Uncharted 4 runs at 1080p and targeting 60fps

I guess "captured directly" doesn't mean "rendered in real-time at 30fps on a PS3". I don't doubt that Uncharted 4 will look absolutely stunning. I just think it's foolish to believe that it will look like the reveal trailer.

I agree. I was in that camp from the start. It's just very disingenuous of them to say "captured from" because they know 90% of the people watching are gonna read that as "real time gameplay amazing pre-order now."

Yeah I just went back and looked. I just lost a little respect for Naughty Dogs.
Edit: Actually I remembered that trailer looking way better than it does. It's not complete bullshit, just a little "target-rendery." I guess we'll see, won't we...
Foliage, characters, lighting and IQ are the main differences. I'm sure the same will apply here except that the characters likely will be on par ingame.

In don't think we know yet how they handle it this time around, but yeah seems likely that they stick to hand animating the faces.
Yeah, hand animated. Better rigging and more bones in the face will automatically improve the results coming from TLoU.

The fly is brilliantly animated too.

And I like the way the loose ground deforms as he grabs his gun.

The Fly is the main villian.

1080p/60fps does no surprise me at all.

They did wonders on a machine with like a 200gflop GPU and 512mb of split ram.

Though I am wondering what they could of achieved at 30fps?, the framerate in uncharted games never bothered me.

Maybe U4 is going to have major focus on multiplayer hence the 60fps?

I agree. The PS3 had a 192 GFLOP GPU, a measly 512 MB's of shared RAM, & the cell processor.

PS4 however, has a 1.84 TFLOP GPU, 8 GB's of GDDR5 RAM that's unified, & a 8-core Jaguar CPU. Just imagine what future games would look on it.

Though IMO, if the CPU inside the PS4 was a bit more stronger, then we would definitely see a lot of PS4 games in Native 1080p w/60 FPS.

I think this is the best example we have for real-time so far. ND no doubt got the better facial artist and given the more time, who knows. It will probably end up close enough put whats out to shame anyway.

Naughty Dog really are wizards at work. I have little doubt the final game will look just as amazing as this reveal. I wonder what SSM will do with the PS4.

Too bad Guerilla still needs to learn how to animate them. Last gen games such as Beyond and The Last of Us weren't as creepy as this dude once he starts talking. For real time the benchmark so far is probably Dark Sorcerer.

"For we receive the due reward of our deeds"
Drake will be ashamed of his words and deeds.

Multiple times. Doesn't confirm anything unfortunately.

It does. They don't use enhanced physics to render their cutscenes. So this is still affected by the limitations of their engine.

Well at least we can know for sure that the assets used are exactly the same we'll see in the game (if this content makes it to the final game, that is).

Still, it's incredibly impressive. And the hq footage seems to also have some frame-drops here and there.

Maybe it's just me xD

There's some clipping on Drake's arm at some point, that doesn't usually happen in an offline-rendered cutscene, right?

it does; any scene is still limited by the engine's capabilities. Unless they try to keyframe every object/animation and try to be clever with angles etc and try to work around those things.

SO basically with some extra tricks and not quite in-gameplay they have near 60FPS. It will probably be some tough optimization and code only an alien would want to handle but they can probably get that FPS up to 50-60 most of the time in real gameplay. I have faith.

why does she say ''in 3D'' WHAT IS THIS 1995?

Because there are some people saying that "captured from a PS4" means that they made some CG and then played the resulting video file on a PS4 and captured that.
Yes, there are people who actually think this. In this thread, in fact.

Set pieces will put it to test. Even if this were real time graphics, there is less going on than in a tech demo lol

Yeah. Pretty sure this cutscene won't make it to the final game.

"For we receive the due reward of our deeds"

I mean, it's pretty easy to see the title refers to the old adage of "those who live by the sword, die by the sword." Drake has been running around being a sneak thief for almost his entire life. Did he not think there wouldn't be consequences for his actions? He's getting pulled into this one last adventure because something has gone wrong. What exactly? We gotta tune in and find out.

the most amazing thing about the clip is how the drips of water pool at the bottom of his chin and slowly start draining until the drips start slowing down.

it's just an obscene level of detail

Those people are weird. It's obviously pre-rendered and the actual game won't look as amazing, but it's a far cry from CG lol

Yeah. Pretty sure this cutscene won't make it to the final game.

ND have never really lied to me before. Most of what they do is not hidden behind doublespeak and word games. Maybe a little but not much. They are pretty upfront with how things work that way. I still will believe they can hit that 50-60 target with near graphics like this. Less AA or something like that possibly.

WTF, this looks so much better! omg

No.. it looks not the intended mood / time of the day..
What's with the new fade "omg i want colors, what is this game with bluish night and this unsaturated bricks.. Eveyrhing should be a raimbow!"

It wasn't real-time. None of Naughty Dog's cutscenes are.
