer is in game footage, it just won't happen. The only one in denial here is you. It's a pipe dream meant to garner hype, hence the word target. It'd be better if you'd couch your expectations rather than build into the hype or else we'll have another DS2 fiasco on our hands.

Wow, joking right. Have played said titles at max and customized. But comparing those admittedly ahead-of-its-time graphics (with that i mean Crysis´) with those of last nights trailer is ridiculous.

That was a pre-rendered cutscene, though. The screen went black shortly before and after that scene (and the other cutscenes).

Eh, whatever, point is the game is absolutely stunning, and we got it at launch, on the XBO.

No reason to look at this and think it is beyond reality. Especially when we have some very smart people who happen to be making the game, telling us repeatedly it is real time.

If that can be done on an Xbox One, on day one.

Then there is no reason we shouldnt expect Naughty Dog, the devs who got the most out of the PS3,
to be able to produce this

On a significantly more powerful system, two more years into the lifespan of the platform.

Why would you prefer to see the same visual quality at 30fps instead of 60fps. Variation betweem 55-60 fps is much better than locked 30fps. It is only when it goes below 50 that judder is really apparent and irritating. Which is why Digital foundry called out for a locked option incase of KZSF but said TR PS4 ( which varied between 50 -60 )is better than TR Xboxone ( which was locked 30fps) because the higher framerate undeniably makes for better responsiveness and gameplay.

Having said the above I would not mind if they enhance the visuals and lock it at 30.

I'm sorry, but some people need to wake up. 30FPS has shitloads of inherent judder. I don't know how many times I have to tell people this. Are people blind around here? 30FPS is not near enough frames to sustain smooth motion, hence why devs are going unlocked. If you optimize your frames well so they don't suddenly jump all over the place you can get a decent approximation of 60FPS. It's only when you are going from 60 to 50 to 40 in the realm of 5 seconds that things are terrible. If they can maintain a decently high framerate it is going to look better than any crap at 30FPS.

I wish all these 30FPS locked people would go away quite honestly if it means devs aren't even going to try to go past 30 if they can. Not even sure who they are. I test and play 95% of my games at 60FPS, and 30FPS solid is dogcrap. It's not quite as juddery as 24FPS film but it's damn close. I honestly don't want any of my games running at 30FPS if possible. I'll take anything basically as long as they maintain frame stability wherever they are. If a little judder creeps in it just needs to be smoother and not harsh jank.

JUDDER DOES NOT MAGICALLY GO AWAY by locking a framerate at 30.

Really interested in how the gameplay is going to look like. Impressive step up for their pre-rendered cutscenes at the very least. 1080p60 is very good news though.

Just loving the trailer. after watching the HD HQ version I am assured this is In-engine RealTime.

At the end the reference to the Bible Luke 23:41
"for we receive the due reward of our deeds" scratched onto the cage so punishment is the order of this game.

My take is he is late 40's early 50's now and has been Forced back in for some reason but as always comes at a price..ppl will die but maybe not Drake!

Damn ND are just Soooooooo Good, and with Corrie Yu and the power of the PS4 we are seeing the next stage in Games...always takes Consoles and to be fair Sony are leading the way.

When AMD said 'next-gen' consoles could approximate Avatar visuals, I probably shouldn't have been quite so quick to mock them.

Now the brutal wait to see how the real time gameplay is going to perform compared to their cutscenes. Exciting times ahead. If they can get even close to this trailer in 1080p60 I can not imagine what Quantic Dream is able to do with 1080p (2.40:1 ; black bars) and 30 fps. Probably straight up CG look even in real time.

Ha. And people were saying not to get hyped because it was way too good looking. You forget we're dealing with Naughty Dog here.

With those graphics? Yeah no, lol. Prove me wrong, ND.

Where have you been? Who thought Uncharted 2 was possible on PS3 at the time it came out?

Massive crow is going to be served at launch.
